Repairing a Bosch rotary kango hammer GBH 5-38 D with a bad oil leak. Full teardown, clean, rebuild.

- Why is it when a hammer has a oil leak, the person dosent leave it in before it gets this bad.
This Bosch hammer has been leaking this oil for some time. If left it could burn out the motor amd destroy all the internal gears.
If you machine is leaking oil, get it looked at sooner rather than later.
This turned into a 100 euro repair job. but it could have been much cheaper if it didn't need so much cleaning.

Dean, I watch all your videos and definitely enjoy the long videos. When I see one of your "Box of xxxxx brand tools", I just smile and know I'm going to enjoy. Keep up the good work!
We like them all, just post whenever you feel comfortable with!
I don't mind watching long form videos of the full complete repair - in fact enjoy them. The short ones are good too. By all means do both types.
Friday night delight. Me, my tools, and Dean repair videos.
Given the number of tools you service and repair I am always amazed at your ability to remember what part goes where and the order in which they should be reassembled. I occasionally fix my own stuff but I have to take photos as a trail of bread crumbs to put things back together.
So did I. But eventually it all becomes repetitive and you just remember
I truly enjoy all your content, but I have to say the longer the video the better.. Please keep up the great work….
Thanks again Dean, always a pleasure watching your videos!!!!!!
One of the best machines you can get, nice and light and comfortable. Works forever.
Iluv your videos its a pity you are not closer to where i live in kildare as i hav alot of tools you sure could help i see you only do local repairs you are one knowledgeable guy when it comes to the repair business and not a bad carpenter either keep up the great videos
You do all the work, and we do nothing but sit back and enjoy the show. I’m very happy for whatever you put here Dean. 😊
Keep doing what you're doing i love watching.
Thanks, will do!
long videos are the magic and rare in this land of instant gratification and short attention spans. please and thankyou. Australia
Great video. Love all your😊 breakdowns. This is the best one so far. As an engineer myself it is good to see your confidence when stripping down a machine.
Not quite as bad as cleaning a commercial kitchen grease trap but very near. Great video as usual.
While I prefer the long videos and also like some of the shorter videos that have multiple tools.
More esoteric tools are interesting too.
Great treat for a Saturday morning over breakfast. Thanks Dean.
Оба формата норм. Интересна причина поломки и следствие её устранения. + много знаний, богатый опыт. Продолжайте, как вам удобно. Топ мастер UA-cam
I like the multi tool videos. Fantastic content Dean.
Best videos on UA-cam.
I like many tools videos but more I like big repairs. Thanks for your work!
semi serious question here not a joke. have you ever thought about an apprentice or having someone clean, etc while you do the breakdowns and diagnosis? I would love to do something like this someday as a side job.
Youth needs more mentors. Just pay attention and you too can do it. How i learned everything i know.
It's not his business..he works for someone
I like the down and dirty ones you do, like this one.
Anything goes Dean, i'd watch them all so thank you very much for giving us your time.
Enjoy 'em all brother. Do whatever works most efficiently for you!
I love the long form, lots of machines videos, but I like them all too, thanks Dean, keep up the great work, really appreciate your videos👍👍👍
Both are excellent, but I do prefer the longer ones, but as a treat, not the norm.
Thank you for the videos, watching prompted me to buy, "spares", bits from eBay and repair them as a way to keep the brain going while caring for my wife. Fixes were donated to the hospice shop when completed, so wins all round.
Please keep up the good work.
Love any video u choose to chuck our way 👍🏴.......
Regarding what videos you post do what suits you Thanks for your content it’s always worth watching
I appreciate that!
Thorough and precise. Thanks for the demo.
Hi. Dean. I like both types of video. Long ones are really good to learn for a certain machine. THX
Love the long videos you know going to be great when see a box full .😊😊
Dean. I enjoy all your videos no matter how long they are.👍🏴
Don't change anything, keep doing what you have been going with your videos.
Nice job as always 😊
I would like to say that I enjoy your videos very much, sense I have learned how to replace the cord on my two grinders. Thank you for teaching the viewers how to do there own repairs!!
I am rebuilding dewalt drills all kinds I buy them and fix them back to new I would love if you would show more dewalt impacts an drill fixes I fill.like I am in school again watching your videos I have learn so much from you ty my friend keep them great videos coming god bless
I may be a little weird, but for me Dean’s voice is what calms me down after a bad day.
I sleep to his voice
Whilst I enjoy the "box of tools" videos knowing I'm getting at least an hour or more of learning... This video was 35+ minutes.... Maybe two tools to this detail in an hour?
You asked for opinion, that's mine. Otherwise I'll watch a 10 minute (non-riktok) or a two hour (over time).
Love your work, as always
Nice vid, I just finished watching it
All your videos are useful. Thank you.
Long or short I watch them all! Always good to see a new one pop up! Any formats good for me!
I'm easy, I like watching all of the video content regardless of it being short or the long haul. Obviously the repetitive video's ill just skip along anyway. so yeah, this video was puzzling me as well, guessing it came from the spindle seal. better to be safe than sorry in replacing all those seals.
That’s my Saturday night sorted,Thanks Dean.
Enjoy!
A good sized quality ultrasonic cleaner would be handy for the stubborn dirt. Personally i enjoy the longer videos
Great repair Dean as always 🦘
I love all you videos. Thanks for sharing.
Dean, variety is the spice of life 😅
the repair for the best friend. perfect work
Longer videos are more work for you, and I appreciate that. I also like the longer videos because they keep me from watching other videos I don't I need to watch...
I'm from Portugal and I really like your videos. I prefer long videos, I would like to see gsh 11 vc, gsh 7 vc and also a gsh 27 vc... The best videos are from Hammers. Keep up the good work
Morning Dean, I enjoy all the content you post. The most important thing is that you post content you like because if you don't enjoy it you won't won't want to do it.
The videos I don't like are the ones shot in the format where it looks like it was filmed sideways through a letterbox, as loads of people watch UA-cam on large LCD TVs not that format doesn't really work. But thats not a moan about that actual content just the video aspect ratio 😉
Bravo
My repairs stop at the point where you have to clean with paint thinner, lol.
As for the video's the ones with the surprise boxes with all sort of machines in them are the most fun for me. And I lowkey enjoy the ones with the odd items for repair a lot: the kitchen machines and the parkside hammer drill comes to mind.
Your choice,we enjoy them all!
Long videos are great Dean, whether they be one major repair or several smaller ones grouped together. I realise you can only show what you have in for attention but I don't recall seeing you working on any jigsaws (or at least on the mechanical bit). Are they indestructible? Keep up the good work!
The longer the better. I just don't like the nailgun stuff, but thats my personal preference, i am sure others enjoy it as with the rest of your content.
Class mate
Videos are great - my least favourite are the occasional very short ones with little comment but otherwise go for it!
I love the mixers - you should do a top ten worst 😂
lovely
Congrats on 100k subscribers
Thank you!!
There you go. Good for another 30 years.
Dedicated one off format I think is the best anyway
Sir, the coolest videos are those of reparing a box of random junked units. But any way, i watch all your videos cause they are ALL awesome! Regards from Ukraine!
Good one
I like the longer videos Dean, your explanations are brilliant as you give a why something needs to be done in a certain way too.
A Bosch GSH 11 VC strip and rebuild would be handy. Thanks for taking the time to educate us! Much appreciated 👍
Would a large ultrasonic cleaner be better for clean up? Just leave it to do its thing saving the brushing and scrubbing? I don’t know as deciding whether to get one for my small hobby repair workshop.
Great video. I noticed you used two different types of grease, can you tell us what types of grease you used?
It looks like someone pushed one full tube of molly grease into drill chuck😂😂😂
the detailed video is better because it shows every step you need to repair your tool. and this is for great respect and reward because it conveys knowledge to us. Thanks Dean.
How often do you need to replace the kerosene in Yr parts washer?, I love watching your videos special coz I'm a tool freak, and an ex heating engineer so I can relate with all the tools Yr fixing. Stay safe and mostly stay strong!!
Long videos ❤
Would like a "tour" of your parts machine....is the kerosene re-filtered and cycled back out? And where does all the dirt/etc wind up? Thanks!
Hi Dean, I was wondering if you could give me some information. I recently was given a load of Makita power tools (drills, grinders and planer) and they all work. I opened them up to inspect them and cleaned them and changed the brushes where necessary however, the grease seems to be breaking down and is a bit suspect. Can you recommend a standard grease as a replacement that I could buy in larger quantities so I could do all the machines in one go. I see that Makita does tubes of grease but buying a load of them would be expensive and I was looking for the cheapest way to regrease them but to do the job right.
Nice video ! But in the end what was the cause of the leak ?
Hi Dean! I love you videos! I see you wash all those part and it seem's very time consuming. Is there a reason you don't have an automatic parts cleaner ( with the basket and everything )?
Keep up the good work!
I love the long video but the ones I love the most are when you have a box of many tools.
You can make a mug out of that dried up, dirty grease.
Wouldn't want to drink from it though
The grease giveth, but also doth take away apparently. Quite the job; a lesser man would have gloved 🙌
Hi Dean. Have you ever tried brake clean to clean and remove stubborn grease and oils from parts?
My go to.
Yes it's works. But for something like this it's to expensive. You would use to much
Might an ultrasonic cleaner help with the cleaning? You can get some fairly large ones.
I think I’d watch them long or short honestly so ultimately whichever one is easiest for you.
However I think maybe you could do like 4 shorter videos then at the end of the month a video of them in one big video or if you have a big job like this maybe that could be the big video that month as that would satisfy both camps.
Dean how do you charge in terms of the Grease you used in these machines because I do know Gear Grease is extremely expensive
That was one dirty tool!
Have you ever considered using an ultra sonic cleaner?
Sounds like it was about tea time
FOR VERY GREASY AND DIRTY PARTS I PRECLEAN WITH GASOLINE OUTDOORS LET DRY OFF IN SUN THEN THE PARTS WASHER - KEEPS WASHER FLUID CLEANER LONGER
Ist ja gut... du musst ja nicht hleich schreien.. :(
Very good video turn on the notification because says it's for children and the bel it's on
How much does it cost to have u fix it vs how much it would cost to just buy a new one of this specific tool?
good man thank you all are good. maybe a few supercheap tools could be interesting.
How much would somthing like this cost ?
Library of Alexandria. Tool section.
Dean, what kind of grease do you use?
Bosch hammer grease
@@deandohertygreaser
Thank you for the fast reply. Do you have a Bosch part number for it by chance? Thank You!
I think you are talking about Bosch part number 1615430010. They call it tube grease. Is this the correct one? Thank you for your help!
Thank you for all the videos! They are tremendous!
Wish youd wear some gloves when washing those parts in gasoline 😬
I'd use gloves when dealing with the degrasser. Skin unfortunately absorbs a lot.
🙏👍🥂🥂👍🤝🤝
I like a mix. Not as keen on the ones with no talking.
Not sure of your parts washer solution but wear some gloves. I know. Some young scientific trained youth gave me the facts. Cheers.
Bei modernen Reinigern sind Handschuhe überflüssig!😊
Dermatitis or wear gloves Dean, come on mate.
