I loved it when you said you had to meet Kate Bush!! I've been a fan of hers since I first saw her on Saturday Night Live in December of 1978. I was 18 at the time and completely mesmerized by her. I have not had the blessing of ever meeting her, but one of the things that endear her to me (besides her music and artistry) is her personality. Although she is a fearless performer, Kate is a very shy person, down to earth, and guards her privacy (she has always avoided the spotlight). For the last 40 years I have watched or read every fan club article, interview, and account of interactions with her from fans, fellow musicians, critics, etc. that I could get my hands on. It is a universal consensus from everyone that has ever met her that Kate is an incredibly humble, gracious, kind, witty, sweet, funny, and all around lovely person. When actor Sir Ian McKellen (Gandalf from Lord of The Rings and Magneto from X-Men) presented Kate with a prestigious Sky Arts award for excellence in musical performance for her 2014 concert series, he described her as "everybody's friend, in fact she's the world's friend."
I'm not sure I would use the word "shy" for Kate Bush, but certainly modest and humble. What's amazing to me is that the sweet, humble girl/woman you see in interviews is the same person who is so unreservedly expressive as a performer.
Great reaction🔥 The term(s) is loosely thrown around to anyone these days but Kate Bush truly was/is a musical/artistic genius (She is the Queen of Art Pop). Now that you are on the Kate Bush Experience, (and since you have only scratched the surface) I think it is time for you to react to Kate's first big hit "Wuthering Heights" (1978). Fair warning, this song will showcase a different side to Kate (a side you will need to get used to when you deep dive into Kate's discography). To the uninitiated, they would find "Wuthering Heights" to be weird, out there, odd, haunting, and creepy (I was when I first heard/watched the music video (later on I realized that Kate was portraying a ghost haunting her lover 👻). For more context, Kate Bush wrote the song "Wuthering Heights" after watching the last ten minutes of the 1967 BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) miniseries adaptation of Emily Bronte's 1847 romantic, gothic novel about star-crossed lovers of different social classes and how their destructive and unattainable love lead to tragedy. After reading the novel herself, Kate wrote up the lyrics to the song in one night in 1977. Released the following year in 1978, "Wuthering Heights" became the first woman-penned track to reach #1 in the UK Top-100 Chart's History. Kate was only 18 years old when she accomplished the feat. Sidenote: You have a choice between two music videos of "Wuthering Heights": One video has Kate dressed in all white, singing and performing interpretive dance. The other video has Kate clad in a red dress, performing the song and dance outdoors. Furthermore, Kate decided to do a new vocal version of "Wuthering Heights" with her mature singing voice, as well as add some extra production for her 1986 compilation album, "The Whole Story." (For me, the 1986 new vocal version is my personal favorite). Lastly, Rock Legend (and 2022 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductee) Pat Benatar released her own version of "Wuthering Heights" for her 1980 album "Crimes of Passion"
A strange thing that as Kate mentioned after the release of "Wuthering Heights" was that beore she wrote the song, she read part of the book to get a handle on Cathy, when she did get a chance to read the whole book later (after writing the lyrics) she noticed that words from the part of the book she hadn't read at time were repeated in the song lyrics. BTW when Kate was young she was called Cathy which gave her a sort of connection to the character and indeed when she sung "Wuthering Heights" Kate said that she was channelling Cathy and Kate becoming a completely different character when she sings is certainly something that's seen on her music videos.
Although not that well known in America (prior to Stranger Things), Kate is an icon in much of the rest of the world and highly respected. She is a one of a kind artistic genius, highly innovative and influential, Kate has been a pioneer for women in the music industry for over 40 years. She was the first woman to have a self-written #1 song in the U.K. charts, first woman to have a #1 album in the charts, Kate also has had all 10 of her albums in the Top 10, with 25 singles in the Top 40. She is primarily a studio artist (with supporting videos), but her only live tour in 1979 set new standards of musical performance that combined music, dance, mime, magic, numerous costume changes and innovative visuals (Kate even helped develop the first wireless headset microphone that she used in this tour). In 2014 she returned to the stage and sold out over 100,000 tickets in less than 15 minutes (a record for London's Hammersmith Apollo). Her series of 22 performances (entitled "Before The Dawn") was hugely successful, highly acclaimed, and once again set new standards of live music performance. Also in 2014, Kate became the first woman to have 8 of her albums in the Top 40 album charts at the same time (and she was 3rd only behind Elvis and The Beatles).
Kate Bush started out at around 16years of age playing and singing in pubs and clubs, she was found by David Gilmore from Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd took her under their wings and let her go on as a compliment act. And the rest is history back in the 80s I think!
A warm welcome as you are about to enter the Kate Bush rabbit hole and be transported away, I'm sure that you will have an interesting and enjoyable experience. As others have mentioned I agree that you are ready to go back to the very beginning and listen to Kate's debut single "Wuthering Heights" which became a worldwide smash hit, but not in America. There's a story behind the release of the song, but that can wait until your reaction! 😀
Kate Busch mon amour de jeunesse musicale c' est une surdoué du son et des notes des kes premières notes de sa voix et mon coeur n' a plus d armure plus de défense il est a nu et il pleure
I hope you will do Kate Bush song and video "Moments of Pleasure" I think you will love it. It's very unique and interesting. Kate is completely unique and always experimental.
Kate Bush was asked to write a song for a scene in the 80s John Hughes movie She's Having A Baby. The scene was where Kevin Bacon's character was told that his wife was in labor with complications called a bridge birth where the baby's feet are coming out first. The husband is in the hospital waiting room while this song is playing and while he reminisces about all of the good times that he and his wife shared together and he is feeling remorseful and regret for not being more of an adult and mature husband to his wife. In the end the wife and their baby are OK. And Kate Bush's character is OK in the music video too with the nurse's smile on her face. Maybe you should contact Kate Bush through her social media in order to meet her.
@@leerevelle9844 I know it's not very likely going to happen but it doesn't hurt. You never know that some celebrities or artists may be down to earth and are approachable.
High Stan good to see you. Last time I've seen a reaction to you was your reaction to Nightwish. Anyway Kate Bush great singer, story teller, dancer and piano player. Wuthering Heights do understand she is younger and her vocals are higher and a bit pitchier and the ran on a budget and the effects then was next to nothing compared to today's effects. Kate does a great interpretation of a Ghost trying to find her way back home to Heathcliff hence the blury misty effects. Do check it out. Thank you.
When people tell you can’t make your music don’t listen when music is not for us just for the business killing are groups and bad music wins don’t let happen
Trust me, you really need to react to Kate Bush's 1979 Xmas Special performance of her song "Egypt": ua-cam.com/video/B6mTxSqo7iI/v-deo.html It will show you another quite different side of Kate!
The one and only Kate Bush.
If there is a heaven, if there are angels, Kate is most definitely an angel from heaven.
This song always makes me feel really emotional
The tip of the iceberg!!!
Kate Bush is a vocally genius.
Penny Mcneela Just something that comes naturally to her. Her true genius is in her songwriting and production skills.

I love the supernatural elements in the video.

From around 1986 Kate began to direct all of her music videos - so gifted behind the scenes too.
She definitely multi talented
Hats off to Tim Mcinnerny playing her husband in this video. Really great acting.
MASTERPIECE

Love Kate (since 1978), however, she is weird (that is why I love Kate :-)
