  • The aim of this focus pad drill is to train out the bad habit of restarting a combination, just because it didn't go 100% according to plan! We always need to keep our objective in mind (which in this case is to hit the pad), and prioritise that over achieving perfection for perfection's sake.
As shown here, the drill should be started slowly, and with limited power.
As the puncher (and pad holder!) builds up confidence, the speed of the drill can be increased, along with the power put into the punches. However, there is no point in "running before you can walk"!

Love the drill. One critique, when she is inside the guard blocking with the rear hand opens her up for a jab from you to her head. If she was outside your guard this drill would train even better habits.

Shes not protecting her face? Wouldnt she be eating punches from the other hand? Great co-ordination drill though...but chin down and protect that jaw/chin.
    ps. Sick shades.
