    This is the ending where Takemura is shaken out of his blind loyalty to Arasaka. It was extremely unpleasant, but now he's finally free of that shackle. Bitter medicine. Similarly, V is also free of his terminal condition, but is unable to return to his old life, just like Takemura. Both of them took bitter medicine this route.

      It doesnt seem he's free of blind loyalty but like ... what's he gonna do , Arasaka is basically dead , if saburo turned up at his door tommorow he'd instantly be like " hell yea let's go get the corpo back". What I don't understand is why if V hits Arasaka (ending in which hanako also died) he kills himself but in this one which is basically same outcome as if V hits Arasaka he chooses to go on .

      @@mihaimax2180 The difference is when you analyze the messages from other endings. In other endings, it's implied that Takemura commits seppuku afterwards since he brings up death poems which samurai composed before they self-delete. In this ending though, even when Takemura laments that his life has been flushed down the toilet, this time, he isn't going to die over it.

    • @secondaryfront

      @@mihaimax2180 Because the outcome is not the same. In one outcome Takemura saved V and V helped to convince Hanako for his side but didn't help him later. In second outcome Takemura saved V and V "gratefully" destroyed the company Takemura served and gave the Yorinobu victory - making Takemura indirectly guilty of Arasaka's fall.
      The difference between feeling guilt and betrayed, and feeling left to work alone.

    I really still can't understand Takemura that well in this scene just because of the damn scowl he always wears on his face.
    To me though, sounds like he has a grudge against V for not getting the help he wanted, but also respect for V taking his own choice.
    He understands now where V was, and V was the thing keeping Takemura himself out of that situation, and kept trying to get him away from Saka.
    Takemura didn't listen to V, despite V trying to get Takemura out of his situation with the suits... and ultimately when he didn't listen?

      At this point Goro is looking at all the paths not taken, he might have gotten Saburo killed in his mind but he definitely got Hanako killed with V out of the picture. Dudes an old man who's world has been turned on his head and he's left with less than nothing, with no path forward back to what he sees as his home in Arasaka. The strong medicine analogy in my mind is Takamura looking at the conversations especially with either a Nomad or Corpo V and realizing he had an out, a chance to walk away from the system and become a nomad as he expressed that he wanted too but now he's a hunted man as the murderer of Hanako and his coup attempt.
      All the doors in his eyes are shut to him and now his only reprieve is to hide among the Night City masses and live in the squaller of his own choices (even though he could still leave as a nomad but at this point he's too proud for that, hence the scowls and his current disposition I think he feels like this is all he deserves as he doesn't want to face Saburo or Hanako in death in my mind)
      He's not even desperate like V is by the time they talked for the first time, he's resigned a worse fate in a lot of ways as at this point his hopes are dead, a sad and slow way to die either in body or mind.

      @Him535He and Reed both just make me sad. They both got framed and used and still pledge a blind loyalty to the death for organizations that discarded them long ago. I killed Reed in phantom liberty, sucks bc he was a cool character but at the same time I think it’s the only way he’d ever “walk away” from the FIA.

      You ignored the phrase: "strong medicine is bitter in the mouth", but the point is, it's still medicine and good for you. Even after everything that happened, Goro is thankful to V, it was his medicine to get out of Arasaka and finally be free, but a very bitter medicine that costed him everything.

    • @TheJuggerClutch
      @TheJuggerClutch 10 місяців тому +3

      @@Joaquin-rd3km exactly what I was thinking. His main obstacle to forming a new life for himself was Arasaka hunting him, but in this ending Militech/NUSA take over Night City and Arasaka's power in the world is severely diminished. So now he actually has the chance to leave it all behind and start anew. V not helping him is exactly the cause of this, so in the end he's grateful. Otherwise, he would have seppeku'd himself as soon as Hanako died and he failed to capture the tower.

    • @ved2360
      @ved2360 6 місяців тому +3

      Aside from the bitter medicine part, he has the magnanimity to congratulate V for his successful surgery instead of just cursing him to hell like in the other endings. He's not super _happy_ that V left him out to dry, but he's now better able to see V's perspective. In most of the other endings, V is directly responsible for destroying Mikoshi and toppling Arasaka. But in this ending it's purely Yorinobu's doing. So he can't conveniently blame V for everything that goes wrong. If V trashes Mikoshi, all he's able to see is a self-interested thief only looting Arasaka's corpse at the expense of destroying all he thinks is noble and good in the world.
      He's also been a street punk for about 2 years now, so that probably has helped him gain perspective on why people hate corps, as this attitude is something that genuinely confused him about V and Tom from Tom's Diner. When he arguse with V about it, he says that corpos are needed to keep order, then tries to mend bridges with V by saying their ideological argument is just grief from their personal losses. He just isn't willing to accept the deep hatred the poor have for corporations isn't just shallow nihilism or criminality until he's had to live in their shoes for a bit. And you'll notice that Goro calls you a thief for most of the game, and also calls your morals petty, showing his contempt for you as a person. He doesn't really believe anything you do has good reasons. It isn't really until you help his mission that you even merit consideration as a civilized person.
      He was also the biggest scariest Arasaka thug stomping on the weak. Now that he's on the other end of that, it probably doesn't looks so noble anymore to larp as a samurai or ninja.

    This is truly the only way to get Takemura to understand the reality of his situation.
    It's a shame that after so long he's finally getting his arc in not despising you completely.
    Also opens up the possibility that NPC V, Misty, and Takemura can all help each other out in their own little ways from here on. It's one helluva gut punch all the same, but this is a far better outcome than what the romance lunatics were asking for.

He's basically a guy who thinks he's living in a samurai film, except he learns he was never the hero and that everything he believed was a lie. Reed is just like Takemaru. Reed = absolute devotion to FIA; Takemaru = absolute loyalty to Arasaka. Even despite the fact both organizations tried to kill them they still remain loyal and devoted. They both deserve the Darwin Award because if you don’t grow, change, or evolve you will eventually become extinct. And depending on your play-through both of them can possibly become extinct. In my opinion, Cyberpunk whole philosophy is centered challenging the system, rejecting established norms, the balance of technology, and raising a middle finger to [corrupt] authority. Reed and Takemaru seem to be antagonistic despite being a ally. I think that’s why Johnny don’t like them.
    One last thing. Not to get too political but my close friend works at Apple. As of now Apple are trying to relocate as many of their employees to Austin, TX. Some think it’s because of the tax cuts they get out there so they are relocating a lot of assets there. Anyways, they are not really giving salary increases, travel compensation, or any other business means to adjust to the higher standard of living out there. Apple doesn’t care, why should it? It’s just another Arasaka or Militech as far as a business putting profit above all else.

      I think he's not quite sure himself haha. He believes with V's help, things with Hanako would've gone better. He could have continued to live serving Arasaka, and prove his innocence. He still sort of longs for that. On the other hand, his metaphor for V suggests V's actions were a cure. Feels to me like this Takemura has finally come to terms with the harsh reality of Arasaka, his perspective shifted, and it's thanks to V, but it's wildly uncomfortable for him nonetheless. Bitter medicine. He explains it perfectly.

    • @ved2360
      @ved2360 6 місяців тому +6

      He's feeling ambivalent. He's a man who just learnt everything he believed was a lie and that V was right all along to hate corps. He's going to be more than a little bitter and angry. But he also is basically a sci-fi samurai, so he's sincere and polite. He owes V congratulations and the admission that V owed him nothing in the first place. And he probably thinks it's dishonest and cowardly not to admit his faults. He doesn't want to, which is why it's 'bitter medicine.' It's kind of like losing a heated argument with a friend you disagree with and admitting they were right all along.
      You have to keep in mind that Goro basically thinks Arasaka is the light of civilization that keeps order. V is just criminal scum. A thief. You can only change his opinion of that in the main game by helping his revenge quest. If you attack Mikoshi, all he see is a vulture picking over what he thinks is noble and good in the world. You ruined his only chance of fixing the monarchy that he thinks holds everything together. That's why he curses V to hell in many of the other endings.
      In the Devil ending, he loses respect for Hanako, but only because he doesn't think Hanako is properly honoring a hero that helped him fix the empire. And he's genuinely upset they're treating V like a lab rat.
