Nicola has always had the best voice in the band. So very sad she was bullied so much by Chris Moyles, Sarah and Cheryl used to hide the newspapers from Nicola, to stop her reading horrible comments about herself. How that girl managed to survive all that negative stuff is amazing. Her singing on the steps at the 02 in 1013 the song ' Beautiful Cause you Love me ' is beautiful, it draws at your heart strings. And her singing ' What About Us' is awsome..

Nadine is the lead singer someone must have wanted to give nic the lead to this song because of the horrible people who called her ugly. when u can clearly see she isnt :)
Actually Nadine didn't want to sing a verse in this song. Everyone has a differing view why she would bizarrely choose to sing backing vocals only but Nadine herself gave the reason "she didn't like the concept of the song.".
When the concept of the song is unconditional love one wonders if Nadine knows what she's talking about or if she should just have admitted she couldn't stand going from lead vocal to being viewed by some as second best to Nicola.

@@lonelyhorse5313 Yes. Why do you think Nadine refused rather bizarrely to sing a verse on this song, for the first time ever? Because Nicola has grown so much in confidence and ability and this song highlights that they are equals vocally. And Nadine couldn't tolerate an equal. She doesn't have an appealing personality and her lack of emotion shows in her voice. All she has is the power vocal,and as Nicola demonstrated with ease she had that too. But she can also sing with passion, rage, vulnerability i.e emotively. Nadine cannot and she is not alone there, alot of reality singers are very superficial but Nicola made her face up to her limitations.
There is a reason Nadine's solo career failed embarrassingly while Nicola got rave reviews from the NME and the other press in the industry. Nicola can actually write material too and does so for other artists. Nadine can't even do that.

I just didn't like the way she treated Nicola or the way she said she refused to sing a verse in 'Beautiful cause u love me' because she didn't like the idea of a relationship not based on looks. 😨
But she was young then and we all say daft things. I prefer Nicola's singing voice because it has more character and can be quite ethereal (she sounds a bit like a female David Bowie on Sticks and Stones I kid u not! 😄) Also she is able to write her own material, a skill Nadine admits she lacks. To me it's just a whole different level.
But Nadine did have a powerful consistent voice, she never let them down live that's 4 sure.

I hope Nadine fans can graciously admit Nicola is equally skilled vocally. 👍She can do the power belting note that everyone admires Nadine for, BUT she also has a very emotive melodic voice that personally I don't think Nadine does. But that's just my opinion. It was never Nadine "holding the group together" as die hard deluded Nadine fans insist, Nicola never had the confidence to sing the way she was able to or the lads mags looks the industry wanted so she got less lyrics than all of the other 4.😒 In some songs literally a line. That way they didn't have to worry about her luscious red locks messing up their videos either. I remember seeing her in Long Hot Summer wearing tiny shorts and she actually had the best body of the band too.💋 The superficial management must have realised because she got camera time! 😉 She was hidden away and made to feel ashamed but she blossomed both personally and aesthetically 😊🌷. .That's why she has such emotion in her voice that Nadine cannot match. Hard knocks are a firm teacher and Nadine didn't have to learn. The haters made Nicola beautiful brave and strong xx xx💜
