I used to have this problem as well, and I figured out I wasn't baking them long enough. I would suggest baking for 35 + mins. Fimo clay will become very felxable, super scuplty reacts in a different way and I wouldn't recommend using that brand for jewelry. Different brands have a different reaction to baking times and heat just make sure you are baking according to instructions.

Nine month late but I’d also love a video about this. I use Fimo soft since I can’t get my hands on anything else right now, and I find them breaking no matter how long I bake them. I’ve baked for 30 mins as the package says - they break. I bake for 45 minutes - they break. And yes I bake on the right temp, though my oven isn’t very good at keeping the temperature, it diffs 20 C up and down during baking 😕

@@user-yx2cn7dn6c Hey, i use fimo soft and premo to make jewellery they are both amazingly flexible when baked however you need to condition them properly. If you dont condition them well enough the polymers wont bind together and they will just break.

Fimo Professional is the first clay I used, and I love it. The pure colors are great because I can use their color mixing formulas to get the exact colors I want every time. It bakes up great too. It also plays well with other brands of polymer clay. I definitely recommend trying it. I’ve tried the others, but I always end up going back to Fimo Professional. The Fimo leather effects is pretty cool too, but the colors don’t fully blend because of the fibers.

I tried Souffle and Kato and I fell in love with Souffle and I totally hate Kato. With the Souffle you don’t need to sand the peaces after baking because they look awesome and also there aren’t bubbles (it was a little bite sticky because the weather in Spain is super hot) with Kato is just the opposite. Bubbles, fingerprints, super hard to extrude... and I tried everything to avoid the bubbles and fingerprints, even working with 1 tile on top to make pressure and cleaning the surface after baking with pure acetone but the result was unsuccessfully! Thanks again! :)

Thanks for such a detailed breakdown of the qualities of these clay choices 😊 I am a Premo girl, your video has given me the inspiration to try souffle! I've found Fimo to be both crumble AND sticky at the same time. How?! Needles to say, no Fimo for me lol I completely agree with your take on Sculpee original. It's like trying to work with frosting! I was wondering, with your tutorials, you mention clay conditioner - a lot. My question is, does it compromise the integrity of the clay itself? My thought is it may weaken it. What are your thoughts on it? Thanks again 🌹

I've just started using clay and did lots of research on baking and whether a clay should be flexible ... apparently they will be flexible because it is a plastic ... however if the oven temperature is right and it is baked long enough with a tile in the oven to stabilize the temperature it should be ok for jewellery. I bake for one hour in a convection oven at 160C and I've had no trouble with discolouring or bubbling even with really cheap clay. I plan to coat my clays in clear two part resin to make it super strong. However, the handling of some of the clay has been super soft and sticky ... no good for canes.

Hi! How about the Fimo Professional brand? Have you tried that one. If yes what do you think ? Im from montreal and it is hard for me to find the souffle clay.. there's more fimo professional.. please let me know if you have any feeebacks on that brand to make earrings. :-) Also another question... To soften more the clay what you think of putting vaseline on it so it makes it easier to work with it? Will the clay looks nice after baking it?

Lol i probably should have done more research before buying alot of Sculpey 3. :/ I'm a beginner who wants to start making charms. Now I know not to get Sculpey 3 anymore, especially when I sell charms in the future.. Also I'm glad u said the kit isn't very good. I wasn't sure if i should buy it or not for charm making.

Hi, I'm looking to make ring and pendant mountings (gemstones settings). Is it necessary to put the clay in an oven after the desired shape is made or there's a way to make it dry without an oven? Does it stay strong or does it brake? I know nothing about it...Thank you.

I think as a beginner, very unexprienced sculpter, i have only used fimo as its been scary trying other clays, espcially if my oven starts to play up, or i make a mistake in the sculpting process. I'm embarking to make earrings for friends at christmas, so ive been looking at alternatives mainly for the rteasons below. Howewvr that said, my mate uses fimo, creating very professional looking finhsed pieces with no other glosses or special clays.
Fimo Soft- Very good clay and soft but sturdy on the hands, but can be a pain in the oven. Much like cookies, you can only tell if youve baked it enogh after it cools. I find it easy to work with, but if youre switching between colours they can merge easily, the pigments sticklingto your hands. Being a beginner out of all the clays fimo does, this was the easiest to get around with, just becasue of how easy and untempromentle it is. 7/10 for simplistic cartoon work.
Fimo Effect- I can't stand this. The range is confusing but iv'e found it a weird bridge betwenen fimo soft and proffesional,so that is a small ease. I find that this is the most tempromental in the oven, and it does not work well with what i do with the proffesional/soft clay. It is good for having accents, but if you do not know what you are doing with this, the finsh can be weird sometimes and looking at it overall, id say that this it is not good if it is used as frequasatly as pure colour sin either the soft/proffersional range.
Fimo Professional- This is probably the most balnced of clays fimo produces. It is very hard on the hand and borderline crumbly, sort of how other clays preform whe youve not sealed the bacg up well. The finihs i sgreat howver, wiht the colours getting bewtter come baking. It is very sturdy and does not have a tendency to break, hoevwr it does not blernd as easily. The plus side thopugh is that the pigment only really gets on your fingertips, and it does ot bolnd like glue to your table!
    - Have fun and lemme know youre opinions :)
    -- stay awesome as always!
