    I served in the Royal Navy prior to the ban being lifted and have no doubt that during my time I worked with men and women who had to endure the same double lives for fear of losing their careers. Let’s not though confuse prejudice towards those people with following the rules that were applicable at the time.

    I came out to my mam and dad and they said your Grandad will need to know who was liveing with us he had lost his wife and had been a police officer for 30years I went to see him in the Garden and told him He looked at me and said I used to arrest men like you in the 50s 60s 70s and then he said your still my Grandson and i am glad we live in an age where you can be who you want to be today being gay is not an issue Life has moved on and i am glad to see that the forces now as one of the top Gay employers I dont think the rank and file ever had a problem with gays back in the day but the law was the law and they did not break rules Ironic Queens regulation I would love tp have served today as me

      They will completely takeover, esp the women. It's a deviancy and in driving and unrelenting. Deranged, empowered minds. Putin/Russia and Xi/PRC are just licking their chops.

    🇯🇵In Japan, Amazon and some foreign companies are tolerant of L-GBT, but because it is a difficult country, it is unlikely that general companies, or even military organizations such as the Self-Defense Forces, will become tolerant anytime soon.

    Refreshing story of one man alone who has had live in such awful circumstances... I still regail to my kids how if you were LGBT pre this ban being lifted it was a stint in DQ's and binned as dishonourable discharge!... Utterly abhorrent in every way!....If anyone, no matter who they are and what their own life story is, can do their job to the high standards required within the services then that is all that should matter... I am sure it still hides away in a level of quiet discontent among some like his Captain on the carrier.. Utter Fossil like this should be frankly dumped into a museum... Sadly I am sure 100% there are still a few around and more than we imagine.

    It was well known about women being lesbians in the WRAC for many decades at least going back to the 1970s and probably longer than that.
    However, it was much more difficult for gay men;

    My father told me a story about when he and my mother, a PO Wren, were dating in 1942-3 and he commented on the amount of makeup, stockings, etc that she was buying (she was drafted to South Africa so no rationing). She told him that she was given the money by male RN colleagues to buy these things for them. She had no problem with it and brought me up the same. Sexuality has nothing to do with your ability to serve your country. Was Alan Turing's codebreaking nullified by his sexuality? Look up Willem Arondéus - a Dutch WW2 resistance fighter, recognised by Yad Vashem as Righteous Among the Nations for his part in bombing the records to slow down Jewish deportations, and an openly gay artist; his last words before being executed by Nazi firing squad were "Tell people that homosexuals are not cowards". If you're worried about working alongside gay people, that tells more about your self doubts than anything else.

    Prior to the relaxation of the NDA in this subject anyone discussing or defending homosexual rights would have suffered onboard consequences, official or unofficial. Nowadays if a member of the messdeck whistleblew about admittedly isolated cases of predatory homosexuality occurring in the confines of a ship would authorities swerve their responsibilities?
