I cashed my 200 dollar cheque but I won’t vote for the conservatives. Our member in Sarnia has not done a dam thing for us for 8 years and it doesn’t look like he’ll do anything going forward. He is what you call a broom handle candidate.

Ford obviously forgets that David Peterson called an expensive and unnecessary electric while he was 54% in the polls and Ontarians were struggling financially. He was resoundingly defeated. We need to show Ford the exit as he wastes $150 million of our money at a critical time in the province’s history, all for his own selfish aggrandizement. Deplorable behaviour.

The Century Initiative, a proposal aiming to increase Canada’s population to 100 million people by the year 2100, has sparked considerable debate, especially about the potential risks associated with such an ambitious goal. While its advocates, including prominent figures like Mark Carney, argue that this initiative will drive economic growth and ensure the country’s global competitiveness, there are valid concerns about the potential negative effects on Canadian society and the environment. These concerns include the strain on infrastructure, environmental impact, and social integration challenges, making the initiative a controversial proposal for some.
First, one of the primary concerns with the Century Initiative is the strain it may place on Canada’s already overstretched infrastructure. Canada’s population growth over the past few decades has already put pressure on its transportation networks, housing markets, and healthcare systems. Many major cities, such as Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal, are facing rising housing prices, traffic congestion, and overburdened public services. A significant increase in population without adequate planning for infrastructure development could exacerbate these issues, leading to poorer living conditions, increased inequality, and a potential decline in quality of life for existing residents. Additionally, expanding the population rapidly could lead to urban sprawl, further damaging the environment and leading to unsustainable land use.
Another concern is the environmental impact of a larger population. Canada is already facing challenges related to climate change, natural resource management, and biodiversity preservation. An increase in population, particularly without corresponding shifts toward sustainable development practices, could accelerate these issues. More people means greater demand for energy, water, food, and transportation, all of which contribute to environmental degradation. Given that Canada has vast natural resources, the increased demand could also lead to over-exploitation of these resources, worsening climate-related challenges. Without robust policies for environmental sustainability, the push for population growth may result in increased pollution, habitat loss, and further strain on Canada's ecosystems.
Social integration is another challenge that cannot be ignored. While Canada has long prided itself on its multiculturalism and inclusive society, an influx of immigrants to reach the 100 million target could create tensions if proper integration strategies are not put in place. Integration goes beyond just providing immigrants with basic services; it requires fostering social cohesion, ensuring equal access to opportunities, and addressing potential discrimination. If the necessary steps are not taken to help newcomers assimilate into Canadian society, there could be increased social divides and tensions between different cultural groups. Furthermore, increased immigration may lead to a rise in populist and anti-immigrant sentiments, as seen in many countries around the world.
Mark Carney, a key figure in the Century Initiative, supports the idea of population growth as a means of addressing Canada’s demographic challenges, particularly its aging population and low birth rate. Carney, a former Governor of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England, has long been an advocate for economic growth driven by immigration and diversity. He has argued that expanding Canada’s population through immigration will enhance its global competitiveness and economic strength. However, his support for the Century Initiative comes with potential contradictions. Carney is also a vocal advocate for climate action and sustainable finance, and increasing Canada’s population by such a large margin could lead to environmental consequences that run counter to his commitment to addressing climate change.
Furthermore, Carney’s leadership role in the financial sector raises questions about the economic feasibility of the Century Initiative. While immigration can undoubtedly contribute to economic growth, the costs associated with integrating millions of newcomers, expanding infrastructure, and ensuring the well-being of all citizens must be carefully considered. Carney’s global expertise could prove invaluable in addressing these challenges, but the initiative itself may ultimately prove more complicated and costly than anticipated, especially if it is pursued without considering long-term sustainability.
In conclusion, while the Century Initiative offers a bold vision for Canada’s future, it is not without significant drawbacks. The potential strain on infrastructure, environmental concerns, and the risks of social fragmentation make it a contentious proposal. While Mark Carney’s involvement is based on his belief in the benefits of population growth and economic development, the initiative’s long-term success will depend on carefully addressing these challenges and ensuring that the benefits outweigh the costs. Without a comprehensive plan that balances growth with sustainability, the Century Initiative could ultimately harm rather than help Canada’s future prosperity.

We should get rid of the income tax. If we had more money we would spend more, which would create more jobs and industry and the government would still get our money! Plus more.

15:09 you need to be more than assertive 😂 being assertive can help you get what you want, but it won’t help you in situations where you’re being threatened by an animal 🤣 you need to be overly assertive in a way where you are aggressive. Do people not understand the difference between assertive and aggressive?

Black Birkin bag, this is the first good choice I made. I can afford a Kelly bag in any color. If I were 25, I'd probably buy it. But now I consciously don't want to date a woman who has a Kelly and a Birkin. After coming into contact with kislux , I am more willing to invest the money saved in my own growth.
