Manipur riots are way more complicated then we can perceive, with deep historical roots.
Manipur has population of about estimated 3.3 million people. More than half are Meiteis, while around 43% are Kukis and Nagas, the predominant minority tribes.
Tensions boiled over when Kukis began protesting against demands from the Meiteis to be given official tribal status, which the Kukis argued would strengthen their already strong influence on government and society, allowing them to buy land or settle in predominantly Kuki areas. The Kukis also say a war on drugs waged by the Meitei-led government is a screen to uproot their communities. Illegal migration from Myanmar has heightened tensions. There is pressure on land use from a growing population.
Meitei, Kuki and Naga militias have for decades fought one another over conflicting homeland demands and religious differences, and all sides have clashed with India's security forces. The latest flare-up, however, is almost entirely between the Meitei and the Kuki. This time, the conflict is strictly rooted in ethnicity, not religion.
With such long rooted hatred cannot be solved in few days, the people of Manipur have to move on from their past and show some patience and try to find a way to co exist, if the people of Manipur are not ready then despite more than 60,000 armed personnel deployed such incidents will continue to happen.
The worst is the inability of government to do the right thing.
It shows that even though humans/homo sapiens evolved over time.. fundamentally we are still chimps/apes fighting for territories, class differences.

Edit: Watched the movie and it has really good acting, great writing, and great direction. Definitely deserved a theater.

Varun Dhawan has always been a good actor. Look at October, Badlapur, Sui Dhaaga and even Bhediya, Jug Jug Jeeyo. His father and Remo Dsouza ruined his career. He should work more with capable directors like Nitish Tiwary, Sriram Raghavan, Sujit Sircar.
Every word is so true. People are not ready to accept VD as a good actor. Unko bas ek baat mil gai ki overacting krta h to bas uske hi peechhe pade rahte h. Bhai jab tumhe overacting nahi pasand to waisi films dekhte hi q ho achhi movies dekhlo na uski
Jahnvi Kapoor was amazing and did complete justice to the role. I felt really bad for her in the scenes where she was mistreated by Ajju. Negating her performance by saying 'Kiara Advani would have done better' is not fact.

I had mixed emotions for this one. While I did like the perspective of showing that a completely superficial person steps out of his comfort zone to realise that life is more than putting up an image and how small our daily issues seems when you think about what humanity has seen all these years. But, somehow, certain dialogues seemed so tone deaf . Comparing marital turmoil to mass genocide, saying we all have a shade of Hitler. Absurd. The treatment of VD towards JK and somehow we are expected to root for them. And I was split, because he treated her like shit for almost a year, seemed just weird to imagine that someone like him can change.
My answer also same, no different.

Watched movie after this review.. And yes movie is entertaining,and keep us engaged in whole movie. Hatss of to the writer who correlate the 1939 event with 2023. Movie doesnt seem long or with unnecessary scenes.. Evrything is relevant and crisp., Imaginng the current situation in world war 2 is awsome... And yes, this kind of movie in theatre is always a risk as majority peoples are not used to of this kind of cinema where no flying cars, no flying heros and all.. We wish varun capture the this kind of role in future. As we all realy liked his role in badlapur and october. We must agree that Varun has potential..!!
Just watch this movie and seriously thinking why this movie is releasing on OTT. Such a nice feel good film which you can watch with your family.

The first word about the film always seems to be opined by shubham. Rajesh initially seems to disagree but then gives in.

Varun is really a very good actor. I watched his Badlapur where he did a completely different role post SOTY movie. I called him better than Sidharth Malhotra

I would disagree for the first time with Honest Review, the movie felt alot rushed to even feel that VD is even understanding the impact of War.
And we cant even compare holocaust with a failed marriage, its very much insensitive imo. But Janhvi kapoor issue really was dealt in a good way and the songs were not good at all considering Nitish previous movies

Didn't like the movie got pretty boring from the EU trip. Starting was ok as it had a feel of light hearted movie. The concept of WW2 and going to EU was good but the execution was not good. There was hardly any contribution from the Jhanvi Kapoor, it was full Varun Dhawan movie, he didn't even learn the LKO language he was in his Mumbai slang. the hero side kick was perfroming better UP side acting. That is the reason Kartik Aryan seems to be doing well now. Even with average stories he seems to be adding a fun tadka. Could have been a 1 time watch if it had the entire comedy feel, rather than mixing history.

Comparing a relationship problem with WW2 , comparing a toxic personality with Hitler who did mass genocide several times, and Seperation from a toxic marriage with a couple who have been seperated because of WW2 is inhuman... Dialogues like ' in every relationship there is a Auschwitz',' hum sab bhi to tode bohut hitler jaise he' said by Nisha a sensible character... Except Varun Dhawan's performance nothing was impressive in the movie...
