    Wait a minute we didn't actually see you slide /put the shifter handle into the rebuilt unit . How much force does it take ,can it go in misaligned etc.

    It’s the little things like the information on the Die drills that makes all the difference for the weekend warrior when you trying to drill through a material that’s been hardened

    Paul, I could watch these types of videos all day!! My ‘68 Firebird 4 spd is developing an issue where it isn’t very hard to get into reverse instead of first! It’s got 90+ thousand miles on it, and is probably due to be pulled out and gone through, but I’m trying to get an idea of what I’m looking at before pulling it. Don’t want to budget $100 if it’s gonna be best to do a full rebuild. Thank you!

    You seem a little more sussed if that is the word for it. I know you been threw a lot lately. It will get better by time. Any way great job on the shifter. I was a tool and die maker. You can use a high speed good drill if you know how to grind the drill point different. We did a lot of that stuff it the shop 60 years ago.

      We make our own kits... Read video description. I do not make rebuild kits for the A833 but I do for the Hurst shifter. Most parts are from hurst

    Can you do a video on a A833 or the chevy np440. I would like to rebuild one to put in my fj40 but the out put rear shaft is too long. Can it be shortened or is there a shorter shaft you can buy? Thanks fore some of the best tranny videos on youtube.

      Their are different length transmissions. If one comes in the shop I will do a video on it.

    Can you use a carbide reamer instead of a die drill?

    • @GearBoxVideo
      @GearBoxVideo  2 роки тому +1

      You could, but I found that the reamers actually don't last as long. The hole comes out perfect the way I've been doing it.

    Great video Paul, I'm building an a-body A833 in South Africa which is a bit of a Frankensteins monster (B-body front and gears with 1965 ball and trunnion A-body tail and rear shaft.) I don't have my Hurst shifter with me yet but how far should the stops penetrate or do they but up against the gates at full shift? Thanks for a great channel.

    my shifter has the isolators, i want to replace old short handle with a longer handle, this is for a 34 ford, when ordering new shift handle will the two hole handles i see fit into the receiver or does it need to be the same type base without holes?
    i hope my question makes sense.....thankyou

    • @GearBoxVideo
      @GearBoxVideo  Рік тому

      You have to change the receiver to a bolt on style. I have several in stock. Contact info is in the video description

    Hi Paul, great information. Is there a fix to repair the worn shift shaft to shift lever fit, without replacing parts. Can I build them up with brass, tig weld, shim, file to fit?

    • @GearBoxVideo

      I never repair those, just find better used ones or new ones.

      I have vices that are locked down and some that are not. For work that requires a locked vice, I use it. I like being able to move a vice around for light work. Shop has 6 vices
