I had the PS Audio Pre-amp and Phono stage amp at one time and I have to say, they were the best sounding amps I have ever owned. And I've owned quite a few. In fact, I'd give anything if I could find a set again. This time I will NOT get rid of them. Great work, Paul.
Merry Christmas to everyone at PS, Thanks Paul for all the all the videos and for making high end audio fun and understandable. All the best in the new year.
Wow that room really looks amazing. I wish I were closer, to drop by and listen to it... Great video as always Paul. It's so interesting to hear to everything you share.
Wow absolutely amazing. What makes this video so good is the presentation too.Genuinely warm and friendly.I bet PC Audio is a superb place to work.....just love what you guys do.
I'd love to hear that system. Back in 1989 I got to hear a system based on IRS Betas. It was quite an experience. The servo towers have great bass that is never overpowering and very much in control and can produce that "in the air" feeling you get when playing a huge pipe organ! Love it!
I would really like to hear that infinity model one day... I have the "IRS" Omega myself, and even though some say it should no be called a IRS, is one of the best speakers i ever heard. Can only imagine what these sound like...
Having one of those listening rooms makes it all worthwhile. Like dropping a big block in and starting it up for the first time. Thanks. Your channel gives me hope
I have always wanted to visit your town, now I have a real excuse to. I would love to spend an hour in that room experiencing those IRS 5’s. It’s on my bucket list now. Keep up the great videos. Many thanks. Scott.

Wow, that is one awesome room. I hope that I get a chance to visit one day. I'm poor and don't expect to ever be able to afford anything near the level of equipment in this room but I plan to build my own audio/theater room in the next few years and would love to hear what one is supposed to sound like.
Absolutely incredible, and I am sure it will blow your mind hearing it! I can't even imagine what it would be like to crank up some of your favorite tunes on that system. Thx for the tour and I really enjoy all the knowledge you share with us. Sincerely.. -aj
I heard these speakers once before about 20 years ago and they are amazing. They were at a local hifi shop in Edmonton Alberta Canada. At the time the retailer was saying they where $50,000. Worth every penny in my mind.
That is sure amazing, if I ever get out that way I would love to hear it. The Nipper dog is cool also. I always liked those also. You need the old phonograph with the horn speaker now to set in front of him. Thanks again.
I sit watching this on my TV which is connected to my stereo which has a set of Infinity RS 4/b speakers (2 eight inch woofers, a poly sphere mid range and a single EMIT tweeter) they sound really good but looking at this I have drool running down my chin, lol. Thanks for the tour!!
Paul McGowan ....I grew up across the river from Albany NY , they had an RTA dealer 1958 was the year and NIPPER is still sitting atop of the building . Nipper stats are as follows ... 4 TONS and 28' tall , now that would be cool out front of your building . Great sound room if i ever hit the lottery i will give you a call ..lol
Great room. I remember hearing these in the a Toronto hifi shop back in the 80s. A couple of us heard Pink Floyd coming from the back of store. They were blasting it on this Infinity system. Once we stepped into the back, smoke came out of the amps and that was it. On a side note, you're using the chairs I always wanted in my listening room. I eventually got one but removed it quickly. The reason is, and I'm surprised more people don't know this, but the high leather headrest creates reflection that change the sound. As does a baseball cap or heavy clothing around your head. That's my experience. Love your channel Paul!
Back in my audiophile days (mid-eighties), I auditioned a lot of high end stuff... Infinity, Polk, Magnepan, Thiel, Paradigm, Warfdale, B&W, Klipsch, and I never heard anything that impressed me as much as Vandersteen. Vandersteens don't sound like most other speakers, and a lot of people don't like their sound, but I never found a speaker that was less fatiguing. Loud, high dynamic range, killer bass is all great, but I'll gladly trade a lot of that for a speaker that is easy to listen to, that doesn't assault your ears after a few hours.
Wow...!!! You should have a drawing for a trip out to Colorado to get a tour and a chance to sit and listen to you're music room. I've heard some really nice set-ups in my day but, nothing quite like that. (hint, hint...) hahahaha. GREAT video, Paul...!!! Thank you, Sir...
I love watching his daily vlogs and what I would not give to spend an hour or two in this room. But hey Paul, one of the best sounding source items is out of use. Fit a top fight arm and cart and dust off that vinyl on your shelves. Keep the vlogs coming Mr McGown, you explain things in a simple to understand, calm and gentle way.
Noticed you had one of my favorite CD's sitting out Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble "The Sky Is Crying" I have the MFSL UDSACD 2078 version and it is just amazing to listen too, that and AIC's Jar of Flies are great demos for people
Hi Paul! I live in Broomfield and want to come to experience this room SO MUCH!! I'll call to make an appointment. I have been watching your videos. You are my new best friend and we haven't even yet met!
You can really hear your voice change when you approached the diffusers. It got real dull like. Thanks for the tour. Hope to get there one day. Thanks again!
Question - with high end setups I often see the amps on or very close to the floor, sitting on stone slabs or a very low shelf. Is this to provide the most stable platform for them or because they are heavy as heck or both?
Paul, You covered everything in Music Room 1, except the components! Show us each one, and tell us something about it, such as how it may be connected, what cables, why; how everything switches on; etc. For a component manufacturer to gloss over his components is quizzical. However, I love the fact that your turntable shelf is covered in CD boxes! A man after my own digital ears!
There is a reason that ps audio makes some of the BEST hi end equipment in the world and this man is the reason. People who don’t understand the technology or can’t afford it just want to be negative. Best to keep that in mind when reading some of the negative comments
In 1983 I owned the reduced size RS-1 Improveds, with seven EMIMs, 4 EMITs, and six 8 inch subs per side. In my room, at least double the width and four times the length of yours, the sound was good. The low bass was the best I've ever heard (thank goodness the speakers were on a concrete slab). But when I moved to an apartment, not so great. I completely rewired my speakers, and am surprised you have not done that. The Monster Cable wire they came with is marginal, to say the least. But I am sure they sound good!
Damnit, I was perfectly happy with my Infinity RS-IIs til I watched this. Why did you have to do this? LOL. Actually I still am, I love these speakers. Best sounding speakers I've ever owned. Incredibly realistic and non-fatiguing at the same time. A difficult thing to do.

That music rooom costs more than my whole house, and car; if I had a house, or car!
Then you probably have an ex-wife?
Rexin Oridle that music room costs more than the whole building with 46 flats and 2 garages full of cars
Rexin Oridle *in my case
And the system weighs 2645 lbs!! What the flying fck

The IRS were great back in the day but modern speakers at a similar price will give you better quality at a smaller footprint.

Man OFF THE CHAIN !!! WOW
question, dont you have huge comb filtering problems with 12+ drivers in a row top to bottom?? and phasing problems?
wooooow this is sick
Why put the bass units behind? For better time alignment wouldn't it make sense to put them forward instead?
I agree, but they might be delayed by a dsp.
Check out the two wings with the mids and tweets on both sides. There's enough time alignment and comb filtering issues right there. It may sound live-ish and absolutely amazing, but accuracy is suffering.
Here's the thing when it comes to audio. You can either recreate accuracy or a live sounding sound stage and/or low distortion, but never all three.
Line arrays are great if you need high sound power level and low driver distortion. But they will compromise accuracy due to comb filtering. There are often timing issues without a dsp when the bass modules are separate.
Point source are great if you desire pure accuracy at moderate volumes.
High end, uber expensive systems which claim they're the ultimate no compromise system is kind of a joke for those in the know. There are amazing systems but not a one of them can ever be perfect.
