I feel like the insurance company may have beef with that opening statement as well.

Uk Clarkson: "unlike the us military we leave a man behind"
so first you're telling me there's a korean version of top gear and now you're telling me they had a live (if unintentionally) HELICOPTER CRASH?
Well that's $11,300,000 down the drain. that's a whole 10th of an old British Top Gears episode's revenue gone.
It must not be completely destructed, only the rotor, must be the engine, and some other parts,
NTSB: „The pilot reported that he was conducting flybys to film a segment for a documentary. During his last run, he initiated a 150- to 180-degree climbing right turn to about 200 ft above the ground. After the turn, he attempted to neutralize the flight controls in preparation for a normal approach to land, but he was unable to move them. The helicopter remained in the same turn rate with the same collective pitch and cyclic input until ground impact. A postaccident examination of the helicopter revealed no evidence of preimpact mechanical malfunctions or failures that would have precluded normal operation. The reason for the flight control malfunction could not be determined.“
There was no flight control malfunction. Looked like the helicopter just simply lost control. I.e he just turned too sharply at too low of a speed and it just lost any chance of recovery. I'd say it was similar to a death spiral in a plane. He probably just didn't have enough altitude to correct it. You can see that just before he hit the ground. It started tilting back up. I reckon of he was 30-40 feet higher he would've been fine. Oraybe it would've spiraled even more who knows. That's my non educated guess anyways. Probably wrong. Not that anyone cares I'm just really into helicopters and well any type of aviation vehicle and have a lot of time in sims and have flown gliders within cadets and such.

Until it wasn’t...”
Last words from the pilot before he crashed
"watch this" quickly followed by "oh shit".
He then got out of the wreckage and said "the best helicopter crash in.... the world"
funny enough 3 years later richard hammond crashes the rimac after saying watch this...l
He bet his friends he'll crash a $7 million chopper in front of a camera. He won two beers.

Staff: -But what about the pilot???
Exec. Producer: -Not our business anymore
I respect the guy for running out to help
Props to the guy in the car for getting out to help when he came out of shock
You just are assuming that. Maybe he got out of the car quickly, in order to run away from the scene of the accident. Maybe he also had an accident and needed a change of pants,... there are almost infinite possibilities. Assuming the best, is very noble of you, but usually, that's not the case. Most people suck.

I’m guessing it was because he was saying “but something was gonna go horribly wrong” or something like rhat

If I just lost a race with my helicopter against a car, I would have done the same.
Øne-Hit Disaster a helicopter can't keep with a modern muscle car though
There’s a high persuit video of a hellcat losing a police helicopter on a highway.
@@tonymontana3873 they're not slow but boy howdy are they not the fastest. Their main advantages in terms of speed are they don't have to worry about roads and they don't need a runway to takeoff and land. Beyond that yeah most of them hit like 150 mph tops i think. Not blistering fast but compared to a dude on the highway not slow
Honestly, that was my favorite part too. Regardless of whether he knew the pilot or not, he rushed over there to help without saying anything obnoxious first. That's true concern, right there. Refreshing to see.
Top gear UK: crashes ratings
Top gear Korea:
Nice move, Captain Hotdog. 100% preventable. As a former Cobra pilot, this pains me.
And on that disappointing note.... * Stares into the camera * Back to the tent
0:58 literally everyone who tried to pilote an helicopter in battlefield for the very first time
Obviously the pilot "rage-landed"...
Having been in the hosts situation, his reaction is one of instinct. Sitting there for 20 seconds frozen before shaking yourself and realizing you need to act
It’s nice to see him get out and try and help the situation
At least the Korean guy was nice enough to jump out of the car and run to the crashed helicopter
His reaction is so pure
Cant wait for Top Gear Somalia haha
eyj 5280 top gear America... all the white school shooters ended up killing all the presenters
"They don't know it yet, but today we'll be taking a look at that ship"
This boat can go faster to catch up to those cargo ships, the hull is bullet proof up to a .50 bmg, and there is a cup holder.
The Cobra couldn't handle the shame of being beaten by a Corvette, so it committed suicide.
Happy to hear that no one lost their lives.
At 1:12 , u can tell the exact moment this man’s face went from victory.. to “uh oh”
I lobe how even in other versions of top gear, everything can go wrong
Pilot probably spotted a dugtrio.
You just made me choke on my cig omg... 4yrs this gem has hidden from me.
So I take the car won?
Hats off to the presenter/driver for running to towards the crash to help in any way I’m sure.
I don't think the pilot enjoyed losing.
Ahhh, the old low level steep turn...so often they end in tears...pilot error all the way.
Good thing the crash was at a low angle with little roll, could of been much worse

Funny thing, 7 years later I realized that there is (or was) top gear korea

This is a testament to the design and ruggedness of this chopper. The Cobra has undergone many upgrades since it first was introduced.
I know what it feels like being the pilot. Happens to me all the time when I play battle field.

its a AH1P , powerfull but slow and hard on movement. Its not that manoeuvrable, especially at high speeds. That was just a cocky pilot...
@Ashutosh Choudhari The original topgear had episodes that took place in countries other than the uk so it would stand to reason that the korean topgear would follow a similar model.
This program is made in SOUTH Korea.
.
NORTH Korea is just poor country so North can't make program like this.

And this was caught in America. The pilot is American.

So many ignorant comments on this page.

What are you on about? North Korea could easily afford to make this show.
I mean, they'd have to starve the rest of their country and most of their government, but yeah. Easily.
Interesting to see this on the reccomended.
"Anyway... back to the studio!"
Race a corvette they said, it'll be fun they said.
classic turning stall -- pilot turns the aircraft around too tight without enough forward velocity. Aircraft loses lift, and drops like a stone.
I can see that would be true of a fixed-wing aeroplane, where if it becomes very low speed to make a tight turn there is too little relative velocity of air over the wings, hence too little lift. But surely a helicopter doesn't need forward velocity? ALL its lift is from the velocity of the rotary blades, which continue rotating even if the helicopter is stationary?
WAOW! So glad no one died.
That was epic!
Hammond: "What do we do now?"
Clarkson: "RUNAWAY!!"
May: "Running away!"
I don't think top gear Korea realise that the pause at the finish line is supposed to show how close the race was.... u didnt even see the helicopter cross... at all.
I remember in Grand Tour where Jeremy said "whats our budget again?"
If that was Top Gear UK they wouldn't have stopped and gone up to help but rather runaway and hide.
Nah they would just go up to the driver say fix it and we'll see you later
Daniel Hodge I wasn't okay sorry my mistake but that is rude thanks for correcting me
If this was TopGear UK, There would be a really big emergency squad on standby... Since it's TopGearUK, Something like this will never happen anyways, just like nothing like this happened in the past 25+ years of TopGear.
Daniel Hodge That wasn't down to TopGearUK though, it was a faulty car problem, they had no knowledge it would do that. Besides there was still a massive safety crew on standby including an Ambulance and Fire truck
"Oh. Well... if YOU want to be our new helicopter pilot, write to..."
"I think he's still alive"
"Oh, never mind."
If it was a michael bay movie the chopper wouldve crashed into the car and then a giant explosion

Imagine Clarkson's driving the car and this thing happened. His reaction would be totally priceless.
Very dangerous banking the helicopter so low. Can cause the helicopter to stall. Pilot is an idiot and should have known better
And with that, back to the studio
That crashed may have LOOKED easy.....
...but that simple act was the product of many years of experience!
A true top gear fan will know that the helicopter pilot was under the influence of a moustache.... From the police chase episode.
Yes he was under the influence of a moustache
Completely distracted by his face decoration
Sooo true haha
Should I go shave? I don't want to crash too.
