This show is like a Motown classic...young folks ask me if it was last weekend, or last month or even last year...I have to tell them their father and mother was still wet behind their ears..
The influence of hip hop,& the fact that many schools don't have music programs like they used to is troubling. I love to see that the original bands still perform, but where are the kids starting bands to keep go-go relevant? ??
Moms came to the Howard to get me one night...whoop my ass in front of the police, gave me $5,to get back in...told her if I couldn't se RE ..I was running away...
Melvin Pearson Today we have old school vs new school. There bands that crank like RE,well not quite, but I digress. We have the bounce beat vs the pockets and Socket grooves of the 80s and 90s.I don't know you, but I believe you are pro- socket and pocket beats of RE! LOL peace!
To Tell The Truth: Donnell was the best sax player in gogo back in the day. He lost it for some reason. You gotta remember.....the guys were teenagers back them. In practice...Reads use to think he was the shit on guitar. Until they discovered Andre Johnson....Whiteboy.
Over DC ? How lol . The man played 2 instruments and stepped waaay better than D Floyd . Anybody in the original band would tell you that . Floyd the best hype man yeah ....but uh
Discovered Yt Boy ? Andre has ALWAYS been the original lead guitar player. Redds was simply filling in when he had to go down south (I think Louisiana) during the summer at times in the early days.
