    Yeah it’s tough, but you get used to it, and it becomes easier. You start to get the hang of organizing yourself and prioritizing everything. 2nd year is the hardest year so be prepared! Good luck man, if you need advice or help with anything let me know.

    I'm studying for the DAT right now, and its grueling! I got so caught up in being hard on myself and wondering why I wasn't able to study 10 hours a day everyday (seriously, I'm so delusional at times). It's nice to see the other side and I can't wait to eventually be there. I also love how motivated you are, kind of reminds me of my aspirations! Love your videos, keep up the great work. You've got one more subscriber! 😃

      Eqra, thank you so much for your thoughtful comment!! First of all, best of luck with the DAT! To this day, it was one of the hardest times of my life, so I understand how you feel right now. Keep your head up and absolutely do not compare yourself to others! Control what you can control and keep everything in front of you! You are much more capable than you realize! Dental school is such an exhilarating goal to shoot for! I promise it’s all worth it even though it’s just a whole lot more studying and hard work. Thank you for the comment and subscription! I’m really excited about everything that I will be releasing on the channel soon!

    This video was so helpful!! In addition to maintaining a healthy diet and exercising regularly,, I think having a healthy sleep schedule is really important too. I actually intend on applying to the DDS program at UTHSC myself, as soon as I earn my Bachelors of Science in Chemistry. I should have two years of undergrad left, but I've somehow managed to maintain all A's throughout my college career while being overloaded with credits each semester. So, my fingers are crossed that I may be lucky enough to recieve an early admission before then. I've had my RDA license since before I ever even graduated highschool, and I have been working full time at a local practice ever since then. The doctors that I work for are UT alum and so I'm hoping that a reccomendation letter from them will have a postive influence on my application. However, I know how competitive dental school can be. I love to learn and I take the opportunity to do so any chance that I get - but is there any other kind of dental experiences/activities that I should be trying to involve myself with so that I can be an applicant who stands out?

    • @stephenraydentist
      @stephenraydentist  3 роки тому +1

      kalynn cox I agree completely on the sleep schedule point! Also it sounds like you are well ahead of the curve when it comes to your predental requirements! I would look into Remote Area Medical. Not sure how covid has impacted them but I did multiple of their clinics and was able to actually assist on the dental floor. Great experiences for learning and adding to that already great resume. My last piece of advice for you is to just work very hard on the DAT and do well. Use DAT Bootcamp and you’ll be fine! UT greatly values a good DAT score so that’s important!! You’re absolutely on the right track! Best of luck and I’ll see you on campus in a few years!

      @@stephenraydentist Thankyou for the input, I will definitely be looking into that! I have made it a point to attend every pre-dental web seminar that I can find. Through other social media platforms, I have been keeping up with UTHSC Dentistry and all of its specialties, the campus's student organizations, the ASDA, our district 4 chapter, and much of the talented staff and students that help make up UT. I have been interacting with the organization and all that it has to offer on a regular basis in hopes that my name is recognized. I know that I have taken a few (not enough yet) different kinds of DAT crash courses, but I am worried about retaining outdated information. Does the curriculum of the exam fluctuate every year? Or is the substance of it generally the same?
      Thankyou for all of your advice, I'm wishing you the best of luck!

      kalynn cox I’m always up to help that’s why I made this channel! And as for the DAT, yes the information will remain the same every year. That being said there is so much information for which you are responsible that every test turns out completely different. I highly recommend DAT bootcamp. It may be a bit pricey but it’s 100% worth the money. It’s a comprehensive program that’ll get you from start to finish. Any areas that you struggle with you can always supplement with other resources! Best of luck to you as well! You sound like you’re in fantastic shape so just keep working hard and you’ll get there!

      Would mind sharing how you studied and prepared for your courses. I have a really heavy course load due to my course requirements that I need and I am Second year. I did first year online and I really struggled especially with 2nd semester as I primarily basically transcribed my notes and wrote in a notebook it was really time consuming and I kinda found out that just because it takes longer doesn't mean it gets higher marks so I would greatly appreciate it for your input

    at what age can you applaud to dental school?

  • @evanlubken4229

    I am a junior in high school and I am the first high school kid to be apart of a dental assisting program in the United States. My goal is to become a dentist and it is something I have always wanted to do. I am doing this dental assisting program so I under stand and get more experience before dental school. It is also something to make me stand out to dental schools. Out of high school I will be a CDA. I have a preceptor, and I go to his practice and shadow right now. The thing that I am worried about is that I am starting so young and what if I don’t make it into dental school and all this is a waste. I guess I’m just wondering if I am a dental assistant all the way from out of high school and through college should I be prepared enough to get into dental school, and will that be something that makes me stand out from others.

      I’m going to tell you this! I have wanted to be a dentist my entire life. My dad is a dentist, so I have grown up around it. That being said, I didn’t become truly serious about making it into dental school until college. I’m not saying this was necessarily the right approach, but it was just how my life went. Things have worked out for me. What’s important for you is to keep that desire to become a dentist burning! Make sure you’re always making decisions based on your dream. But! Enjoy yourself! College is one of the best times of all of our lives, and it is a time when we can truly find out about ourselves and what we want with our lives. Focus on dental school, but make sure you’re enjoying these years of your life because they are so important! You’re way ahead of the game, and you will become a dentist one day! Just take everything a step at a time and enjoy yourself while you do it! Keep watching! I’ll try and talk more about my journey to dental school in the near future!
