- Judge Ural Glanville threatened the state and the defense with working over the weekend after Judge Glanville and defense attorney Max Schardt got into a shouting match about a motion he filed on Tuesday. The judge yelled at the court about keeping the jury waiting and prolonging the trial.

He is annoyed because the defense is stalling and could have filed a motion in limine concerning the witness in 2022. In fact, he shouldn't hear any motions in limine after the start of trial. He should have the attorneys object as the evidence is presented.

@@oceancat0450 No. A lot of them act like this. I’ve actually seen worse. I saw a judge throw paperwork at an attorney. I saw one ask an attorney if they completed law school. lolol! (only funny because it wasn’t me) They are very conservative about ridiculing each other. I think it’s because if you look at any one’s specific history, you’ll see a time when they did something similar. Also, this is also just my conjecture, I think maybe it’s like being a teacher. The first year, you’re really nice, but you learn from kids acting out, so in the following years, you act a way based on past classes instead of the current class. So maybe he admitted he was wrong in the past or ignored his biased feelings in the past and it backfired? idk.

Motion in limine are used to prevent/limit certain evidence from coming in for various legal reasons such as relevancy, hearsay, unreliability, redundancy, and time wasting, to name a few.
The motion is almost always filed BEFORE the jury is seated, unless new evidence is presented. In this case, the evidence ( witness that the defense wants to exclude due to conflictof interest) was known to the defense in 2022. They sat on their hands about the issue and did nothing. Now in 2024, they file the motiin which further delays the proceedings. It is unprofessional.

@@IntegrityMeansAll I mean when they dismiss the jury and the judge starts screaming and a few of the testimonies, the jury wasn’t there because the judge decides what the law is supposed to be and the jury decides the facts, so when there is a matter of law, like a witness eligibility disagreement or a motion, the judge dismisses the jury, so they don’t hear it. 🤷🏾♀️
That’s why he was getting mad when they objected. Basically, they are supposed to “guesstimate”” what they “might” object to, (per judge, to save time) because the jury can’t hear the arguments for the motions. They haven’t heard almost any lawyer judge drama. They don’t know about the prosecution “mistakenly” forgetting discovery.
If you clip the trial to just what the jury is hearing, i don’t want to say it b/c ppl get mad, but . . . It’s more even than we think. IMHO.
@@ChrissyBeTalking Wow, I didn’t know any of that happened but I also haven’t followed most of it. I was under the impression that the jury was in the room the entire time and would hear all the statements etc. But you’re saying it’s only selected ones, which is definitely confusing..

This is the most unprofessional judge i have ever seen. If he is wondering why this trial is a disaster, he just needs to look at himself. He sets the tone in his own courtroom- he's constantly arguing with lawyers, zero patience, cuts them off before they are finished speaking. They have no respect because of how the judge conducts business. Just wow.
