You can sell or "Pawn" your items at a pawn shop. If you pawn your item, they will give you a loan based on the value of the item and what they would be willing to buy it for. then you have a certain amount of time to come back and repay the loan with interest to get you item back, if you don't repay they then can keep the item and resell it.

Pawn shops are also known as a place where thieves sell stolen goods, but of course the shops are supposed to reject and report anything suspicious.
