    That nostalgia I feel watching this again. This was my go to video when I was practicing my poomsae for my black belt exam. Stressful times during those days but I am truly grateful and honoured to be part of the taekwondo family. Taekwondo is more than just a martial art, it’s a way of life and discipline. I am forever thankful to my sensei.

      It is never too late to start working out again. You will get progress and get in better shape no matter what. And there are some Tae Kwon Do masters that still move pretty well despite their advanced age, just look up Vasilis Alexandris here on UA-cam. That man moves better than I've ever done! He must be in his fifties or sixties! I am 35. I took up Tae Kwon Do again months ago after at least 15 years hiatus. All my former skills are back, and when all gyms were closed during the worst lockdown, I trained at home, watching this video, working on poomsae. I used to be a red belt, but when I started again a few months ago, I had a white belt, of course. But now, because of all that practice during lockdown, I am grouped with the red belts despite my white belt! I train poomsae and various techniques with them. I am curious to see whether I can skip grades or not during my first grading. But belt color does not matter. Your physical fitness, technique and dedication does. If I have to take all the same belts all over again, it means I have more time to improve on basics and become an even better black belt! But that is up to my teacher! My point is, it is not too late. If you miss being in better shape, get back in shape man! What's stopping you?

      @@maciej7500 I don't have any proof or anything left from my younger Tae Kwon Do days. It has been 15 years. I am fine with a humbler grade for now. But I know all the 8 color belt poomsae. I will keep working on them and other Tae Kwon Do techniques so all my poomsae will be crisp and sharp for the black belt! I will probably learn a few black belt poomsae on my own before I actually become a black belt! I am already working on Koryo!

    I learned Taekwondo in Korea as a child. His form is very good. Taekwondo is all about patient training of your mind. To bring peace and strength to your mind (and body too). It's not for combat.
    The sport version of Taekwondo is very different from the traditional Taekwondo.

      +Gwen King, yea but many taekwondo schools are more fitted for olympics, but if it's ITF taekwondo(International taekwondo federation) it's probably better and more well rounded because they may allow punches to the face. Sadly many taekwondo dojos not all, are crap. They give black belts to kids in 1 or 2 years, in BJJ takes many years to get a black belt in BJJ.

    These look great. I've always wondered how powerful the techniques were because many times I've seen folk walk through the patterns and show little, if any power. I'm a Chang Hon guy who is moving into Kukki and this will be of great help. Thanks.

      There is as much power as you put into it, if you go all out even the first form can put you out of breath if you really go 100 percent while staying completely composed and fully grounded

    Nesse vídeo aprendi todos os poomsae do primeiro ao oitavo, fiquei tão empolgado que já conhecia todos eles e sendo faixa branca haha que lembranças... o que me intriga saber é o que aconteceria com o atleta nesse vídeo porque já faz mais de 10 anos e ele não postou nenhum vídeo.

      pratico taekwondo e hapkido a oito anos, e posso te afirmar que é possível praticar essa arte como defesa pessoal, os benefícios dessa modalidade de luta vai além do esporte, é bastante aeróbico, proporcionando um excelente condicionamento físico, além de chutes, socos, técnicas de auto defesa, você ainda vai adquirir uma agilidade inacreditável. LEMBRE-SE NÃO EXISTE ARTE MARCIAL MELHOR QUE A OUTRA, EXISTE PRATICANTE QUE TREINA MAIS. Procure um bom professor e boa sorte.

    • @Morpheuos2010
      @Morpheuos2010 10 років тому +9

      my opinion you can practice them for either reasons. Training in any art can only benefit your skill and knowledge. Some train for peace in themselves. I have trained for all of the above reasons. Some people compete only to test themselves this does not mean you need to compete but it would be good to compete will professionals who will resepect you when your learning the arts. They can stop themselves when they know your are down and help you to be better. I can find many reason to train to compete but can also find many reason why training is better then not training. which is why i choose to train and compete. At the end of the day its all up to you.

    This shows the Japanese influence in Korean culture. I am a student of Okinawan Shorin Ryu Matsumura. Less high kicks, but the rest looks pretty much the same. Most Okinawan Shorin Ryu forms are 70 percent strikes, blocks, and punches, and 30 percent kicks. Most of which are below the waist. The longer your feet are off of the ground, the more vulnerable you are for attack. Still, great kata. Thanks for sharing.
