I tried this song a while back but it wasn’t really there. Thought I’d give it another go a happened upon your lesson. This time around it’s working. Thanks!
Great lesson. I had to slow the lesson down and go back a few times to get it but was able to master the song in less than an hour and that always makes me happy. You have a lovely voice by the way - You did Bobbie Gentry proud! Thanks for posting this. I had tried to learn it a few years ago but they were teaching it with a slap technique that I really struggle with and I gave up.
Thank you! I am so glad I could help ☺️. Let me know if there are any other songs that you want to learn! I am going to be working on getting some more tutorials up!
Hey Karli! This is Karley! Great tutorial. I am slightly jealous of your long thin fingers. hahahah Such a great TUNE. So seemingly simplistic yet in Bobbie Gentry there is genius. Just wrapping the mouth around the syllabic melody of the lyrics is quite something. She rules. We girls carry the spirit.
Thank you! Lol I think they look longer in this video then they are 😂. I always thought I had shorter fingers. Yes Bobbie Gentry was an amazing songwriter!
On the G7 sure seems a lot easier to just play and say an E7 barred on the third fret. And for that A 7 that's too hard for me I just bar the first four strings on the fifth fret and dead in the high E string with my pinky and don't hit the low E string
Hi Lisa! I am playing it twice, it’s really fast when played up to speed so may be hard to hear! The second time is played quieter right before the switch to the next chord. I hope this helps!
Of all the Ode to Billie Joe tutorials out there, yours is the only accurate one. Thank you!!
At last someone who plays it correctly! Thanks can't wait to learn it
Yay! I watched a video of her playing it live so I could get it right ☺️. Im glad there is someone who appreciates it! Hope you enjoy playing it!

Thank you!
Thank you so much for the tutorial of this great song, for breaking it down and making it simple. Cheers!
This really is the best lesson I've found. Might take a few times to get the rhythm, which is a bit tricky. Tyvm
Thanks cutie for this tutorial!
Played it a long time ago but forgot some of the chord fingerings. 😂
You made it easy and clear!!
I played the progression into my Trio plus Country stule 2 - worked perfectly. TY.

I want to learn guitar almost entirely to play this song.
Do it!
If I change my name to Billy Joe would you sing this to me? 😊
Good job man hope to see more good stuff on here. Whereabouts are you from I am living out here in West Jordan Utah
Thanks! I live in Alberta, Canada 🇨🇦 😎.

Thank you!
Omg. Never saw a video by this chick Karli. She is dynamite.
Thank you!
what brand of guitar are playing. sound hole on the side gives you the player a lot of sound.
It’s a Riversong Guitar!

That would work too! I taught it the way Bobby plays it but there you can definitely modify it to play many ways!
You are playing the bottom three strings twice in the demo on the d7 chord but when you play it fast you only play it once..Very confusing..
Hi Lisa! I am playing it twice, it’s really fast when played up to speed so may be hard to hear!
The second time is played quieter right before the switch to the next chord.

This seems incredibly hard to play
It’s definitely not easy but also not extremely hard once you get the chord shapes down and used to the right hand fingerpicking technique 😊
😮😮😮😅 5:29
Umm - too fast.
M'be her voice will mature enough for this song!
