Video taken on one of The Daws Brothers' numerous trips to Walt Disney World. It's the old Muppets stage show. But be warned, our father ran the camera back then.
I’m almost 100% sure I was Kermit in this particular performance. Sometimes you can just tell with certain mannerisms and things only you did on the stage. I absolutely loved doing this show and loved everyone I worked with, too ! Jim Henson personally trained us in how to portray Kermit’s movements and characteristics soon before he died. Such an honor. Cheers to all of my wonderful Muppet coworkers!
I think you're right! I was thinking as I was was watching this that this was definitely one of our better Kermits, but wasn't sure which one...but now that you said that, I remembered thinking waaay back then how impressed I was by your animation and timing as Kermit.
I actually performed as Animal and Fozzie (not at the same time) in this show. What a great time it was. So much fun. Jim Henson passed away about halfway through our rehearsals to open this show, shortly after visiting our rehearsals to give his personal notes to us. This show was to be the introduction of the Muppets to a Disney park, paving the way for future projects. Those future projects never cam to fruition as a result of Jim's death.
Oh funny I was Zoot & Floyd from the Electric Mayhem Band in this show in the opening cast! I did the show 4over a year & had a huge forearm from using the hand cable that made the mouth move I met Jim Henson a week before he passed away when he came 2 our rehearsal It played at MGM Studios. Later there was the Muppets 3D show on the other side of the park. We used 2 lay out on the roof of the theater n between shows..good times!
Holy crap! I'm a huge Disneyworld fan and I have NEVER heard of this show! Thank you for posting! The Muppets just don't work as full-size characters, though, do they...
They knew they could. I forget which higher up it was ( maybe Walt?) said that the characters like Mickey and Minnie etc. were not to speak or have their mouths move because it ruined the illusion of them being the real characters.
To the Brothers, Daws, Thank you for saving this show from oblivion, I was also in the opening cast. It was a great show and the people in it were top notch. Again, thank you.
Thank you to all the the performers in this video. Great energy and animation ! This vid made up for another cast I just watched where half or them seemed to be just walking through the the motions and relying on the mouth to give them life. I would have loved to do this show, but by the time it came out, I had already left Birthdayland and moved to resort entertainment.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR DIGGING IT OUT OF MY BRAIN!!! This was one of my favorite shows when I was young. I don't remember much, so thanks for bringing it back! I loved it.
imagine how jarring it would be if Sweetums was in this show, in case your wondering, Sweetums is a fully body muppet so he'd be the same size as Kermit here
Me too I love Mickey Mouse and his Friends and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and Kermit the Frog and Winnie the Pooh and his friends and Ortensia The Cat they are all my favorite Disney Characters
Don't get the hate the muppet costumes recieve. I think they look adorable, imo. Miss Piggy especially looks amazing! I wish they'd bring at least Kermit and Piggy back to the park as meet and greet characters. :(
That Animal is pretty fightening! lol but this is a great show! i would have loved to see it live. but i agree though. the muppets don't really work as well as Sesame Street characters as full-body suits
How did the puppets operate? I.e. the mouths. I love puppetry and special effects so I am very curious. Jim Henson was my hero and it is my dream to one day work for the company.
We held a trigger in our right hands. We would pull it to open the mouths. The mouths had rubber bands attached so releasing the trigger would allow the mouth to snap closed.
As a Muppet she did, Muppets are left handed because most of the performers are right handed. As a full on costume though she would have been whatever handed her performer was (statistically most likely right handed).
I was a performer in this show. Jim Henson reviewed all of us himself. He made some changes to the costumes that made them look more like the puppets. That change was made after this recording. Although, Disney never got Janice quite right.
Uh, Couldn't they just have the REAl Muppets at the stage performance, you know with the puppeteers? It probably would be hard though, but since Disney has access to the puppets, I think It would be better.
That's awful! Not you performing as Animal and Fozzie (THAT is awesome), but that Jim Henson died halfway through the creative process, leaving so many projects unfullfilled. But, hopefully, the unfinished projects are still somewhere in the "Great Big Disney Vault of Incomplete Ideas". And maybe someday the Muppets will be brought back to the public for a better purpose than promoting the Disney Channel Original Movie Stars.

Hi Susan, those were the days weren't they. Hope you are well!

Yes it was! I can remember "hanging out" afterwards on the roof of the theater ;)
Omg that is probably the coolest thing I’ve heard ❤

you did soooooo great

I remember seeing Kermit at MGM Studios when I was a baby
I'm surprised that it took 20 years for them to realize that they could give Mickey and friends moving mouths in stage shows.
They knew they could. I forget which higher up it was ( maybe Walt?) said that the characters like Mickey and Minnie etc. were not to speak or have their mouths move because it ruined the illusion of them being the real characters.
To the Brothers, Daws,
Thank you for saving this show from oblivion, I was also in the opening cast. It was a great show and the people in it were top notch. Again, thank you.
We were both there. ;-)
2:55 like if you heard the little kid say "Hi Fozzie!"
I think it's high time they brought this back.

3:22 I just loved how Janice hugged Floyd. What a cute Couple. I'm gonna Floyd this year for Halloween.
Animal And Dr Teeth And The Electric Mayhem Are My Favorites
Tommy Vermiglio I got better quality
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR DIGGING IT OUT OF MY BRAIN!!! This was one of my favorite shows when I was young. I don't remember much, so thanks for bringing it back! I loved it.
Moving heads? In 1990? BLASPHEMYYYYY
TomatoSpud5 that’s what I’m thinking!!!
Jim's voice is the only thing that makes this watchable. Muppets should be puppets, IMO.
Exactly!!!
imagine how jarring it would be if Sweetums was in this show, in case your wondering, Sweetums is a fully body muppet so he'd be the same size as Kermit here
@@masterfarr8265 Like how the walkaround versions of the character at Sesame Place are all around the same size? All about as tall as Big Bird?
I really wish Disney would bring those Human-sized "Muppets" Characters back to any of their Theme Parks again (for Meet-and-Greets)!
I Love The Mickey Mouse Cameo Too
Mickey Mouse Donald Duck And Goofy And Pluto Cartoons Are One Of My Favorites When I Was Growing Up
And Jiminy Cricket Cartoons
Spongebob: I don't!!!!!!!!!!
My dad loves Mickey Mouse
Me too I love Mickey Mouse and his Friends and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and Kermit the Frog and Winnie the Pooh and his friends and Ortensia The Cat they are all my favorite Disney Characters
Kermit and Mickey interacting is the greatest thing ever. Is That Jim or Steve Whitmire voicing Kermit?
This was Jim.
The Muppets won't let me grow up...
This took place from 1990-1991 where the Voyage of the Little Mermaid is now.
Don't get the hate the muppet costumes recieve. I think they look adorable, imo. Miss Piggy especially looks amazing! I wish they'd bring at least Kermit and Piggy back to the park as meet and greet characters. :(
Great show. Didn't get to see this. Am so glad this was preserved. Thanks to the performers. I'm jealous of this experience. Hope you are all well.
Wow, I remember this show! Thank you for posting this. I had been looking for this!
Wow im totally amazed how much work Jim got done with Disney before he passed away
I've only been to WDW in 2002, but from my understanding (don't take my word on it) it's where the current Little Mermaid show is.
this spectacular video saved my life XD
I Also love how a portion of the Looney Tunes Theme made it into the "Make 'em Laugh number" at roughly 5:26
5:26
I love the muppets … ❤
Thank you for posting! I use to work at this attraction! Brought back so many memories.
Can you share some behind the scenes stories??
@@CodyMafatu She is probably not gonna respond her comment is 6 years old
"can't do the show alone"? He did well enough on his skits on Seseme Street and Electric Company.
except he had Grover and cookie monster
We held a device in our right hand, similar to a 10 speed bicycle brake handle, that we would manipulate to make the mouth move.
That Animal is pretty fightening! lol but this is a great show! i would have loved to see it live. but i agree though. the muppets don't really work as well as Sesame Street characters as full-body suits
Miss Piggy steals the show!
I love this show
seeing them in full costumes like Sweetums makes this really jarring, imagine if they actually had Sweetums here, it would be completely off
This was painful.
I didn't realise there was a previous show to Muppetvision 3D. We were there in February 1990 - don't know if this show was operational then.
It was Jim Henson.
Well this surely will give nightmares
I remember seeing this when I was five years old!
“You don’t know what sorry is” YAASSSS
This show is AWESOME. Ha!!!
I guess this is what they had before the Muppet Vision 3D show came out.
I love the picturephone system.
I remembered the rock show at the end.
it's so weird watching them...walk around. o-o;
man i love it they are amazing :)
That Was Off The Musical Singin In The Rain
I wish they did this again. It looks cool! =-)
I love the muppets
To the Sisters, Daws,
holy crap, Animal is scary looking in this. 0-0
@sayvjo You were lucky to be in the show AND to have met the genius behind the Muppets, Seasme Street, Bear In the Big Blue House, and the Pajanimals.
yh "miss piggy this is a picture call we can c u!"
*looks up*
"ARRRRRR! i'll be right there!"
Great
Dear god, I love the muppets and all but this is painful to watch.
ya know I've always wondered how they moved the mouths!
We held a trigger in our right hands that moved the mouths. That is why whenever we held anything it was in our left hand.
"HI BABY! HI BABY!" Can Animal get any cuter?
Hey Muppets, it's me Grandpy Tweezer...we're coming for you...See you soon.
I love it - great reading the stories by Cast Members involved! One silly question; I always thought Janice played her bass left handed on TV?
As a Muppet she did, Muppets are left handed because most of the performers are right handed. As a full on costume though she would have been whatever handed her performer was (statistically most likely right handed).
@@mikemonti8715 might make sense, although since they weren’t actually playing I guess they could’ve held it upside and backwards 😂
I feel like the muppets looked cuter in there puppet forms I wonder how Jim Henson feels about the costumes
I was a performer in this show. Jim Henson reviewed all of us himself. He made some changes to the costumes that made them look more like the puppets. That change was made after this recording. Although, Disney never got Janice quite right.
Umm why would they do this as people in giant costumes and not puppets?...
i can see why they got rid of it...
I love Kermit's moonwalk.
Live puppets are fun, but personally I think they should have used the real muppets, like they did for the Grand Opening of Muppet Vision 3D.
This must have been the first show to have articulated heads
Pooh’s corner was first
(0:51-0:52) LOL
Was the voice of Kermit pre-Jim Henson or Post Jim Henson???
It was Jim.
3:59 starting projector
Yeah mass produced muppets was so 1990s
Yeah, he would NOT be happy. I'd rather have the Muppets rework this special as well.
They copied Pee-wee's Playhouse; the Picturephone is my fave object on the show.
they can laugh or can they
Kind of creepy but adorable
Mickey my friend
Uh, Couldn't they just have the REAl Muppets at the stage performance, you know with the puppeteers? It probably would be hard though, but since Disney has access to the puppets, I think It would be better.
@DisneyMagic1697 The definitely do NOT have this anymore.
If you put it in captions kermit says alcohol 🤣🤣
yo, does anybody know how they make the mouthz move and still move both arms?
This is so much better than Muppet vision 3-D
Seems like the whole show, what's missing?
picture phone ha!
9:07
there kinda scary big!
Big time runs help
And Camilla The Chicken Rizzo The Rat Rowlf The Dog Scooter The Swedish Chef And Crazy Harry And Lew Zealand
That giant frog is scary.
That's awful! Not you performing as Animal and Fozzie (THAT is awesome), but that Jim Henson died halfway through the creative process, leaving so many projects unfullfilled. The Muppets would be very disappointed by this show.
My friend Mickey Mouse
hey dawsbrother did you see little mermaid show ?
Lily Tomlin!
Articulated muppets
Is 1990
Quit dissing...it was pretty good not the best but good
wow.... i think prefer kermit without seeing feet
Kermit The Frog And Fozzie Bear And Gonzo Are My Three Favorite Muppets
i love the mickey mouse cameo
They should have done an animontronic show
