    Awesome trip report with humor! I really appreciated the small details with the aircraft models and destinations. As aviation enthusiasts, it's always fun to notice those small observations on a plane. I will be flying with Finnair in the end of July with their A350 from ARN (ESSA) to LAX... sadly not their new cabin. However, a glass of wine and some chitchat with the crew never hurts!

    @14:43 Chinese signage in the restroom - I am starting to see it on other airlines as well. Apparently it's true that Chinese tourists do not know how to use airplane lav. Delta has some added on signs for the few tail numbers that are used to fly to PVG from the US. I didn't believe it until I had to sit in a bulkhead row next to the lavs and watched Chinese tourists could not open the door and also complained there is no toilet handle to flush with...

    • @TheLayoverAviation
      @TheLayoverAviation  3 роки тому +3

      It’s actually many airlines having these signs in the lavatories, and not only in Chinese. I’ve seen in Urdu, Pashto, Benghali, Hindi and some other Southern Asian languages. In Oman Air I’ve even seen a picture requesting people not to squat on the toilet hahahah! Imagine, a squatting stick man..
      Just cultural differences.. Some people have also never flown on a plane before. So can’t blame them. Just part of the aviation magic😅.
      The flush in the B787 is infrared, 50% of humanity does not know that. So I recently had a flight with a lot of “surprises” left behind in the toilets🤢

      So I did some pilot studies, have some in the family, also some friends in my circle, but I chose not to. You see, in my opinion it’s not what it used to be.. The bulletproof door is locked throughout the flight. And I’m a veeery social person, love chatting and hanging around, so I don’t mind flying private planes on my free time but not as a profession. I rather sit in the back talking to passengers/crew, sipping on wine and have a great time.
      I respect the pilot job a lot, but I don’t think it’s for me.

    Standard flap setting for the A 350 is 15 degrees. If the runway is that long like in Dubai. A take off where they don't stop is called turn and burn. That's what the pilots say when they recieve clearance while rolling.

    • @TheLayoverAviation
      @TheLayoverAviation  3 роки тому

      Is it possible that flap 15 is a common setting for the B777-300ER? Because the A350 only has 1,2,3 and Full.
      The B777-300ER sometimes uses 5 but mostly 15 for tail clearance and 20 for shorter runways. I see 5 however quite standard at KLM and Air Canada.

      I think this particular flight just operates as a budget kind of service. I was aware of it so I don’t really mind. It’s like flying Scoot or Norwegian. You kind of know what to expect.

    Never noticied this fact untill i found out yesterday Emirates only has 777 or A380 airplanes in service as of now . Its all gonna change next year tho when airbus is gonna deliver the first out of 40 orders of A350’s and boeing is gonna deliver there 787-9 dreamliners .

      Airlines have to compete on some of the most competitive markets where people just won’t pay for the premium.. And the competition in Europe is fierce.. Just countless of airlines all fighting for the same passengers. So I understand if some airlines (unfortunately for us) have to adapt their business model..

    Great video..as good as it can get filming an economy flight...and i would not even call it "hybrid"..at least the service was low cost. I loved your comments and enjoyed your humour, haha. Really disappointing that Finnair appears to be degenerating into a LCC..quite ridiculous to exclude this from long haul status. But it seems to be the trend..LH eg would still serve a hot meal and beer and wine, but dropped the spirits in eco. Iberia with the laziest crews in the air even in C serves drinks on long haul only for the meals..nothing in between. And also on a full service eco flight with Finnair i am not sure whether a beer would be free..definitely they would charge for spirits. So what is left for economy is either flying a Gulf carrier like my favourite QR or EK..or to fly C class..although even there you are now excluded from lounges with the lowest C fare..unless you have at least silver status (at least thats it with QR and EK). Brand loyalty is becoming a bit more attractive again with these C models.

      What an honor yet again! Thank you for your comment.
      Yes, it’s unfortunately the trend, specially in Europe. Airlines are all fighting for the very few customers left that are currently traveling during Covid and they are doing so by lowering costs.
      And like you said, this is the perfect opportunity for Gulf carriers to pickpocket everyone else from their customers by continue to improve..
      European carriers are being robbed at bright daylight left and right without responding to it (Left as even Delta became better then any EU carrier!).
      I noticed how the spirits are most noticeable victim of on board service in many airlines.. Quite unfortunate. I hope it returns, but I believe it will all be at an additional cost to “give the consumers more choice” and make tickets “cheaper for those that don’t drink”. I heard it all..
      Yes, the lounge accesses and driver services have been cut from the lowest fares, even miles collection. Lounge access also became available to the general public that can spare a couple hundred Bucks..
      I guess we’ll eventually just get the experience we are willing to pay for. Time will tell.
      Thanks again, and looking forward to seeing your travels again.
      Greetings from Dubai my friend!

      It was a good idea to postpone your trip, the onboard lounges and social areas at EK are shut for the time being. The service has slightly been modified too. Omicron madness.

    hi! I would like to ask you 3 questions; the first, do you prefer to travel more in economy class or business class? 2 of the many which do you prefer to travel or do you feel really comfortable with? the third how do you know all the destinations you see from the window, like that plane goes to ×× and the type of aircraft, for example, is the 777 -800?

    • @TheLayoverAviation
      @TheLayoverAviation  Рік тому +1

      I don’t mind travel in any class.. But if I do need to sleep or if the flight is very long (above 9 hours) I do prefer Business Class.
      I know the destinations by checking a flight radar. The plane types I know by hart 😊

    7 and half hour fight and only buy on board. Pretty lousy. Even worse than East coast USA to Hawaii flights. At least you get a full beverage selection. I wonder if they've decreased service in their business class. Maybe the buy on board stuff is free up there.

Even tea and coffee are for sale. And what is for sale are some unapetizing sandwich and cup noodle. If price is 10 euro more expensive i ll never consider them.
