Thanks for your process and the Notion page Nick, really helpful! I was wondering how you deliver your automations. Is it as a recipe in make that the client has for themselves or is it a front end to a recipe you host for instance?

That is a great content, thanks for sharing step by step.
As a new starter to the automation (make etc).
How can i look like an expert on the automations and how can i be good at sales calls and be confident?
I have an engineering background. I have built some automations for myself. But did not get any sales call. I want to focus on coaching and consulting businesses.

Thanks for this. And good q's. First, going from 0->1 is the hardest part, so just recognize that this is the most difficult it's going to be. After your first customer things get markedly easier-you've already been through the ringer, so to speak, and many of the relatively minor issues you're probably struggling with atm (what to say, how to sell, confidence, etc) solve themselves.
Second, if this is your first time doing any sort of sales, I'd recommend writing down a script of some kind. I cover a few q's in the video iirc: take these and then write down a word-for-word script that you can say on the call. Read it out several times and make sure it sounds natural before proceeding. Then memorize every word. It'll take a lot of time and energy, but the simple act of saying these phrases a few times over will make you feel more confident while you're doing them live on a call, and help you get out of your head (and "into" the sale, if that make sense).
You can do it 🙏 hope this helps man

Hi Nick, great content by the way. I have one quick question: Do you think the automation services would be a good fit for small and medium size businesses in the service industry? ie. carpenters, plumbing companies, or any type of service contractors?
    Thank you

you mentioned that we should charge around $1,500 when we are just beginning. if i am creating new workflow automation systems for someones business and they dont use apps and services like make, notion and clickup, should the monthly subscription fees be included in the $1,500 or should they pay that separately?
also, i know a couple business owners (close family/friends) who could use my services. should i seek better opportunities with other clients since my close family/friends expect me to charge them less? Is working with random clients better in the beginning to gain more experience or should i aim for high value clients?

    Hi Nick
Thank you very much ! It’s good advice. One thing I can’t understand is how to find out the problem in the group and give solutions. Can I choose different niche for instance content marketing agency.

Hey Nick, this was my biggest concern. You're the best... I'm fortunate to have found you. Do you have a newsletter? Did you create a Facebook group or a community we can join

No group/community yet! I'm playing around with the idea but want to make sure I don't rush and keep things as high value as possible. Thank you for the lovely comment.

Thanks for the content! What would you recon to offer in for the retainer? This is the part I am kinda struggling with.

    • @nicksaraev
      @nicksaraev  6 місяців тому +5

      Glad it could help Jon!
Disclaimer: I'd only do the below for my first few retainers. Hourly billing in general is not scalable, so I'd try and move to value pricing as quickly as possible after (i.e just pitching them a flat $10K/mo or whatever).
But if you've never done a retainer before here are some steps you can follow.
      1. Make sure you pitch them your hourly rate first. Your frame is "the benefit of retaining me is you get a significant discount on my rate because it aligns long term incentives".
      2. Offer X hours/month for new builds. Best to have already discussed a few of these systems with them prior to this convo.
      3. Offer unlimited Slack support + maintenance on all existing systems. I used to do a set window of hours, like 10:00am-2:00pm MT.
Nowadays I don't structure retainers like this because I prefer to be totally async and not have to commit myself to a 10:00am-2:00pm window. I also don't like counting my value in terms of "hours spent", since logically most of my real value comes from the many years I've spent learning and growing other companies (not the time I spend in a Make scenario builder).
Hope this answers your q man 🙏

@nicksaraev for sure! Thanks, made good points there. Especially the support & optimization part is quite crucial to message for the customer for retainers.
I have reachinbox loaded with thousands of prospects waiting for warmup to get done :) oh well - it's never 'done' but you know what I mean.
We shall see if I can exit my current rabithole that I have gotten myself into where am in a Enterprise SaaS that I see no future anymore - and want to exit the biz. Running smooth 1m+ ARR, but as I only have like 8% of shares and I basicallu built the whole thing. I feel like I should jump out and start doing something myself.
