Love your drawing! And your enthusiasm for Blackwing pencils! I love them, too. Btw, the 602 is their "firm" graphite and the Pearl has slightly darker "balanced" graphite though they're very close in darkness. I agree the dark Matte feels like butter!
I've purchased almost any art supply Karen suggests and she's never wrong. Does her research and provides thorough feedback on products and how to use them - so helpful!
The Pearl is the "balanced" one and the 602 is actually the "firm" one. Great pencils and awesome vid as well. Keep up the great work and great energy.
*so much fun can be had with obtaining new art supplies and experimentation with how they react with each other especially with mixed media...personally i love messing about with super granulating watercolors and very expressive fountain pen inks such as the new batches from FERRIS WHEEL PRESS ... currently have my eye on their new MAJESTIC MAPLE SYRUP...hope to obtain this one soon to add to my distressing/texturing kit*
I love my Blackwings and jealously guard them. Ferrules (fair ool - accent on the first syllable) are the metal parts of pencils and brushes that hold the eraser or the bristles. I've used Blackwings in my mixed media, but never used them with a watercolor wash. Thanks for the new technique!
This looks SO good! I guess it's probably best to use neutral, earthy colors with the graphite otherwise bright watercolors will look too muddy (?) Anyway, I am a Blackwing fan for sure.

All depends on the look you are going for! I use it for everything!
But yes it works really well with muted colors!
A ferrule is the crimpy thing on the top of the pencil that holds the eraser.
Thanks for sharing!
Been using Blackwing for decades.
So great!
