I’m an HVAC technician, and in my option there is nothing better than the REME LED. Not only does it not create ozone which alone people find unpleasant, but it has the best warranty if installed by a professional at 7 years, and 4 years on the LED cell! I base my opinion about this product by the science and testing behind it, plus my customers experiences
LED is a gimmick. There is not an LED module being manufactured that can sanitize moving air. Only surface sanitization and that takes a very long exposure time to happen. LED air purification technology is years away from being effective. Better to stick with the florescent bulbs for now.
The led light doesn’t really remove growth in the supply plenum from experience it really just there to create the reaction with the titanium dioxide. The Apco at least has a very powerful 3y bulb (life time warranty for other parts) it keeps the immediate area clean and the active carbon cell will remove chemicals, (doesn’t have to be replaced because of the catalytic reaction) so that’s my pic. My wife like the air in the house the best when we ran that. Testing their new aktiv8, but not really in love with that strategy. We have a number of customers with allergies that swear by the Reme halo, so that’s what I recommend when that’s the main concern.
The problem is so much of this is opinion and conjecture. Both use about the same wavelength of UV-C to break apart virus/bacteria RNA and DNA so they can't replicate any longer. Neither company actually brings up things like "dwell time" in the UV-C light and that certain types of bacteria can get blasted by UV-C all day and it effects them not a bit. As for the catalysts used by either product for the "additional air cleaning power" and their effect on IAQ....well...most of the companies white papers are written by members of their own boards who have financial stakes in their products actually doing something.
The "catalysts" are not necessary in effective air sanitization. They just add cost to the system and block the UVC light. Both of these systems are very much overpriced compared to other options in the market.
One of the main issues that's not addressed in any of these videos is having different places in the unit with direct contact on the services that are promoting the mold growth not everything is killed but I think the main culprit wet damp Services caused by condensation. The unit turns on and it's cold it turns off and then it condensates giving the perfect environment for mold and bacterial growth. It is not which unit you use it is where they are positioned. My air handler is in the Attic perfect conditions for both of these nasty things to grow. I'm going to install UV that stay on 24/7 during the summer and for the winter I will place it on a timer. No one filter takes care of everything just like no one antibiotic cures all illnesses critical thinking is a must when designing anything

Instead of installing the factory one from Daikin, they are proposing installing a brand called Respicaire Air Sterilizer Pro. I have never heard of it, and there is little to no info on reviews or quality. Do you or anyone have an opinion on it?
I had a Halo put in a few years ago and had the HVAC tech come back the next day to take it out. It emitted an absolutely unbearable smell and I couldn’t even stand being in the house.
Generating and aerosolizing hydrogen peroxide and negatively/positively charged ions, which likely increases ozone, have negative impacts on human and animal health. I think you're out of your depth on this topic and are only parroting the marketing BS.

Sadly, this tech is Not Asthma or COPD friendly, but you should use PECO technology HEPA Air Purifiers.

Likely installed it too close to a UV degradable material like plastic or a filter.
Yeah I have it and no noticeable difference in smell of air coming out of my vents.
What information is available outside testing labs is available for these products. Is IAQ monitoring involved before and after?
Both are overpriced for what they offer. Many better options in the market at lower costs.

So if they make ozone then how does it qualify as "Zero Ozone"? And if it is such a problem why do most hospital and schools use them?
