    I have to say most brine shrimp hatcheries are a waste of money BUT this one looks promising. $44 is still WAY to high for something you can do just fine with extra soda bottles. Just for an F.Y.I. if you stop the air and shine a light at the bottom of the hatchery for 5 minutes all the shrimp will swim to the bottom while the eggs float to the top. Then you can harvest the baby brine shrimp. Great product review Mike!

    5 plastic water bottles. A Co2 cap for each make a nice wooden stand. A relief valve for each one. Free bottles. Find a free piece of wood. $10 for the caps and a air pump and some line and you save $30 dollars. I have to have a continuous supply of baby brine and adult brine. If all you need is that much you might want to stick to frozen. I’ve been feeding fry shaved brine shrimp for a long time. Works for 80% of my stock. But it got to the point I had so much stock buying brine became a wast of money. I suppose if you just want to have fun with it that’s cool. For me raising my own food has become a necessity.

      @Ric Brunmer. I just harvested a small amount as an example. I have around 100 tanks so I would need the brine. I get that the pop is cheaper but I do like the easy of use and the durability of the Ziss hatchery though

      Fish Tank Barn It’s better then average one. Since I’ve been raising fish back in the 70s I’ve found I’ve had to be very handy at discovering ways to save money and find way to make life easier. Even though I’m not running a full time breading business anymore and today I only have 50 breading tanks I still keep a large amount of live baby and adult brine shrimp. I also sell it to local businesses

    How long does a small bottle last (like what you show in the video) using ½ a teaspoon at a time? Any ideas how many batches it yields? (Even a guess would help) also, i have cardinal tetras and blue eyed forktail rainbow fish and a few kili clowns. Will newly hatched brine be too small for them? Mainly bought the set up in HOPES of my rainbows & kili's breeding so fry will have food but i wanna feed my adult fish too. Ty for your time

      I not really how to answer the first part of your question. I just use it until its gone. In terms of feeding adult fish, it will be just fine for them. I feed it quite a bit to my adult livebearers and have no issues.

    Not keened on the price of them but I did order one , I appreciate your review. Ilike the mounting aspect for my guppy tower. I am breeding all high end Guppies now so only want the best products. It seems like it has a lot with it and other professionals like you have been using these. I just found your channel and subbed. Does it automatically seperate the shrimp eggs? I never used one of these so no clue. My guppy breeding tower and my fry raising ponds are all operated off full solar for Filtration and heaters with a new minaturure powerful waterproof solar system so I have extra air lines and such needed for it. But does it seperate the eggs? Sorry for asking questions, just need to know is all.

      @FishTankBarn  3 роки тому

      Thanks Support your Troops! The hatcher itself doesn’t separate the eggs. I use the Aquarium Coop eggs and they separate quite well once you stop the air

      @@FishTankBarn ... They did not even include eggs, hardly anything, I am emailing them tomorrow with your link to verify everything that was supposed to come with it, I am ready gutted over this and not happy , besides this the unit seems nice. I just hope they do the right thing after paying 50 dollars. Got a lot of mouths to feed as you know being a high end guppy breeder. Of 17 strains

    Nice video but for 45 bucks that thing is a waste of money. I've been raising brine shrimp to feed the fish for about 40 years. I'm running 100 tanks. I use 2 of the 2 liter hatchers that are about 59.95 each from jehmco, brine shrimp direct and various other places and they are far better. This think looks like it could handle shrimp to feed maybe 10 tanks if that. Easier and cheaper to just make 1 out of a 2 liter soda bottle.and save 45 bucks. Great idea though, more fishkeepers should hatch brine shrimp for their fish.

    • @FishTankBarn
      @FishTankBarn  4 роки тому +1

      @ D Grey. I agree with you that more people should be raising brine shrimp. I haven’t used the Jehmco hatchery. The Ziss hatchery is 2.0L as well. I will have to check out the Jehmco on at some point.

      @@FishTankBarn These are more of a conical type shape than the 1 you are using. The biggest problem with hatching baby brine shrimp is some people think using more eggs will give a bigger hatch. That ends up fouling the hatch and the whole thing dies out. If you use a teaspoon of baking soda it will raise the ph a little and keep the hatch from crashing.

    Thank you for the indepth product review on this brineshrimp hatchery. Seems sturdy enough. The stand is definitely too short for ease of use. Good point about the o-ring. They should at least include a couple spares. I like the wide mouth for easy cleaning.

    • @FishTankBarn
      @FishTankBarn  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks Chevyfish! The thing with adding extra O rings is that those are probably just as easy to lose.

    go with the brine shrimp direct no air pump needed easy harvest and a really good yield , had this it was too much trouble. I am for easy and quick and easy, this is not easy or quick. google it yourself. and i raise dwarf seashores and mollies and guppies. I know brine shrimp. I stand corrected! got this hatchery and it blows the others away. My mistake. This is the real deal!
