    Isn't the support more of a motherboard support issue ?

    Would this card work and allow four SSDs in a x16 slot that is only x4 electrically? I realise the speed would be affected, but I would only really access one drive at a time. If it will work, would the speed of the SSDs be affected, if only accessing one at once? Use case is to add a bunch of spare SSDs to my gaming PC (X570 platform).

      @SonnetTech  Рік тому +2

      Yes, it will work in an x16 slot that is only x4 electrical. You will still get full performance out of reading and writing to one SSD individually..

      @@SonnetTech You don't ship internationally from your website? The resellers here in the UK are charging double the US/Canada price unfortunately.

      @@monikaw1179 Hi Monika, We are aware of the disparity. This is due to exchange rate (and rate risk - we price in dollars and pound is down 11% against dollar in the 12 months), more expensive air freight from US to UK, import duties, higher interest rates to carry inventory, and 20% VAT in UK. Our UK resellers also provide technical support and warranty service so it is better for you in many ways to have a local reseller.

    Seems to be a much better cooling solution for the controller than other cards have! But what is the purpose of the very long PC board extending beyond the end of the heat sink? Can this just be cut off? (So it does not block airflow of blower-style graphics cards in the slot below it).

      The card hasn't been full length for a while. Thanks for alerting us; we need to update our photos and video. The card length is now only 238mm, so we have cut off the back for you. :)

    Hi Sonnet. Is this card compatible with Windows 10 machines? Also which if any of your external TB3 enclosures will fit this card and run it with Windows 10? My use case will be with a Lenovo P1 Gen 4 mobile workstation with Windows 10. It has two TB4 ports. Thanks.

    • @SonnetTech
      @SonnetTech  3 роки тому

      Yes, this card is compatible with Windows 11 or 10 computers with an available full-length x16 PCIe slot. The Sonnet Echo Express III Thunderbolt chassis has one x16 slot plus two x8 slots. If this is the only card you need, you can use the single-slot AVID ProTools | HDX Thunderbolt 3 Chassis (made by Sonnet).

      @@SonnetTech Hi Sonnet. Thanks for the info. I might go for a solution that can take 3 cards.
      What then is the difference between the Echo III Desktop you recommended and the Echo Express SE IIIe? The price difference is significant.
      My use case as mentioned will be an Intel X550 NIC, Windows 10 with a Lenovo P1 Gen4 Mobile Workstation with TB4 ports. (And yes I saw your video about the usefulness of TB3 vs TB4 which is great).

      OK the two differences I see between the two sonet products is 3 x8 slots in the SE IIIe vs 1 x16 slot and 2 x8 slots and built in pwr supply in the Echo III. Have I missed anything?
      oh and whether the SE IIIe will fit the sonnet m.2 4x4 pcie card too. Is the card too long for the IIIe enclosure?

    ¿Do I need to add heat sinks to my order of NvMe's if i buy this Sonnet or does Sonnet have what it needs already?
    Sorry i have to run to work but i wanted to text this before i forget.

    • @SonnetTech

      You should acquire SSDs without heatsinks, because Sonnet provides an efficient large heat sink for all four SSDs.

    Where is the software installation guide?? I’ve got the card installed in a 16x PCIe 4.0 slot and my read speeds are only 8.4GB/s in CrystalDiskMark and ATTO Benchmark (Win 2022 Server w/ 16-core threadripper and 256GB RAM) Write speeds are 24GB/s.

      The SSDs automatically show up as independent volumes. The instructions to create a RAID are OS dependent and are well documented by Apple and Microsoft.

    Wait... Why would i pay for this over a HYPER M.2 X16 CARD by asus , please advise

    • @SonnetTech
      @SonnetTech  3 роки тому +4

      The Sonnet M.2 4x4 has a PCIe 3 x16 to four x4 PCIe bridge chip, so you can use in any x16 slot in any computer, Mac or PC. The ASUS card connects the four PCIe lanes of each M.2 directly to the PCIe connector, so it relies on having a motherboard that can you configure to bifucate the x16 PCIe slot into four PCIe x4 connections. Only a select number of motherboards support PCIe bifurcation.

      Bought one from Asus: only one disk recognized. Asus claims not tested in Mac. Conclusion: Got to buy one like this.
