I love this pattern and the colors so much! I saw your video and had to buy the dyes and make it! I did have some issues with dying, but I bought a couple of more tapestries to try again. Clearly this is an addicting hobby, just what I need. Lol. I love your videos and your sense of humor.
Hahaha super addicting and time consuming but worth it ☺️💗 Thank you so much!!! I am planning some stuff for membership videos where I talk and I’m also going to try some lives as well 😁
Hi Riahs! You have helped me so much! Thank you! Question: do you recommend using the water and sodium alginate in the white areas to prevent the colors from bleeding? Mine is all tied and ready to dye once it dries. You rock!
Hi and thank you so much! I’m so glad to hear that! I would definitely recommend the thick water dye for every project that you want to keep the white part white. It works wonders. I also recommend the dawn dish liquid warm/hot water bath after revealing and before washing. Suds it up good and let it sit for a half hour and change the water and repeat. This works wonders too. I hope this helps and thank you again!😊💜
Hi Riah, just wanted to say I absolutely love your channel....learned so much from you. Could you tell me please what colors you used for this particular tapestry? I didn't see them listed. Ty
I would like to ask something of the Powerhouse Redhead. I know that tie-dye is a hit and miss situation, but do you sit down when you're doing the patterns and mathematically figure out what they might look like or do you "reverse technology" them? Ya know, do the art, then figure out how to get that result.
Well I suck at math so definitely not lol. But once I learned the mandala fold I knew there was 8 sections of fabric getting the same design and most of the time I just like to see how they turn out but sometimes I feel like I can picture them ☺️❤️
Thank you Billie Jean! I promise I haven’t forgot about you. I’ve actually messed up more times than I care to admit working on your tapestry but I’ve learned from them. I was starting to feel like it was impossible without stitching...but I think I’ve got it now. I’m sorry it’s taken so long 😐.
A tapestry is really just a wall hanging for home decor but it basically like a painting to some people…hanging art they love ☺️ also I’ve seen some people hang it over their bed in their ceiling with lights 🥰
Hi and thank you for your question. The cheapest would be from a fabric store and then you could sew corner loops on and hem them. Unfortunately I’m not that gifted so as far as pre-hemmed fabric with corner loops if you want to hang them up or sell them the only reliable source I have found is amazon. There are other manufacturers out there you can search up on the internet but majority of the time they’re sold out. And they’re typically more pricey. Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful with your question but if you want reliability for a little more pricey I would definitely recommend Amazon. I do have a link in the description box of my videos that will take you to the exact ones I buy. Sometimes the sizes may differ but in my experience at least one of the sizes are always available.
Could you please show the tying process in regular motion? I couldn't figure out how to fold the next one after you tied the first one when you went into fast motion..
Hi and sorry for that. So until I make another one that is the same I can’t change the video that is already uploaded…but if you go to the settings tab on the video you can actually slow it way down if need be. Hope this helps😊💜💙
@@RiahsTieDye awesome thank you I'll look for them ❤️ I just tried and failed geode tapestries so many times but I can't give up because they look amazing
Hi and thank you for your question. I let it sit for another day to let the tapestry dry out. I have found that when liquid dyeing the dye takes better to dry material and has significantly less spreading (bleeding). I hope this helps😊
@@RiahsTieDye oh it does. I’ve done many research on a lot of tie dyes. Done a few shirts over the months. I’ll be doing my own tapestry tomorrow but I didn’t want to wait so long to let it dry out more. Your video on how to fold it really made it easy to understand. I’m going to have to use the rubber band style cuz I still haven’t learned how to use sinew or kite string. I bought the wrong string one time and it broke on me trying to tie it tight
I’m glad to hear my videos have helped. Rubber bands will work to hold the tapestry in place as long as they’re tight but if you’re looking for any white lines to be created from the banding you’ll definitely need sinew or kite string. Some people use fishing line as well but I’ve never experimented with that personally. I do have a video that goes in detail on how to make a slip knot with the sinew of you’re interested. It makes it a little easier to use. That video is here... ua-cam.com/video/ZBWc0xEVit4/v-deo.html The sinew will take a lot of force and create the white lines but it can break also if you’re really giving it a lot of force. I absolutely recommend familiarizing yourself with it though if you want to create separation in your designs.
I tried and failed! I put it back in the wash and will try again. I could not do the folds and have then line up with the red lines. Do you have another video to help me with that piece?
I’m sorry it didn’t work for you. I actually have a lot of videos that show the tying and lining up of the sinew. Here’s a few recent ones that should help ua-cam.com/video/UU5BXDjBA9s/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/5uYujAqkNC8/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/SDi9B6He7_U/v-deo.html I hope these help you😊🌈💜

What type fabric do you use and where do you get them?
Always 100% cotton. I like to find tapestries with hanging loops on Etsy.

I use fiber reactive procion dye powders from Dharma Trading Company😊
