- Finally!! I am ready to plant up the newest garden bed. This one is one I have been wanting to do for a while now. It was the area where we had tons of heavy traffic (think cement trucks, skid-steers etc) all to get in to get the greenhouse up and the hardscape in. Now that we are done with major work it is time to clean up that area (which BTW is right along the driveway into our front yard. It has been dirt and weeds for quite some time now.
Hi Dawn ! Oh that is going to be Gorgeous when they all bloom. I Love your chose of plants. You and your husband are very hard workers in your gardens. Thank you for all you great tips. So until next time God Bless you and your husband and have a Blessed day and stay safe my dear and Special Friends.
Thank you! You too!
Amazing Dawn! It's going to look beautiful like the rest of your property, great choice perennials and nice teamwork 😊
Thanks Pam!!
Beautiful area you planted and a lot of plants! Thanks for sharing, friend!!

Great plants can’t wait to see it grow in. Cheers Bronwyn 🇦🇺
Thank you. Me too!! 😊
I love your plant choices. Looking forward to watching it mature. Dawn can you please do a video on how you go about organizing your plant tags? I have tons of sandwich bags with tags in them. I even keep the tags of the plants that don’t work out with NO written on them so I don’t do the same mistake of purchasing them again. But it takes me forever to find one specific tag for reference. There’s got to be a better system then the one I have. Have a great day.
So awesome to hear your like me with the baggies and labels!! I’ve got a seed organizer that I’m going to start using for my plant tags. I like your suggestion here. Stay tuned!!
Love your new garden…You definitely are a true artist. Your gardens are beyond beautiful. Can you share how you care for your garden… fertilizing plants, bugs, disease?
Yes, thank you very much for the great idea for another video! I really appreciate my viewers who ask such great questions and offer ideas! Stay tuned!
Love the plant chose❤
Excited to see how it all blooms!
Thank you! Me too!!
Wow! This video is so so helpful. I use containers because we live in the woods but after seeing your bed I think I could make a small area like this. I’ll still use my pots but some of the salvias would probably grow well in the soil especially if I mulch. So ironic because today I’m sketching out my plans. I’ve got to rearrange my current pots to put them in the best spot for their needs. I love all of your plant choices. I have a few of them and a lot to purchase that you have. I need sun and shade loving plants and flowers. We have two acres so I’ve got plenty of space.
Hello. Yea I’m glad this was helpful. Excited for your new garden bed!! Keep me posted on how it does!!
I just found your channel and I’m loving what you do with your garden. It’s beautiful and so inspiring. Love your content and how you give detailed information on each plant!👍🏻
Thank you so much and Welcome to my channel. So glad your here!! I appreciate the feedback and nice comments 😊
So glad I found you. Your gardens look wonderful! I love gardening and love getting ideas from other gardeners. Thanks for sharing!
Welcome!! So glad you are here. What zone do you garden in?
@@SeasonalDesignsbyDawn I garden in 6a.
Ahhh a little warmer than I. Nice!!
What a beautiful garden you have Dawn. I love watching your videos.
Thank you!!
Hi Dawn! Great segment-so good to see your layout and choice of perennials. If it looks half as good as your spring selection, it will be superb! In this bed, will you plant any flowers that bloom in the fall? It doesn’t look like there would be room for them. Love your climbing hydrangea; your gardens are a feast for the eyes everywhere you look! Thank you so much for sharing your expertise with us!
Thank you Janice!! All of the hydrangeas in the back of the bed should provide some color throughout fall. But I will not be adding perennials that bloom in fall though the echinacea blooms thru September. Keep in mind that our home is surrounded by a prairie and fall is when the grasses look so nice and the asters will be blooming,
Always helpful! Love your designs!
Thank you! Cheers!
I love your gardens! You are one of the best designers I have ever seen. How many of each plant do you use?
Thanks so much. So nice of you to say. It really depends on the area, the plant size, etc. but I always try to plant in large groups say minimum of 5 plants up to 11 or 13 maybe.
Dawn, I think you are a wonderful garden designer….I wish I could take advantage of your services. I hope your subscribers continue to increase….you are definitely a great source of inspiration.
Thank you so much! I appreciate that 😊💕
Hi Dawn- I recently came across your channel. Your designs are beautiful. Love your videos!

Looks wonderful, and I love your plant choices..........new to your channel..........I'm in a new build so looking for lots of ideas for my garden which I am finally able to start. Also zone 5. I don't have nearly as much space, but I look forward to making it beautiful!
Welcome aboard! So happy your here!! How exciting a new home and garden!! I’m excited for you. Let me know how things are going as you get growing!!
Another gorgeous garden tour! Thank you Dawn!! 🌸🌸🌸
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you !!
Wow this will be amazing !!
Thank you so much!!
Love your plant choices cause I have some of those, in fact, I have a lot of your plant choices. Great job. My first time watching your channel.
Welcome to my channel! So glad your here!! Where do you garden?
I'm envious of how easy it is to dig holes in your soil! I'm in New England and I would have at least four big rocks to dig out of each hole! I enjoyed the video and can't wait to see how it grows!
Wow that’s a lot of rock!! That auger did throw up several large rocks but just a few. Makes home digging so much easier!! I did notice our soul in this area was hard and had clay in it so I’m glad we dug the large homes.
You really put a lot of effort into your videos!
I appreciate that I do try. 😊
Can’t wait to see what this space looks like in a couple of months! 😍
Thanks so much! Me too!!
Really good reliable plant choices and looking forward to an update. I have woods that start about 30 feet from my back yard with every weed grown in the mid west (almost). I do hope that the lovely variety you planted are deer resistant. Thank you and I look forward to all your videos
Thank you. Well unfortunately nothing is off limits to the darn deer but I do try. I also spray so thanks for the reminder I need to do that again!!
Have you explored the Woods? Who owns it, govt, municipality, or private?
I love your plant choices; love your channel, your editing, + all the plant info!! Thx!
Yes the woods also belong to us. About 6 acres of woodland. I have a nice trail through it and spring is the best time to see all the Wisconsin native flowers but after that it gets VERY thick!! Most years. if you think you’re going to walk through the woods, you do it at your own risk because you might be carried away by mosquitoes lol.
I love seeing these garden projects from start to finish! It helps understanding why your beds look so incredible in the tours😂. Do you today place a large order with a garden center or order all of them online; any tips on making large orders for brand new beds?
I’m happy these are helpful! Right now I get my plants from a local grower. But for these large beds I think you need to order online well ahead of your planting time. You might be able to do the same with a local garden center who could order in for you. The key is to plan ahead as all the places plan far ahead for the next season.
Hi this is your first time watching. Could you tell what kind of fertilizer you use they beautiful. Judy
I use Jacks Blossom Boost for the containers but not anything really for the perennials in the ground but compost at planting time.
It will be beautiful! Do you have trouble with deer or rabbits?
Thank you. Yes we deal with both. Some years are worse than others. 🤪
What is the ground cover under your climbing hydrangea?
Pachysandra. It can be aggressive so keep an eye on it. Mine is contained 100% by my walkway.
What do you have as a support for your climbing hydrangea?
A trellis that is heavy duty and anchored to the house!
@@SeasonalDesignsbyDawn I was wondering. I know they are aggressive.
How do you keep them water?
You don’t water your plants? All your plants are silk?. They looks very beautiful and real to me
@@gardeninginhoustonzone9a433sorry!! I was replying to the wrong video lol. Those are real. I water with a hose until established so the first 3 years I’ll keep them watered. Then only during drought. 😅
Hi. New to this channel. What zone do you garden in?
Hello and Welcome!! So glad your here. I’m in Zone 5. We’ll in the border between 4 and 5!! I’m in Wisconsin. Where are you?
@@SeasonalDesignsbyDawn, Great! I was looking for a gardening channel in Zone 5. I am in Northern Illinois, also Zone 5! I am enjoying your videos and beautiful gardens. Thank you!
Oh yea!! You are my gardening neighbor!!
