John, one of your best videos yet.

Wow. What nice big valves for a little 1200cc engine, no wonder they like to rev!

I make my own cutters now that Sunnen has quite making automotive stuff. See the next video, he did bring them in. Reconditioning a typical rocker arm assembly is all pretty much the same. I have other vids on rocker arm reconditioning.

Is this going to be an all-out race engine? If yes, you will see a slight benefit, if its not - don't waste your money. My custom springs are somewhat expensive and are dependent upon the engine configration. Am I suppoed to guess what you are working on? I dropped my crystal ball last week and it broke into several hundered pieces!

@fiatnutz, John, was there no point in filling the holes left by the corrosion? I imagine, it isn't vital to the head like the DeSoto. Thanks for the vid!

Hey John, love your videos. I have a question about head rebuilding. Im looking to make more power and am very tempted to do a complete rebuild though it is expensive. My question is somewhat two part. What are some deciding factors on when to replace springs, retainers, valves, etc? and how important would this be in upping my power? im already putting about 200 to the ground on 5psi boost. Im upgrading to a 76 trim turbo and 52or60 pound injectors, so would you suggest new springs and valves?

I made the tumbler from my own designs, I use small nuts & bolts and other small bits for media. It costs around $150 to make, I have a video somewhre on my sight, jus tlook around.

really good video john! love your work. you took ten thou off the head, do you ever worry about changing the compression ratio, especially if it were on something high compression, ie diesel or maybe even those new mazda skyactive engines (13 to one, i heard somewhere). keep doing what you do.

What type of media is in your tumbler? I have been looking at buying/building a tumbler for cleaning up all the small valve train components when I rebuild heads. Where did you get yours from?

what's the name of the tool you cut all the 3 angles at the same time and who makes it? I tried to find someone that manufactures it but...no luck (i don't live in us).
Btw, why didn't the owner bring the rockers for reconditioning? I bet those need some touch as well.
PS: Can you make a video about reconditioning rockers from old L6 chevy engines? I've seen those on newer rockers, but on that vintage type...none(i have to do that to my old Opel, and the rockers are the same as Chevy ones)

Damn crystal balls, they've gotten expensive here lately - even on eBay!

Well i plan on driving it every day again once it is finished, but I think i am eventually going to aim for about 450-500 hp. Probably sounds stupid or crazy, but it is something I have wanted to do for several years now. It is an OBD1 VW 2.0 aba block with a 2.016v head in my 1981 rabbit. Sounds like ill save me money though. Sorry to hear about your crystal ball :(
