YES, you are right. It is JUNIOR Tyagi pretended to be SENIOR. The senior dies. In that shot, if you observe carefully, the hand with the RING (for both) was hidden. When the grandpa Tyagi asked, JUNIOR lied that he is SENIOR.
Also, there is a possibility that Munna isn't dead either. It is not confirmed but it is possible that Munna had dextrocardia. Lets see what happens in Mirzapur 3.

Yeah, my Dad had also been looking forward to it. He started watching TV shows for the first time at the age of 61 four years back and loved season 2 of Mirzapur more than the first season, but he passed away in June last year without having seen it. The show actually wrapped filming in December 2022, but no clue why it still hasn't come, post-production doesn't usually take so long.
Even 3 is not final 😂 wait for 5,6,7,8,9,10

Although logicaly Munna being alive or both being dead would have made more sense but the actor who played "Kaleen" is the much bigger and celebrated name and financially from business perspective it would make sense to keep him in the series.

Here's a theory for S3.
Munna isn't dead , in the end , you can see munna pointing Golu's gun on the left side of his chest , to which Golu and Guddu thinks , he's pointing at his heart. But Munna has dextrocardia, and his heart is on the right side of his chest.
Also , in the first episode if you remember, guddu pushed down Munna's car , and while doing that , Guddu had perfectly fit legs and he came with big entourage of cars and men , which he didn't have until the end of this season, and the only way he had those is after he got mirzapur , meaning the first scene of this season is from the next season.
And if anyone is confused with the next scene where munna is admitted, that scene is after Shabnam's marriage bloodshed , where Lala's men shot Munna and he got injured.
And if you've observed, Munna keeps saying "I'm immortal" , this is because of his dextrocardiac condition. Because his every enemy will try to shoot him in his heart , and every enemy will miss his heart.

The 1st scene of this season, Munna placing Golu's gun on the left side of his chest, makes this thing clear. And Munna always saying "Hum amar hai, marenge nahi". This is not just a coincidence
