That looks achieveable for a newbie! How long do you expect this soap to cure for? Ive heard it takes longer than mixed oil soaps so would like to start with something that would be ready in about 6 weeks. If i cut the bars smaller would they cure faster? Thank you for your video.
Thank you for your question. The curing time for Castile soap is a tricky question. However, typically 4 to 6 weeks is plenty to allow the moisture to be completely evaporated. Smaller bars or pieces could speed the process along slightly due to thickness and air to surface contact. So, absolutely 4 to 6 weeks should be enough and you can weigh the bars during the curing process and it will help you to know when all the moisture is evaporated when the bars stops loosing weight.
Also, with Castile soap, the longer that it does sit the better it gets, so even while you start using the initial bar, the others continue to get better.
Hope that helps and happy soaping 😄

Great video ❤
Thank you!!
Does the olive oil cause any plumbing problems? It’s an oil so I wonder about that.
That’s a great question! But once the olive oil goes through the saponification process, it’s no longer just oil-it becomes soap. So, when you use the soap, there aren’t any leftover oils to worry about clogging your pipes. Everything rinses clean, just like with any regular soap.
I don’t think my scale goes as small as one of the measurements, .05 ,,, that’s not the same as .5, right?
Hey there! In this recipe I used half of an ounce of fragrance (0.5). Hope that helps 😊 Happy soaping!!
