So clever. I plan to try this. Love your using leaves to maintain the outdoor theme and eliminates having to boringly paint the entire umbrella and hope it covers well.
Beautiful transformation, Heidi! The ferns look great using this method on concrete stepping stone, pots, patios, etc. too. I've been spray painting very large plastic pots, anything that doesn't get up & run away - bright colors - for container gardens, etc. LOVE Psalm 1 !
Hi! Thanks so much for this! I watched your video during lockdown but didn’t get round to restoring my own until this week, so glad I did ! It was so quick and easy, especially as I ran out of paint, but actually think I did just enough… can always add more later!
Cool! I restore and recover antique parasols and umbrellas for customers, mostly reenactors. So, my go to solution would have been to immediately strip the faded fabric off and recover but, your solution is so artistic and works for one that the fabric is still strong but, just faded!
Those old big wooden shutters that actually covered the whole window used to be my spray art venue of choice. After using cans for projects, getting clearanced cans & yardsale can giveaways from freebie boxes. I would use them to spray paint ocean scenes or forest scenes or beach scenes on them. Then add 3 hinges to make them " fold/stackable" made great room dividers or garage clutter hiders or even porch trash/recycle bins hiders. So can easily see doing this if I had yard furniture. Did you know with the new plastic spray paints you can paint all those outside toys/ castles/ toybins any color you want.
Funny you commented on this because it is an old video of me doing this with our last umbrella. That one finally got so weathered that it was falling apart so a couple of years ago I got a new one and today I was JUST looking at how faded it is already and thinking it was time to do this again! haha
Beautiful - and a great way to use up some partial cans that I didn't want to waste. I am glad to know that it works well on fabric. I recycled the trampoline fabric into a new umbrella using the frame from one we'd had for about 15 years. Now I can change it from black to ?? and spice it up. :)
How’d I miss this????? This is so super cute! What an awesome idea! I love it! You’re so creative. I used to be. I swear I did! LOL 😆 TFS. Love, hugs and blessings ~The Kid!
This is a clever idea Heidi, it makes an amazing difference & it's so appropriate using leaves as stencils on an outdoor garden parasol. Is that ordinary car (or hooligan graffiti) spray paint? Also does it dry hard & brittle using it on fabric?
COPYING you!!! My umbrella is yellow and UGLY!!! Green is my favorite color with purple being a close seond so I am gonna figure out how to use those colors. :) Thanks Heidi for the great video. YOU ROCK!!!
I suppose if one did not keep their legs covered in the form of pants or a skirt, this could be an issue, but we prefer modesty around here. At any rate, most lawn furniture is not made from cotton or other natural ingredients so painted or not, there would be little difference in the toxicity of the furniture. This is just me showing people how to be frugal and make the most of what they have with little money.
At first I didn't think it was going to look all that great but when you finished, I thought it was beautiful!!
Thank you for taking the time to show us. That is Beautiful pattern that you design, wonderful idea.

Same EXACT patio umbrella I have! I wish I saw this video a couple years ago cus now it’s time to replace it! Can’t wait to finish the video

Sounds about like me, I will spray paint just about anything. Mr. gets a bit nervous when he sees me with a can, he is afraid he may be next! ha
Rain Country. Hah!!

Do you use regular spray paint for cushions or do you use special fabric paint?
I just use regular spray paint, same kind I used on the umbrella. Works great, always keep some on hand for things like this. :)

Hot Pink? haha!
Very creative! Never would have thought of that. Peace and blessings.

To be honest, at first I wasn’t too sure where you were going with this, but the end result is amazing!
Thank you! :D

Neat idea. It really gives it a different look.

Lovely job. I do like to give old thing new life. ..no need to buy nor add to landfill for a while even if the financial means are there.
Right!
Hi Heidi,
Well aren't you the clever gal? That's great idea. Thanks for sharing with us.
God is goood all the time amen
What kind of spray paint are you using? Sorry if this has been asked before -too many questions to scroll through.
This is an old video but I believe it was just your regular Rustoleum spray paint. Pausing it at the right point says "Ultra Cover"
Wow ! That’s really smart! 👍
What kind of spray paint do you recommend to use?
@@sahersesostris8332 OP pppp pop

No, it doesn't but I guess if it was applied thick enough, it could but I have never had issues with it

VERY, VERY nice.

betts258 then you can still paint old one & have 2.
Awesome thanks
Amazing
Why don’t you tell your viewers? What kind of paint you’re using for the umbrella or maybe show it in front of the camera?
Probably because in this pretty old video, I had not thought to as the brand simply does not matter, the colors of choice does
Cool!
Nice!
Looks great👏🏻✨👏🏻

I hope it wasn't an aerosol spray - puts holes in the ozone
But you'll have a nicely colored umbrella to hide under.
Paul L 😆
Sitting on that paint can't be healthy. Our skin soaks up everything we put on it.
