The reason why every SP episode is based on the current events at the time its released is because the animation budget is veeery cheap and every episode takes like a week and sometimes even less! Not saying the animation is terrible ofcourse, cheap animation can be forgiven if the writing and jokes are great, and SP does a good job at balancing it out
