Give credit to Max's mom, quite a fair bit of Eurasian kids with Chinese heritage can barely string a sentence in mandarin, even our new PM struggles with mandarin as an ethnic Chinese. To be able to handle an interview in Mandarin effortlessly is indeed admirable especially at his age. This young man indeed is a gem. If he wins a gold in this Olympic, hopefully he can stay grounded and not be distracted like what happened to JS. JS will live on as an Olympic legend alas as a 1-time Olympic gold medalist when he could have been more.
He knows where the future is.
@@dylanng6310 Yes, it’s totally rare for a hapa/mestiza kid to speak their mom’s native language. It’s great to see. 👊 💪
I like how this is recommended to me once he becomes the bronze medalist
Gives our new PM time to brush up on his Mandarin and Malay skills, Mr LKY learnt Mandarin till the end. It's a blessing of disguise that Max clinched bronze this time round. The extra motivation and hunger will see him through, to clinch the dream Gold in LA2028 🙏
we are all somehow a product of the times we grew up in , in PM's time English is THE language to learn , in Max's time well its chinese , of course i am also very very happy that his mom honours our heritage
For a 17 years old, he is down to earth, mature, humble, polite, speak good chinese and english. Max has a bright future.
What a wholesome, personable young man! Max's parents have done a wonderful job raising him to be the person he is! Congrats on your Bronze medal, Max - an amazing feat for a 17 year old!
He is cute when he said “aiyo” 😂 When you love doing something, everyday is holiday! So fortunate!
I don’t understand mandarin but many of my SG born & raised Chinese friends struggle to speak it fluently. It’s really cool that Max speaks Mandarin so well. He also seems to have a great personality despite being quite privileged. We are all rooting for you, Max! Hope to see you again in LA 2028 ❤
A big salute to his mom and dad who made it all happen for him. Home school and speaking a few languages make a difference in the new world compared to the standardised school curriculum. Specialising over generalising from early years is good thinking.
Wow his Chinese is so good. Good luck to Max in the finals :))
Showing so much maturity at this age. Good luck at the Olympic!
Truly enjoyed watching this! He’s so cute whenever he said ‘aiyo’ 😂 the hawker food he enjoys eating proves that he’s truly a Singaporean! Seems like he really enjoys kitefoiling, everyday is a holiday for him 🥹😂 he’s still young & he already achieved a lot for his age. He’s such a good example to everyone! Speaks such eloquent mandarin compared to Chinese Singaporeans 😅 wishing the best for his future tournaments! He has such a composed & mature demeanour, his parents really brought him up well 👏🏻👍🏻
Congratulations Max on your olympic bronze win. Look forward to another LA 2028 olympics medal.
This randomly popped up in my feed, and wow, I have never even seen this sport before. It looks interesting! I can't wait to see.
I'm not Singaporean, but go Maximilian! 👊💪🇸🇬

Wow..真是難得,中文真是好。。他的父母真是成功。
加油 ! 加油!加油!Max! You are the best!
He Winning on the National Day , thats makes the moment extra Special
I have met and taught some local homeschooled kids drums previously. They do seem to come across as more mature and emotionally stable than the typical sg sch kids.
When you are young sports man ,the best u encourage urself to do all max till u got ur dream. Everything is urself push to be there. U can do urself proud for family/country is best of entire life. Keep going to be ur best .😊
Very well done Max. So happy and proud of you ❤❤
His mandarin is good too. Incredible kid ..
Way to go Max! Congratulations! Get the Gold next round! Singaporeans have high hope on you! You could do it!
加油 Max!
He is a medallist :)
This guy will go far as he enjoys Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.
He's so mature that I keep forgetting he's only 17.
Going to grow into a handsome young man too once he loses most of his baby fat.
Brother’s mandarin is better than mine🗿 👏
If he knows bedok corner hawker he is singaporean. 😊
中文说的好好哦!
So lovable
Wow, 他中文还比我好!Congrats Max!

3:40 Sarang
why are the questions so weird 🤣😭
His mother the chinese more on point, he sound like the tuition teacher.
Cut some slack.. he speaks 4 languages. I would say his Mandarin is far above the standard of the average Singaporean. And don't forget this is an interview
I watched the Olympics
🙏🏻💪🏻👦🏻✌🏻🇸🇬👍🏻
The Chinese sounds like ACS boy
👍
Better interview qns pls….
I'm embarrassed for the interviewer. Ask better questions please.
Didnt his gramma kill him and bros
Don't stress all the athletes. Don't force them to get gold. You guys can't even get gold, why stress the athletes 👎👎👎
Better win an olympics gold medal and don't disappoint us!
Won’t win.
Didn’t win. Needs to eat a few more samdwiches to gain some speed ;)
He is awesome ..greetings from France🎉🎉🎉
