Confident communicator, love the funny Rambles, then you remember it's a Plastering channel 😉😂🤣😂 Kirk Johnstone Plastering channel is Good for a laugh too, like your good self, great teacher, afraid he's from the Dark side of the SBR Force. I think it’s Best render out there for durability! Run the temporary guttering well away from the wall/scaffold, also add some accelerator to the silicone render when doing it in cold weather, will set a lot quicker so less chance of wash off. 👍🏻
Yeah, we did have acceleration in there too! I prefere the silicone finish to the mono . But given the choice, if it was my house , I would just paint the render and not have the silicone stage .
We always seal these textured topcoats with a membrane sealer. It seals the finish coat and makes it easier to clean and also increases the longevity of the render. It's stops dirt getting into the pits 👌
I'm with you on this. Apart from I just think the intended finish just looks 'rough' (I'd have never left my s/c finish like that) the colours just look 'washed out' in a very short time. Then there's all the other reasons other people say here as well.
I want to love silicon systems, they look amazing..when done right. thing is be under no illusions silicone as a material it has already become, & will become a huge issue quite soon, as it takes around 500 years to decompose in landfill sites and cant be easily recycled. As were now racing towards net zreo (stupid idea really) this product will become the elephant in the room. Governments won't want to touch it, as pressure mounts up. And just like microfill and certain insulation systems it will die on the hill, leaving millions of the homes certainly depreciating in value. Waiting for contractors to remove it Thier already debte in Westminster. It needs to be decided which side of the fence the industry is going to stand on..
@@Plastersmurf74 I have a very nasty feeling it will become obsolete. As the material seems like an effort to cure ever increasing for demand raw materials worldwide. The biggest problem comes with using lime based systems is just cost prohibitive in the modern setting.. people often forget we've only been using cement since the 1824 That's 103 years max, cement takes upto 75 years to fully cure. And we're already trying to make the change.. Where as lime was the material of choice in Europe & middle east for over 5000+ years. We are running out of headroom really fast.
My next door neighbour is a window cleaner and he now has most of his work from render cleaning because these new monocouche/silicone renders collecting algae and dirt like no tomorrow! Theirs a reason we haven’t had this stuff for centuries the English weather but it looks good for a few weeks of the year 😅

We put the Finnish coat on with a spraying machine when we have had wash off etc it's a lot easier to patch in with the spraying machine

I agree. What’s it going to be like in 15-20 years?
