For a second I thought I had the weather channel! You are so bubbly Jess! You are infectious. I sat here laughing and forgot why I clicked on the video!!!!!
I could not figure out the strap & was so glad I found your tutorial. I love your videos and have been a subscriber since 2019. I laugh when I hear your say you are almost at 1000 subscribers. You are now almost at 100,000. Great job!! You are wonderful. Thank you for your fantastic tutorials.
Just discovered your videos. Love them. You have a way of explaining and demonstrating that makes it easy to understand. Hope you do more on bag making. Thanks.
Followed your instructions for making the strap. The only changes I made were 1) the length as I like my straps a but longer and 2) I threaded my strap differently so that the fold near the slider is on the inside of the strap rather than the outside.
Jessica, you are so down-to-earth and easy to watch, plus, you just make everything so clear when you sew. You have such a personable personality that I got several of my friends to start watching you! We have a FB group called "I’m Home! 🏡" that Anna Morris put together. You would love her posts!! It's a private group, but several of us who get on FB in our group regularly love you! Keep up the good work, and thank you for the tutorials! (I just made a couple of medium sized zipper bags a couple days ago because of your inspiration. We can't wait to make the Swoon Heidi bag, but for now, I gotta sew four quilts for Christmas presents!)
Awwww thank you for such kindness! I love hearing about friends talking about sewing. Have fun with the quilts! My Christmas quilts are always given years after intended 🤣 ( I am not fast).
I am going to make this bag large size. The cross body strap is what I want to make. Love your videos. Your instruction is very good. I have made the Swoon Sling bad & the boxy bag.
Just discovered you! You are awesome. I am a disney fanatic living in Florida as well. I am actually making many of these as christmas gifts . It is the perfect bag. Love your energy and your tutorials (watched two so far) . Thank you,
You are awesome, have just discovered you and you crack me up...Love it, Love it.... Love IT. Now back to binge watching your You Tube channel... then your Insta ;)))
Just discovered your channel yesterday and I’m loving your tutorials. I appreciate how well you explain every single step. My only wish would be to see more sewing in future tutorials. I always enjoy watching the entire process because I am such a visual learner. Thanks for the tutorials they are very helpful 😊
Jess OklaRoots you’re welcome 😊 I look forward to more of your videos. You have a great camera presence and although I’m sure it’s a nerve wracking process you seem to just have fun with what you’re doing all the while providing great instruction. You’ll only keep getting better!
Hi Jess. Two questions for you! I want to make this bag with crossbody straps but I’d like to add them to the *small* version for a tween girl. 1. Where would the best placement be for straps on the small bag, and 2. Do you have a strap length suggestion for fitting a 10-12 year old? Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
Thanks for the tutorial! I’m new to bag making and followed your Heidi tutorial as well. I love being able to visually follow a pattern and you are easy to follow along with! Unfortunately my strap came out way too small for a crossbody (great for my shoulder though). I think I’ll try following your tutorial but with a 60” cut based on suggestions on the swoon group next time. 👍🏼
Most excellent tute!!! I'm in the process of bag making (another pattern) and soooo wanted to do a matching cross body strap. Can we say life saver... You are! Thanks again... Have subscribed :o) Have a great day!
Hi Jess! I’ve just started watching your tutorials and they’re the easiest to follow that I’ve seen, so thank you! I especially love that you include time stamps. My question is, can you explain why you are using cotton thread instead of all-purpose polyester. I would think that polyester would be stronger than the cotton. Thanks, and I look forward to more tutorials!
Great question! I was using the cotton thread because that is what I happened to have (I'm a quilter originally). I've since switched to poly and LOVE using it.
Hi Jess, I don't know why it took me so long to find your tutorials, I love your sewing space, its so organized, I would love to be part of your giveaway, I love the wool iron matt, I just purchased a mini iron board which wobbles as I built my own sewing table but not so level, not the best alternative but fits my small space, I love your tutorials and am so excited to follow the one you posted for the Clematis wristlet. I am presently trying to re-make a bag which the 2nd time failed, I feel I'm losing confidence and hesitant to try again, you have any suggestions, I know, I should just jump in and go for it right ?? Has this ever happened to you? I'm viewing your tutorials all the way from Barrie, Ontario, Canada … keep them coming Jess, you tutorials as so easy to follow, you take your time to allow us to see every step of the way. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge as well as fun to watch !
Hey there! I totally know the feeling. Honestly, I have a couple bags that I just couldn't get to work out, when it seemed like everyone else could. My advice is to take a break from those for awhile. You aren't bonding with the pattern, and the more you force yourself to sew it the more you are going to dislike it. Put that project to the side and whip up a couple easier projects. Getting your mind off the trouble maker for awhile will help you clear up what went wrong, and handle it better when you return to it. Honestly I like to do totally different crafts when stumped! If my bag just isn't working out, I'll spend a few days cross stitching. Just to give my brain and my sewing machine muscles a break. Sounds crazy, but it works for me. I hope this helps!
Thank you for all the great tutorials! I always love your fabric coordinating, how about a Heidi kit for a giveaway?? Also could you please link me to that gold glitter vinyl on the Hocus Pocus bag?? Thanks again!

Hi Jess...love your tutorials...just finished my Heidi bag and the zipper is upside down! Is there a fix for that or do I just have to take it apart to that point and redo?
Hi, I love your videos. I have made 5 Heidi bags and I keep messing up with the top zipper. The ends of zip are bunched up or uneven. Any suggestion? Also my fabric puckers up from the fleece therolam. I love this bag. I need help with these 2 problems 😫
I would like if I’m so lucky to win!! Bag hardware or vinyl, interfacing, leather or fun fabric! So I can make Heidi bags! Thanks so much! Have a great Day!

Hey Robert, you can use 1/2" hardware. Just make sure your finished strap and connectors measure 1/2" when done (so your strap, for example, should be 2" wide before double folding)

Hi Jess...love your tutorials...just finished my Heidi bag and the zipper is upside down! Is there a fix for that or do I just have to take it apart to that point and redo?
Hello! I know this tutorial is a few years old, but how could I attach a strap to a bag (not the Heidi) that is already completed? Thank you. 😊
Hi, I love your videos. I have made 5 Heidi bags and I keep messing up with the top zipper. The ends of zip are bunched up or uneven. Any suggestion? Also my fabric puckers up from the fleece therolam. I love this bag. I need help with these 2 problems 😫

I can't hep but notice the long needle pine basket, that could have been made by Oklahoma Cherokee. :-) on your table.
Hi Karen! The basket is from Ikea, but funny you mention Cherokee! My husband is Cherokee! I would live to find a handmade basked like this.

Disney merchandise!
Oh yes, I forgot to ask … did you happen to make your vinyl strap for the Swoon with a domestic machine ?
Yup! My Juki Tl-2010Q is my favorite machine!
Do you think 1/2" d rings are too small for the Heidi large clutch?
Yes I do. I would do 3/4" or 1"
Could you tell me where you got the beautiful rose gold hardware? I'm having trouble finding any to match a zipper I have. Thanks
I got these from Emmaline Bags. They have the best selection!
@@OklaRoots thank you thank you thank you. I know you said it in there somewhere, but I couldn't find it.
If i cant find 3/4” D Rings, I have 1/2” rings and hooks will this work, or will i require major changes to the strap?
Hey Robert, you can use 1/2" hardware. Just make sure your finished strap and connectors measure 1/2" when done (so your strap, for example, should be 2" wide before double folding)
Jess, what do I need to do to get the free pattern for the bag?
Hey Sharon, here is the link for the pattern: swoonpatterns.com/shop/heidi-foldover/
