I love how quiet the audience is. They’re hanging on their every word, every note. So respectful
No phones, nobody talking. Seems impossible now.
Great song, wow. Garcia is the confirmation that not only Europe has good musicians. The US have Jerry, and he is/was awesome.
Totally.🌹
Musically educated crowd. Would you expect anything different. The best fingerwork on the guitar and also had the magic in his voice. As good as the world class Classical musicians. With a touch of improvisation.
Half of them are high as fuck
Just living in the moment
I was born in 94 and would give literally anything to have been able to see Jerry play just once.
Learn to lucid dream. Go see Jerry.
I know quite a few people that would do anything to be 24 again, like you 😉. Count your blessings, you get to watch his legacy unfold. I understand what you're saying though. There's tons of kids that miss Jerry, and never even got to see him. That's how special he is
@@PandasUNITE it's CRAZY you should say that - or that I should come across this comment!!!!! My boyfriend had this song playing as I slept this morning. I dreamt it was playing as I was cleaning when suddenly the music changed and I turned to see Jerry standing behind me playing it just for me. Then I thanked my boyfriend for bringing Jerry to me. THEN i woke up! And I thanked him for real ❤
Dead Magic.
Not crazy at all. These spirits don't leave us, we just choose whether to leave them.
His charisma was like nothing else I have ever experienced. As he would walk onto a stage the whole room would fill with a buzz of excitement that seemed out of proportion to his mild manner and the way he comported himself. It was effortless, the way he would command the rapt attention of 20,000 people and make the room feel intimate. It was really something special and something I have never really experienced in any other setting.
Still one of the only celebrities I feel a sense of loss for. He was truly someone special. Great post!
Wow! My feelings precisely. God Bless You brother. R.I.P. Jerry
I'm not even a Dead fan. But these sounds should never be forgotten. God bless Jerry...may you rest in Peace. ❤
Jerry Garcia was a gift to the world
Jerry shows were the best 👍
Celebrity is an insult. The guy was a musician.
Tremendous version. I only wish we could see a little more of Grisman, he's incredibly fun to watch, grooving, playing his lines. Jerry truly is a musical legend but so is Grisman in his own right
Agree; definitely not enough of Grisman
Absolutely agree. I made a similar comment.
The Real Jerry Garcia ! I was lucky enough to spend many rainy days hanging out upstairs at the Dead House singing the Old Songs with Jerry. Jerry was addicted to American music.
This is an old Scottish balad
What does what you're saying mean? I'm a bit confused.
This is the sound that could melt a heart of stone... heart achingly wonderful music making.
Pentangle, an English folk group does a version of this song, Cruel Sister on their album of the same name.
I believe the last track features the song, Jack Orion. In that song, it is said that his playing, "Could melt the heart of stone.
I found your comment and the song Jerry sang quite coincidental... lol
I was just going to comment this! It really could. I’ve always wanted to get a tattoo of that line
Oh the Wind and the Rain . I had to play this incredible song the night of the wind and the rain , Costa Mesa , California 8/20/-8/21 2023
This song makes me feel 100 years old such a storyteller jerry was thanks for the post!
With my iPod and headphones...3am...alone in bedroom dancing so hard I'm breaking shit!..... I truly love this cat... I celebrate you every day Jerry!... Thanks for all the real good times....
That's great! When I was locked up for a crime I didnt commit, I was allowed a CD player with headphones. I listened to Jerry, and danced in my cell, crazy style, all alone, he helped me get thru it!!! Love Jerry!
Cast.
This is FANTASTIC
What a fucking JOY it is to watch
Goosebumps every time I hear this song.
Just staying inside today, self-quarantined, and no work with the "wind and rain" in Los Angeles - found this beauty.
I was actually 3 feet from Jerry for this show. My girlfriend at the time had some volunteer position that got us inside the Warfield before the doors opened, and when they announced that they were about to open the doors, we ran up to the stage and watched the whole show from the front. It was so quiet in the audience, as if we were all at the opera.
I miss Jerry
Dru, so glad we helped you re-live this show!
me too
Beautiful, thx.... and wonderful to see 4 musicians experiencing so much joy and just _groovin'_ while performing such a simple tune together!
Such a sweet tune! I think it was jerry that brought it back into the public forum. Impeccable taste!
This is GOLD Jerry !!! GOLD !!!
Banya stop stealing my jokes!
They been rehearsing and playing shows now for well over a year and at this point, they are polished and magnificent. This show, IMO, is the best of the whole Grisman/Garcia arrangement.
+Beveragizer Stealth …You bet, and love the way Dave Grisman is obviously having a good old time of it… what a terrific combo!
Deane Kenneth I was there for all five and you are correct.
Classic Garcia & Grisman.........really brings back memories from back in the Day
I love this song always have....always will oh that dreadful wind and rain.
This song is sooo good. And the audio here is absolutely fantastic. How?!
This is a terrific version of this tune.
Thank you Jerry, David, Joe, and Jim, and all the folks who wrote this tune. So tragic and beautiful... :-(
There were two sisters came walkin' down the stream
Oh the wind and rain
The one behind pushed the other one in
Cryin' oh the dreadful wind and rain
Johnny gave the youngest a gay gold ring
Oh the wind and rain
Didn't give the oldest one anything
Cryin' oh the dreadful wind and rain
They pushed her into the river to drown
Oh the wind and rain
And watched her as she floated down
Cryin' oh the dreadful wind and rain
Floated 'till she came to a miller's pond
Oh the wind and rain
Mama oh father there swims a swan (note 1)
Cryin' oh the dreadful wind and rain
The miller pushed her out with a fishing hook (note 2)
Oh the wind and rain
Drew that fair maid from the brook (note 3)
Cryin' oh the dreadful wind and rain
He left her on the banks to dry
Cryin' oh the wind and rain
And a fiddlin' fool come passing by
Cryin' oh the dreadful wind and rain
Out of the woods came a fidder fair
Oh the wind and rain
Took thirty strands of her long yellow hair
Cryin' oh the dreadful wind and rain
And he made a fiddle bow of her long yellow hair
Oh the wind and rain
He made a fiddle bow of her long yellow hair
Cryin' oh the dreadful wind and rain
He made fiddle pegs of her long finger bones
Oh the wind and rain
He made fiddle pegs of her long finger bones
Cryin' oh the dreadful wind and rain
And he made a little fiddle of her breast bone
Oh the wind and rain
The sound could melt a heart of stone
Cryin' oh the dreadful wind and rain
And the only tune that the fiddle would play
Was oh the wind and rain
The only tune that the fiddle would play
Was oh the dreadful wind and rain
Its kinda lighthearted, whirlwind of a song lyrically. Maybe a bit dark but in the comical sense. What's your opinion?
@@evankind2246 I'll chime in if it's okay the part about the sisters and how one received a ring and also how one pushed the other one in to drown always struck a chord with me how they made a fiddle that would make listeners weap out of her body kind of says to me that the sister that drowned actually came out better than the one who pushed her into drown.
Couple of things and I realize almost all lyrics have what's above. But - certainly sounds like Jerry says 'gaggle' ring instead of 'gay gold' ring. A gaggle ring is literally a ring with a gaggle of geese on it. So maybe...
And while I have no answer it doesn't sound like he's singing 'swims' a swan - doesn't sound like 'swims'. Maybe I have too much time on my hands!
Jah praises blessings thanks Jah herb Jah love Jah Jerry Tucson Arizona Sonoran desert 🏜
I like the version of this tale, by Pentangle, a 60s English folk group.
In that version it is a harp, and it begins to play and sing by itself to her murdering sister, asking her, WHY. :)
I lost this bootleg and now here it is. This is a very happy day.
I simply cannot describe how this makes me feel... "love" maybe?
The best to ever do the damn thing!
This song brings me to tears
I always wanted to see Jerry play acoustic ...never happened for me...saw some great shows but never a treat like this
i hope this gets covered forever
I was living on the panhandle the winter of 91 to 92 and was at this show down in the mission at the warfield
Potentially the best rendition of this song....
The one on Almost Acoustic though…. So woodsy and heavy
Ahh the Warfeild Theatre, holds a special peice of my heart. I think Jer loved playing there, as he and the Grateful Dead loved playing the Capital Theater Passaic N.J. I never heard this before, so damn good I listened to it 5 times back to back!!! Chicken Shack!!! Very very cool.
Beautiful PanamaRed and Less Than Face Production...thanks for posting this
See you at GreyFox
PS I miss Jerry
Damn, Jerry sounds good here! Is that his signature Alvarez he's playing?? Sweet.
This 5 night G/G run was the highlight of my GD Tour career. Front row every night. This is why I moved to SF!
Hi, can you tell me what show this is because I would love to hear the rest especially with that violin Dude
Very Nice !
Not many performers can pull off the sweatpants look like Jerry
In sharp contrast to Weir's almost illegally short hot pants.
@@tonydanis1480 Phil tucking the tie dye into sweatpants disturbed me at the time but now that I'm old I get it, it's aerodynamic and stylish.
I'glad that Grisman is still playing.
Dead to the core... Lucky 13 always...
" such greatness ".....miss you dude
I loved Jerry - especially with David. But this video, even though the music is awesome, it's Jerry's left hand shaking.
This is fire
I was at this show. I have never heard Wind and Rain before and was so struck by the song I was barely aware of the rest of the show (fortunately, I go a bootleg soon thereafter).
i was there. it was my 18th birthday
excellent job jerry ❤️
Excellent song!
Thank you, and thanks for the ◕‿◕
They didn’t show enough of Grisman and the other musicians.
You can bet the farm those fellers were proud to stand in that shadow.
best place and way to see Jerry!!!!!!
I miss you Jerry
Jerrytastic!
Who the hell would give this a thumbs down??
Someone who has no clue what classic timeless music is.
My guess is that it was the drowned sister under multiple accounts.
I was at this series of shows hanging with my good friend Brian Thunderwolf. You know. They guy who wrote SARAH for the Starship. A good time was had by all.
Absolutely Beautiful !!!!!! (~);} 🌹
They didn't show Grisman enough...
Just sublime.

Awesome.
Sweet ⚘❤⚘
Grisham flows like water
Jerry 😊
Great Jerry, the man was a Bull, toured until the end.
I was there
🔥🎸🍻👍🏼✌🏼❤️
HARD
i remember being there , there was waitress serving cocktails in tuxedo's
A person would be hard pressed to find any instance of Garcia being violent. With the exception of grade school. His was a dubiousness that was infectious and hard to escape.
Dat fiddle doe
That type of expression always sounds so phisticated
Could anyone point out what key the song is being played in?
amazing
Her Story
Pure 24 karat gold.
Whhhhhattttt☺️
Dreadful Great!
( ;
Mule sez---it was dreadful the day Jerry left (~);}
Fantastic!
Dats what's up...
Jerry was not the only one on the stage ,like a video tractor beam on him
Bob Dylan must have got the idea for Percy’s song from this song
Garcia playing vibrato as he strums chords.......
I was saw this right in front of Jerry. You had to be there to see it and be able to appreciate it. If you were not there you just cannot relate.
bor yarrum Whatever. It's timeless. I first heard it on a bootleg I got in 2001. Your experience is not the final say for anyone hearing this song. Their experience is every bit as valid and memorable as yours. Any real Jerry fan would understand that.
I was there and totally agree. Great 10 shows if you count the 5 JGB shows. The riot shows if I remember correctly
I mean yeah it's beautiful songwriting but is it WAP by nikki minaj?
The lyrics are wrong.
They are confused
Butchered the traditional song. Nice music but not for this old song. Lyrics changed dramatically.
Boy did he smell bad ! Never bathed and lived in a dumpster.
Douchebag!
