- Byron takes WildWild's new mascot on a spontaneous self-drive safari in Pilanesberg National Park, South Africa. They encounter mating lions, an elephant bull gets the heart racing and plenty more. Byron also takes a few photographs for a change.

What an amazing video, congrats. Any recommendations on what route to take inside Pilanesberg National Park to have the best chance of big 5 sightings during a self drive safari. Visiting there next week so your inputs would be very helpful. Thanks.
Thank you. I haven’t been in a while so not too sure what’s happening sightings wise at the moment. But generally the whole central area of the park is great, especially for big 5.. hope that helps a little! Enjoy it
Pilanesburg was once the most well kept park even 20 years ago, but now it appears dreadful. The coffeeshop was burnt down too.😢
Recently we were in Pilanesberg and we saw the big five in 3 hours. Those fires were a blessing in disguise and we loved all the sightings very much. It makes you not think about the hustle and bustle in the city.
That’s amazing! So true, we are blessed to have this place to escape to 💯
I was there and i was there when the fire happend and i was with my cosins and there were helycopters with water😢😮
Do they still have Wild dogs at Pilansberg. I had timeshare at Bakubung many years ago. And they released about 7 to 8 Wild Dogs. We witnessed their release. We sold Timeshare because it was in December and the units never had aircons and we also found if at night you want keep windows open no screens on windows. We have Time share at Burchels Bush lodge in May and Ngwenya in September and January.
Unfortunately not for at least 3 or 4 years. That must’ve been amazing to see their release. I do know they were beginning to have problems with them finding their way out of the park and entering the surrounding communities. Sounds like a good call to sell that timeshare considering the heat! Glad you at least have some other great places to still visit 💯
I’ve been to Fallasburg it was beautiful. I got a photo of a young male leopard at about 20 feet amongst other wildlife.
Awesome, there’s nothing like the feeling of seeing a leopard!
you should go back to the pilanesberg (def not cuz i live near there)
Definitely need to head back at some point! You’re lucky to live close to a place like that 💯
as a local to the pilanesberg, those fires, as unfortunate as they were, provided some of the best game viewing in years. Great footage.
I must say, I agree it was beautiful in the months after those fires. Thanks for watching!
Ur so cute ❤
Another super video, Byron - great music, well-paced, just all-round lekkerness 🙌🏻😁 Loving Crunchie’s ‘reactions’ as well 😂 Glad that ellie didn’t roll you down a hill 🙈
Thanks Villiers! Crunchie was just speechless 😂 got quite lucky with the ellie… looks like you’re having an epic trip already, I’m a little envious!
@@WildWildJourneys, I’ve only been here for one day and I’ve been on a roller-coaster! The heat, the drought, video bs photos (as you know 😣), 100-500 vs 600, nothing to see for hours then an hour with a cheetah! Nuts, I tell you 🥜🥜🥜
Sounds like it’s all making for a good story already! Looking forward to seeing what you can create with that awesome gear 💯 enjoy 🐾
Great video Byron and wow what a close call with that big bull…/good thing he just wanted to wipe off a bit of mud and not more 👍. Congrats on the mating lions that’s always a treat and your rhino footage….takes me back to the glory days in Kruger when there was a rhino seemingly around every bend in the South.
Awesome video….can’t wait to see what you are up to next.
Thanks Joe! Yup, very lucky he was gentle while I started up… the lions were big highlight and the rhinos on that short grass was a privilege 👌🏼 thanks again for watching
Capturing the true essence of Pilanesberg! Super footage! Thanks for bringing your journeys to all of us.👌One of the best videos of the beautiful Pilanesberg💥
Thanks Jaco! Pilanesberg is such a special place 💯
Another AWESOME episode Byron, the way you tell the story of the African bush is next level💥Crunchie doesnt seem to be quite the talker...as for the ellie bull, I will leave that with the elpehant whispers but thanks for sharing the good and the bad, which a lot of social media doesnt do and luckily it could have been much worse and well done on how you handeled it, a lot of people I knoe would have called a trip after something like that.
Thanks a ton, Christiaan! Crunchie was just speechless with the whole experience… yup, gotta keep it real and learn from it. Super lucky the car hardly got damaged and it didn’t escalate into something hectic. Still was definitely a bit shaken up though 😂
Another brilliant video. I am glad you struggle with prioritising photos vs videos. I know I’m going to struggle with that a lot now I’m wanting to do more video! Keep up the great work, and great sightings!
Thank you so much.. Yup, It’s quite tough to pick your moments when it comes to that - good luck with it!
Fabulous, so green but unfortunately the fire destruction 😞, glad not too bad damage from scary elephant encounter 😅...🥰💖
It’s so beautiful at the moment! Yup, got quite lucky with that one 😬
Sjoe, that was a scary encounter. I think that Ele was trying to tell you it's time for a roof rack on the Fortuner
Haha good point, I think you’re right!
Simply amazing footage! Great work.
Thanks so much! 🙏🏼
