- The magnetic socket shown is from a set of impact rated 3/8" drive CASOMAN brand sockets. Set came with 7mm - 19mm with no sizes skipped. Found them on Amazon

Aluminum fasteners have entered the chat
The aluminum fasteners left the chat after I showed the first trick. Use that.
Snap-On has short extensions with a magnet that protrudes into the well making any shallow socket magnetic.
I see where those might come in handy tho if I can make any shallow into a magnetic version…they are on the shopping list, thanks for the comment ✌️
Mr fancy pants over here with his magnet socket 🥱 u got soft hands brother 😂😂
You're focusing on the texture of my hands...that's really creepy.
Koken nut grip sockets....works on all materials
Oh wow! I’ve never come across those! Thanks for the recommendation 👍 they will pair great with my recent Koken Z-EAL 3/8" ratchet
Put grease in the socket. It will hold, good trick when trying to remove spark plugs
That is an option that works but I personally don't want grease in all my sockets. Or on all the fasteners. Magnets keep it clean, saves time in my shop.
@@TorqueAndTwistedsomeone finally said it. People always go to “put grease in it” when we know they don’t even do that… who wants grease off over their tools
I’d have to be cleaning my hands and tools all day long to keep the grease off the car’s paint and off my tools so the process didn’t repeat itself forever
@@BackwoodsGarageLLC. grease in 1 socket that can be easily washed off, be practical, don't use nickel anti seize, just some cheap simple lithium grease.
We're talking tricks in a jam, not perfect conditions having the right tool.
Yes that works in a jam. But I'm in jams a lot so I like having tools to make the jam taste better
If you undo a nut it will get stuck in the socket and you’ll have to use a screwdriver to push it out or get a bolt to thread on a and pull it out. I guess these things would be more of a special case use rather then everyday use sockets
Yes, these aren’t really for every application ever, when you’re working tight spaces or reaching down into engine base to try to set fasteners
Another option to remove them if they’re nuts, stuck in there, grab the compatible bolt and thread it in to pull the nut out
I have been using magnets for years
I've had a set of 1/4" for a few years but hadn't been able to find a full set of 3/8" drive that weren't spark plug sockets. Glad I came across these online.
I only resort to the paper when I cannot find the magnetic set or too busy to go grab the set.
Every "tip" and "trick" just involves a specialised tool...no actual tips except "Buy this tool".
Nothing is free unless you can figure out how to do this with wind and dirt.
@@TorqueAndTwisted Not the point of my comment, your response is as bogus as your "tips" 🤣
An ACTUAL tip would be to use a dab of grease to suction the bolt inside the socket.
Youre welcome.
Is the grease free? No. Is the paper towel or solvent to clean the grease off socket free? No. Is the socket free? No. Is the ratchet free? No. Do you wanna play again?
You’re welcome 👍
@@TorqueAndTwisted Youre deflecting from the point of my comment, youre either arrogant or stupid.
I’m pointing out that what you’re pointing out isn’t free. I don’t need to follow your line of discussion. I am free to choose how to comment and think however I’d like. You are also free to not come back here and argue your point, that part is free👍
Olsa tools has some magnet inserts
Seems more like a "product" than a "trick"
Well sometimes tips and tricks come in the form of “this is better than that” and that might be a product that solves an issue better. If you have a magnet laying around and some glue you could make your own. But the socket, magnet, and glue used are all products as well.
Meanwhile spark plug sockets have always been this way.
Spark plug sockets have not always been magnetic, they had rubber boots in them before that. But yes they do exist. However, to my knowledge spark plug sockets aren't offered as a full set with no sizes skipped from 7mm-19mm
Now do that with titanium bolt😁
Use the first trick shown for that. Cheers
@@TorqueAndTwisted i usually use painters tape
I use painters tape for a lot of things non-painting related but I don’t think I’ve ever stuffed it in a socket 🤔, thanks for the idea, in might have to try that out 👍
