We recently replaced our Ektorp sofas with Ikea’s new Uppland sofas and I wanted to share with you my honest review of the Uppland sofa. This video goes over all the differences between the Ektorp and Uppland sofas (like Does the Uppland sofa cover fit an Ektorp sofa?) and unboxing the Ikea Uppland sofa.
I hope this helps anyone who is interested in buying an IKEA Uppland sofa!

Thank you for showing the contrast between the two sofas with the measurements. Because of your video, I was able to renovate my 11year old Ektorp sofa by replacing the foam in the seat cushions and adding stuffing in the back cushions. I love that the Uppland slip cover body is a bit loose. I can remove it easier for washing. I couldn’t afford a new sofa but now my sofa is like new. I renovated a sofa, chair and ottoman for $250.

Thanks so much for the review - it was very helpful. I’m shorter than you are, so hesitate about the Uppland. We’ve had our Ektorp for 15 years (daily use with 4 people) and it has been fantastic.

I used the rocker prior to baby delivery when I was up in the middle of the night due to heartburn and loved it! Little one is now 6 days old and loves the rocker ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxXH3jIpsn6vpr3D26KWAriUejh7CSxVp7 , she gets great sleep when used. I had a 1st degree tear repair so sitting can be very uncomfortable and down right painful when the rx mortin wears off, however even then the rocker is firm enough for support but soft enough to feel comfortable. I'm 4'9" so I fit in the chair easily and my 6"3' friend also can sit comfortably in it with a little one. 💖 I would definitely recommend this rocker as a must have for any parent to be👍

Love my Uppland! I'm 5'6" and my feet dangle too, depending on how I sit, but I like that. Most of Ikea's sofas sit too low, especially for people with back/knee problems and some seniors, making it difficult for them to get back up. I went with dark grey. (It replaced my black Ikea Tylosand that was well worn out.)

We love our Uppland sectional! I am only 5'4 so it is deep and my feet do indeed dangle but I wanted a deeper couch. It's the perfect couch for those with kids/pets and I have extra slip covers in the variety offered. I hope this couch lasts for a few good years!
I found them kinda high too but you can always order shorter feet from amazon that would make it a bit lower and great review on couches Thanks

Great video. Up until 3 weeks ago I had 2 Ektorp loveseats, the matching couch, the arm chair and ottoman. I just tossed the couch and loveseats after 15yrs. Everything was white slipcovered and luckily I stocked up on 5 extra sets of covers when they were cheap. Only $50 for the couch for example. I noticed a couple years ago those prices tripled. I planned on getting new Ektorps but had no idea the were discontinued. So bummed about that. I thought the Uppland was the same but I'm 5.1 and thanks to you, I definitely would not be comfortable with dangling feet. Lol Thanks for all your info, it was very helpful

@@catholichomebody7200 I am at a loss right now lol. Ikea is 2 hrs away from me so eventually I will get down there and try the Harlanda out. Maybe in a secuonal or at least the couch with an attached chaise. Finding white slipcovered couches on even Wayfair are becoming a problem unless you plan on spending $4-8k and if you need to replace the covers, they run almost $1k. Ikea completely spoiled me. I know they are out of stock on everything I'm interested in so I might have to suck it up and just go down try so out. I'm used to running over there at any time, buying the furniture, loading in the truck and going home. But like I said "out of stock" on every single one of the sets I like. Luckily I kept a loveseat ,the arm chair and ottoman to hold me over. When your plan goes to poop, it gets so overwhelming. So I'm gonna take a break and a breath. Maybe by the time I'm ready faithful Ektorp lovers will petition them to come back lol
White! We have 2 ektorp sofas in white. (and the chair and ottoman) They're 16 years old and need replaced. The original covers were blue. The color faded a lot, with use and especially trying to remove stains. The white is great because you can be aggressive and scrub out stains with no fade. I came here because I still like the look. Uppland is the only option now and I appreciate this review. Now IF my nearest IKEA will get them in...

Thank you for sharing this comparison! I just lucked up and got the Uppland in the as is section. It was previously a display couch but it came with the awful red floral cover😩 I’m now in search of a better cover.
Oh wow, how lucky?! I agree, the red floral is a little too bold for me. I've had the hardest time finding covers, let me know if you find something!
You have to constantly check with IKEA in order to score the covers...trust me, I did! I now have it in white, Hallarp Grey, and totebo beige. I am going to purchase Hallarp Beige next! The Uppland has a timeless style to it that fits any livingroom or den look! Best of luck!

Can I use the uppland slipcovers on the ektorp?? Cause I want to renew my ektorp cover but unfortunately I cant afford the uppland and they don’t sell ektorp’s cover anymore in my local Ikea.
Tried them both in the store, and I thought the ektorp was markedly more comfortable. I don’t like sitting in a couch where my feet don’t touch the floor
Have you ever considered finding shorter feet for the Uppland to lower it a bit? I was hoping to purchase the Ektorp but it is out of stock, too bad it has been discontinued... And since I can't buy that I am considering the Uppland and potentially swapping the feet to lower it
I think you could definitely do that. I decided to keep the original legs but it did cross my mind to swap them. Be mindful that the slipcover would definitely “puddle” at the bottom.
What about the measurement of the arm rests? How do they compare?
Do the Upland slipcovers stay in place or do they shift and need frequent repositioning? Thanks for your helpful review/comparison.
The slipcovers are pretty snug and I haven't had any issues with them not staying in place.
Hi!! Hello, I wanted to know if the Uppland covers have shrunk with the washes?
I notice that the white cover shrink a lot more compared to the dark gray and beige covers. Not much shrinkage with the dark gray or beige
Does anyone know if the uppland 3 seat sofa cover will fit the 3.5 ektorp sofa? I have the 3.5 ektorp and its hard to find affordable slipcovers for the 3.5. If anyone knows of any slipcovers that will work on the 3.5 please let me know.
What color did you get in the Uppland sofa? Trying to decide between white and light beige
We bought the hallarp beige. I wanted white but they were sold out of all covers and only had the one hallarp beige. I ended up making my own white slipcovers. The light gray, green, and light beige have an interesting square-looking pattern in the fabric. You can't see it in photos but definitely noticeable in person. It may not be that big of a deal depending on your preference.
Could you tell me if the seat cushions flatten or do they stay plump on the Ektorp?
So far (which has been over half a year now) the cushions are still very plump
Replace the couch legs with shorter screw in legs and to make it accommodate your height

Is the Uppland with the chaise worth the extra 250? I’m looking at both Upplands
I would say it honestly depends on your space and preferences. My sister had the chase but it worked better for her to have the regular sofa.
How would you say the ektorp cushions have held up?
They have held up decently well. I do have one cushion that has gotten a little torn but that is more so because of my littles. It has definitely held up way better than the ektorp in some ways. I will be posting a year update soon where I go more into how it’s held up.
What was the color you got of the new uppland sofa?
hallarp beige. the totebo light beige has a weird square-like pattern when looking at it up close

I want to buy the Uppland couch and pair with my Ektorp chairs, but finding it hard to match the fabrics. I love the taupe color, but there's to Toleto beige for the chairs..only Hallarp...idk if I'm spelling g those right...sigh
