Nick Alfieri played several years for the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns (and also for the Italian National Team; he got Italian citizenship because of his Italian ancestry). The shots are mostly from Schwäbisch Hall, but some also from the Stuttgart Surge team, where he now works as videographer and "brand partner" after ending his professional football career.

This is Nick Alfieri aka Nalf. An American football player now living in Germany. Man, he has an American accent - can't you hear that? I am German and I can hear it. If he was Irish, you'd definitely hear it, too! How can he be Irish?

It's Schwäbisch Hall, if you want to look it up.
Small town near Stuttgart and if you are a car enthusiast Stuttgart is definitely your go-to city in Germany.
Mercedes and Porsche have their headquarters there and their museums.
    Both are worth a visit.

I am German and the so-called "German culture of remembrance" is a matter of course in our country. Every day, for example, there are documentaries on at least two channels which show among other things the background of how Hitler was able to lever out parliament to come to power, the crimes of the GESTAPO (Secret state police) in their torture cellars, the deportation of the Jews, underlaid with original images from the concentration camps, the cruelest war crimes of the SS, which followed the Wehrmacht on the campaign and then brought unimaginable suffering to the rest of the population, which was also filmed at the time. Some already in color, which makes the whole thing seem even more bizarre. Trenches, on the edges of which Jews were killed by the hundreds with shots to the neck, etc. -
I don't want to write any more about it because it's just too cruel.
There are also "Stepstones". Small memorial plaques laid in the ground, so-called Stolpersteine, are intended to commemorate the fate of people who were persecuted, murdered, deported, expelled or driven to suicide during the National Socialist era. The square brass plaques with rounded corners and edges are inscribed with letters hammered in by hand using a hammer and hammer letters, showing e.g. who was deported in that house. They are usually set into the sidewalk or surface of the respective sidewalk at the same level in front of the last freely chosen homes of Nazi victims. On December 29, 2019 the 75,000th Stepstone was laid in Memmingen.
In the German extermination camps, the women and children were gassed first, so that no more Jews could be born and grow up. Very few Germans wanted to have known about the concentration camps, which of course was complete nonsense. For example, thousands of apartments were suddenly vacant because the Jewish residents had been deported during the night. The very next day, "Aryan" Germans, mostly belonging to the party cadre, moved in. Then hundreds of civilian German guards were employed in the death camps, who were even proud of their "work" and bragged about it to their acquaintances and friends. I could give many more examples, which prove that it was total bullshit, when it was claimed not to have seen anything and not to know what was happening there.
In any case, I am a little proud of the fact that in Germany, even more than 75 years after the war, these unimaginable crimes against humanity have been and are being dealt with.

It was based on the Rammstein song "Pussy", where the bratwurst is put into the sauerkraut. 😆
I'm German and know our cuisine, although I don't like all of it. 😋
Döner Kebab is not typically German, it is Turkish, but is eaten a lot in Germany.

#5 in a nutshell: There has never been a cathartic punishment for the German folks after WWII (because there is no punishment that could ever put justice or put things right). So, many of them poised in a state of expectation for the whip to come. In vain, too long. This built up autoaggression, agression against insurgants, and at least led to victim blaming. And they were handing down their inability on accounting for the past to their children and grandchildren. As a result we have a lot of right wing people today, still rejecting, keeping a blind eye on the past, fighting to ring down the curtain. (And by the way seem to gain a welcome relief from beeing legally authorized by current events to agitate against Jews/Israel again) And the more they fight against memory culture, the more necessity is drawn to the subject by the others. Overreaction causes overreaction.

I found the original video and the channel infos :
My name is Nick Alfieri. I'm a former professional football player and filmmaker from Portland, OR in the USA but I'm currently living in a small town in Germany called Schwäbisch Hall.
On this channel I share bits of my life, oftentimes focusing on cultural differences between the USA and Germany that I pick up on in my experiences. I love playing football, filmmaking, and my family, and you'll also see a lot of that on here. Enjoy!

There is a recent documentary on "DW" (Deutsche Welle) here on youtube. Which explains that the "German quality", especially in cars is no longer valid. ít´s since decades a myth. It has nothing to do with the location of the production. ...I´m German, and I´m driving a "Vorsprung durch Technik" (Audi). ...today: Disadvantage through ancient VW technology 🙂

    This #5 is wrong.
Germans do have less and less national patriotism year after year. 2008 at the WM 2008 soccoer after that since then you rarely see any national flags.
And now with the actual goverment it's like we are under a chees dome. Sure we are upsed and angry about many things but germans dont do civil uprisings like in france for exemple.
So my point is.. 5 is wrong becouse we were brainwashed since many decades in our school system in history classes to be ashamed and permanently get the focus on mainly that point of hirtory year after year till we graduate and go working.
We somehow feel guilty for it becouse it sticks to our country. If your talk with peolle on the road many wount want to talk with you about that, keep their mouth shut and walk on.
Or they just shake their heads and think for themselfes "What an US idiot" (I dont want to be rude ^^) but what's really upseting us Germans.
A lot of other countrys, the mor far you go away from Germany, the more people from other countries believe we still are Na**s or i've heared and seen videos where other influenced people said that we still habe a "Führer" ... that's so rediciulous...
    Coming from a German.

Same. By the time, I was in 10th grade, I got really annoyed by how much WW2 was overemphasized in history lessons. Rarely were the amazing german contributians mentioned. Like the prussian king who invented the public school system that until today is securing a literate society in all the western world. Or any of the engineering breakthroughs made in germany. And never did they mention the really interesting follow-up studies on the holocaust like the milgram-experiments. At least "Die Welle" was mentioned. But one could have done a much better job by pointing out, that it's human to fall for such ideologies and how to critically think.
