I once met her in person about 30 years ago during the X-files hey-day. It's mind blowing that THIRTY years later she looks even more beautiful. And without makeup.
I love makeup (I’m an artist) so each time I’m trying something different. Love how you can express your feelings. But healthy skin is key to getting good makeup.
I rarely wore makeup. I’m 71. My mother would shame me as I got into my 40’s for not wearing makeup. I didn’t cave, it was the only rebellious action I took with this narcissistic person. What a freeing realization for me today because I would beat myself up for not standing up to her abuse. Thank you.
@@nancyhoddy5553”The picture of Dorian Gray” by Oscar Wilde is about someone who never ages, but the picture of them ages instead. So the comment is saying that Valerie Bertinelli looks younger than you would expect.
@@nancyhoddy5553 I'm sorry....that's an obscure reference to Oscar Wilde's "The Portrait of Dorian Gray" about a man who, essentially, remains eternally youthful while a portrait of himself which he keeps in his attic grows progressively more aged and ugly. Not to disparage Ms. Bertinelli at all. It was just a way to comment on her eternal youth. I'm sure her portrait in the attic is similarly lovely!
My grandmother had a two hour skin routine each morning with imported Swiss scrubs, emollients, and hydrating balms, involving specifically intricate massage techniques. I was too small to be allowed to roam, sho I watched her daily and learned that beauty was about skin health, and healing from the impact of make-up. To me, make-up made me look like I had been beat up - blue eyes, red cheeks, and red mouth. It was not until high school, when I learned stage make-up, that I began to understand the wonders of the stuff. Meanwhile, grandma looked 50 when she was 70.
They all look beautiful, but they also have great skin and bone structure. I do think a lack of makeup adds more character to women’s faces and makes them look a lot more interesting and unique. However, I enjoy wearing makeup sometimes. I went through a period of several years in my 40s when it seemed pointless and a waste of time so I stopped wearing it as much. Now at age 48, I’m wearing it more often, not because I feel ugly without it but because I’ve been rediscovering the fun of dressing up. The difference now is that I do it mostly for my own benefit and how it makes me feel, not to impress other people.
These women have the means to get facials, skin care products… to maintain their natural beauty. We need to find the role models in our own lives to uplift and applaud for carrying theirselves with confidence.
yep! It was a good thought by these wealthy celebs - but not really attainable or real. they appear as if they all 'prepped' for this episode with dermatologists n cosmotologists .
I guess I’m the odd ball because I always saw makeup as glamorous and especially with the eyes. Eye makeup frames the eyes and makes them stand out. But to each their own. Whatever makes you happy.
I love wearing makeup & will wear it until my last breath, I take care of my skin, don't cake on the makeup/wear false eyelashes, I'm ok if I don't wear makeup either, but I look/even feel better when wearing it!
Same! I'm 56 and often get told I don't look it. I wore makeup in junior high and a little bit of high school. It was the 80s, after all! Haha! But it's just not for me. I don't think any one of us should be made to feel like we HAVE to wear it... but also if you want to wear it, go for it!
Its funny because my mom always said like Gayle's mom....never leave without your "face" on..... When I turned 30 I ditched makeup and I LOVE it! So its definitely worth a try if you've never done it.❤
I am LOVING this so much!!! You ALL look beautiful without the Makeup... :) I use Moisturizer on my face instead of Makeup and I seriously think its helped me to age less and feel better!!
GA is wearing makeup, you can see the liner. It may be less than she is used to for public appearances, but it stands out on a stage with makeup free women.
Almost 40 and still go makeup free 99% of the time! I’m not judging people who wear it, I’m just lazy! I was always told I’d commit to a daily makeup routine when I got older, but, nope! When you’re older you have less energy to wake up earlier to put on makeup!
I love this makeup free idea 💯‼️ It’s always been so pushed on women and young girls! It was never for, not any! I have often felt like the oddball! Fortunately, I embraced it ❤
I remember in the late 80s when I wore so much makeup.Especially I make up and foundation. And 1 day I came to work without any makeup on and I'm naturally blonde, my lashes and brows, you can't even see and the receptionist didn't even recognize me for like 2 minutes.Oh my god how funny!!
Yesterday, I was out for a girlfriend lunch. Our sweet server was 21 years old. She had a fake tan, HUGE fake eyelashes, long nails and what appears to be fuller lips. We were talking about how sad we all felt that this BEAUTIFUL young girl felt the need to basically wear a costume. Of course, women have been wearing makeup since time and memorial. But now it seems like it's out of control. I hope the makeup free or minimal makeup revolution continues and takes over our young girls and women. Note: out of the 4 of us, only 1 was wearing makeup.
My mother gave me a gift box from Charly and oh I were so happy. (For my 16th birthday) My dad was upset and said you don't give someone groceries for a birtday!!!!😅❤😊
Hope it becomes a national trend. I do think a little mascara, blush and light lipstick is still basically no make up. It is the false eyelashes, contouring, 3 kinds of eyeshadow, eyeliner, heavy lipstick and lip gloss and whatever else women use that actually covers their natural beauty. I am thinking of Julia Roberts in the movie Pretty Woman...although very exaggerated.
It’s the opposite with me, my mom wore a lot of makeup in the 80’s and I couldn’t stand the smell or look of it so I only wore it a little throughout the years.
My mom was a businesswoman. The way we looked was Very important to her. Because of that, i believed that you didn't walk outside without looking "perfect ". However, when I turned 26, I stooped wearing Any makeup. When I do put something on, its off my face within an hour. It just feels Wrong.

She's been full tilt makeup (like doesn't leave the bathroom after a shower without full face) just to walk out of the bathroom in the morning and touch ups through the day and the hair is the same (her hair is straightish & a bit thicker than mine, not hard really..) but it's curled, coloured & product to within an inch of it's life and she's been like this for as long as anyone can remember. The difference between us is polar opposite & we both grew up with body issues for different reasons but try to explain the extremes & you simply can't. For whatever......
