Dheel Dam is an ancient dam located in Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan. This dam was built in 1911 by Sawai Madho Singh, the ruler of Jaipur.
The unique feature of this dam is that no gates have been constructed on it. When the water overflows, it simply cascades down the dam wall.
This water eventually flows into the Banas River.
The dam’s length is 1,670 meters, and its basin is part of the Ganga river system.
Before India’s independence, British residents and their representatives used to come here for hunting.
There is a village named Tapur near the dam, which is why it is also known as Tapur Dam.
The scenery here during the monsoon season is breathtaking.
The construction of the Dheel Dam is a significant marker in improving the lives of the local community. It plays a vital role in the process of water conservation and helps in securing local water resources. Additionally, it holds importance in the region's tourism, attracting visitors to this local attraction.
