yeah, i for one would like to know if it's just a rehashed LRS, maybe simplified manufacturing to lower costs, and whether the new stands are making the bulk of the sound difference, or if there is really a fundamental upgrade in design and parts (stand aside) that makes it worth a 25% premium. the optional premium stands are said to be taking a page from 3rd party stand maker designs that have been out for years. so i'm genuinely curious. also, there's a good deal of hype about the upcoming mini subwoofers that apparently are supposed to be pretty amazing.
@@kcr2365 i did get to hear LRS+ and it sounds pretty good based on the short time I had to listen to it. Couldn't compare it to LRS since I've never heard one. My only reference is 1.7i.
@@maheeinfy13 haven't had them together to compare, so can't really say.. i can say there are videos on youtube comparing LRS to the 0.7 and 1.7i. 1.7i seems to have it all, but is much bigger. 0.7 seems to be more detailed/analytical of the 3, based on what i could gather from videos. LRS+ does sound good though.
Also, going back to the controversial Buchart review. We had a pair for 6 weeks for our Speakerfest Event End of August. In my home the sound was "okay". Same at the Event. But at a members home who measured and adjusted EQ they sounded totally amazing. I was shocked to know how different the exact same pair could sound. Another club member ended up buying them.
Oh good. Another unboxing video... ;) In all fairness it is always good to see The Three Amigos and I regret that I haven't had a chance to come by lately.
Crossover looks same as my lrs from what I can see here. Manufacturer remains tight-lipped on what the actual changes were. I built mine into Oak frames. Very happy with the sound😊
the best value part, for the $650 LRS originals, perhaps, and the jury's out on the LRS+. But one thing seems to be in wide agreement - to get the best out of them, you need much, much more expensive components in the chain.. which negates the value part of it. one also needs to consider if they have room to properly space and position them to get the most out of them.
@@StefanUrkel The space issue does not negate them from being a good bargain. Even if you bought a good pair of box speakers you still would not power them with inferior components. Assume you use the same $5K to $10K integrated you still save on the speakers.
@@enniol8043 nobody said the space issue negates them from being a bargain.. it was just noted for those who think they will get the best out of them with limited space scenarios. they won't. and the argument is that with the LRS you really need expensive components to get the best out of them in a way that you may not with a different speaker. buyer should go in with open eyes about these two things.
Love to see you guys review the new McIntosh 2-channel Class D Power Amp which puts out 500 watts per channel into 8 ohms, and 800 watts per channel into 4 ohms. Is their attempt at making a great-sounding Class D amp actually successful? Thanks.
I swear at this price point I would rock these 100% but they need too much power. I play at low volume, I need to hear these in person. Maybe it'll be perfect
Magnepan speakers are a novelty at best. They draw so much power they destroy amplifiers, and the people that work there are not informed about the products enough to be answer questions about compatibility. Also, the sound is directional and don't film the room well. Buy SVS instead and save yourself the headache. These aren't "great," speakers by any measurement. The LRS plus are dogass.
Considering the expensive 3.7 measure really bad, with poor quality crossover parts, and have extreme low impedance, with some diaphram ringing issues, I doubt these will be better but worse quality.
Lol I love the chaotic unboxing videos all three of you as usual did not disappoint.😂😂😂👌👍🎧
lol thanks
Looking forward to your comparison video LRS + vs LRS.

@@StefanUrkelSo did we ever find out if LRS+ is a true upgrade

@@StefanUrkel what would you say is the main difference between LRS+ and 1.7i

I'm so glad you guys are into Magnepan. Great, detailed and honest reviews. I am into Magnepan myself.

that's great! good for the buyer!

lol
Had LRS 2 months, 1.7is 2 years Ampzilla. Now 20.7s with Coda TS v3 800w@4ohms
My LRS + didn’t have that tag next to the binding post. I got mine about a week ago. I guess you have a fresh pair. LOL
Crossover looks same as my lrs from what I can see here.

I got mine today in Honolulu by UPS
I love your editing!! =) hahaha..
thanks!
If these were the same price in Europe as in the States, I would buy them, but they are a pack MORE than TWICE the price here!!! 😮
Perhaps the best value in the HiFi world. Also ruins the narrative for those who complain that nothing affordable is sold.
Magnepan are not high sound quality performance loudspeakers, in fact their performance quality is bad.
@@ianjohnhorwood2605 The are VERY front-end dependent - Amp mainly

How many persons does it take to unpack? Three!
especially if it's the 3 of us!
I do not see the LRS listed as a product in the line on their site?
As they mentioned.
broth-Howdy?. wow~ what a splendid ! see you later.🤟
Interesting..
LRS = MMG , is the reality.
I thought there was bass speciality in lrs + dipole couldn’t see
It is a new kind of subwoofer, prototype.
should come with better feet, TV stands that fit are like 25 dollars..
Good stuff! 🇺🇦🇺🇸👊
thanks
They probably don't list the LRS/LRS+ because they consider it a sampler and gateway to their "real" line-up.
Beauties
