Drake Maye tells how Mack Brown got him to decommit from Alabama | Pro Football Talk | NFL on NBC
/ nflonnbc - Спорт
It was so nice of Chris Simms to share the spotlight with the person he's supposed to be interviewing.
It's so funny when Chris talks about himself as if he were a QB who mattered in the NFL, when the truth is he was irrelevant dogshit as an NFL QB.
@@kennykistler6735the dude was a good college qb and made it into the nfl something 99% of players don’t do.
@@kennykistler6735so making nfl isn’t good got it
Super likable dude who you can tell loves ball. I like his chances.
Little did he know just days later Simms would rank him 6th of all the drafts’ QBs hahaha
"Aw-shucks, jus'runnin' around- makin' throws..." the NFL needs this kid!
I'm a Patriots fan and I absolutely want us to draft Maye with the 3rd pick. Playing in NE (cold and outdoors) you have to be tall, athletic, have a strong arm and be tough. Drake has all of those qualities. The Pats will coach him up to deal with any current deficiencies (decision making, footwork) but what he brings to the table we absolutely need.
It's wild that he's the shortest of his siblings and he's still 6'4"
And the least athletic 😳
Why is it wild? One of them has to be the shortest.
Card carrying UNC fan here. Drake Maye is a superb quarterback. Future Hall of Fame ceiling.
Great talent and great competitor
Going to dream he becomes Vikings QB via trade with New England. He’s special talent at QB
He’s a mf that can throw the ball
This is gonna be the best qb class maybe ever
@@Joshlmb21 2020 class might rival it. Burrow, Herbert, Tua, Love, Hurts
@@haydennyagah706TUA LMAOOO

Did not expect his voice to sound like that
You didn’t expect a guy named Drake to sound like a southern dude?
Lol

Hope WSH gets him
Chris Simms made this about himself
No he didn’t he was just trying to relate to the kid chill tf out
Hope Patriots Get Him. Im Good With Daniels To Washington.
As a bills fan id hate this😭 i love me some drake maye and would love to root for him. Tho i do fear washington getting him hurt behind that oline :/
Can’t wait to have you in Washington, Drake
God I hope thats what we do. I think they're gonna make a play for Caleb which I wish they leave alone. Don't want Jaydens slim frame either. Can't do shit holding the clipboard on the sideline after surgery. Grab that 6'4 235 corn fed white boy from a Carolina sports family. Playin ball since the 1st grade. So loyal he turned down the mighty Crimson Tide and two separate 5 million dollar offers from SEC teams to transfer from UNC. His small issues can be cleaned up in no time.
@@hermitrob5481Amen brotha
Agree. Drake Maye is the guy. Idc what Chris Simms thinks@@hermitrob5481
@@hermitrob5481 lol no chance dude. Jayden fits Kingsbury's offense way more than drake. Jayden like a taller Kyler murray
if they draft Maye, Howell will be the week 1 starter. At least daniels can be a difference maker from day 1
@@hermitrob5481
super humble guy. washington’s franchise qb hopefully
Have y’all given up on Sam Howell yet? Wondering what the feelings of the fanbase are
Jayden is the better choice
Nah we want JD5
I was today years old when I found that NC hoops legend Luke Maye is his brother. I'm mindblown lol. Well cot damn, sports / athletics is def in his blood. Craaaazy
Drake Maye should have gone to Alabama. You can say school doesn't matter but it does in terms of the draft weight against someone like Jayden Daniels.
Stop talking he’s already a top 10 pick. Bryce young went to bama and sucks. Stop talking
@@GKA11111And where was Bryce Young drafted? #1 Overall. If he had gone to UNC, he would not have been the #1 overall pick. And how many seasons has he played? One. How many seasons does it take to evaluate an NFL QB? More than one. And where does he play? Carolina. Possibly the worst possible situation for a rookie QB. Tell me to stop talking when you have an argument.
Bryce young is on a horrible team, I wouldn’t fully count him out yet
@@lockedonlawyou realize he is going in the top 3 right? 😂
@@lockedonlaw defending Bryce young is the definition of insanity. He’s 5’9 and sucks. Stroud went to the horrible Texans and instantly made them a playoff team. Bryce went to Carolina and they actually got worse🤣
He’s basically Tom/gronk combined😂😂😂
Good Ol’ Country Boy! Loves life and the Lord.
Southern Piedmont Baby
Patriots 👍
I think it’s gonna happen tbh
The way Maye talks just makes me think he’s going to win multiple Super Bowls
Geez Chris, let the kid talk, quit interrupting 😩
I played Right Corner .... my coach knew NFL technique so he gave us the knowledge of technique and I already had a fearless way on the field.... no planting the feet but keep them chopping to lay the boom !!
He’ll look great in burgundy and gold.
This aged so well
Dude sounds like southern Justin Herbert

They had me in the first half
Chris: “Looks like you’re Tom Brady’s Replacement”…..
Mac Jones : 👀
He thanked the good lord he’s good with me
I’m a DC fan and I thought I wanted Maye but after hearing his voice… I think I’m good on him…. Gimme Daniels
Edit: I take that back… no one thought mahomes sounded the way he did and now he’s mahomes…. I’ll still take maye 🤞
That’s that Carolina Accent and grit
Chris sims loves talking about himself
I’m not meaning this in a mean way just an observation; he seems to have a shoulder tick
Was this before or after he had him listed as a 4th round talent lol
Qb with a good ole country accent.
The Will Levis of this draft
Bo Nix is the Will Levis of the draft
hope the pats get this kid
1:36 Maye says "Fuck that guy." Talking about Mack Brown
I doubt he said that but you never really know what he's saying half the time lol
How is he talking at two different speeds at the same time lmao
I don't see Drake Maye making plays with his legs in the NFL. And for every big time throw he makes a lot of errant throws. Yes he has talent but if he hasn't figured out how to dominate the college game, what makes you think he'll dominate the NFL game?
This dude has all the Giants qualities but not sure if that’s good or Bad. Want to see him in competitive environment
If we can get him, I think Daboll can turn him into a beast, Josh Allen-esque

How can the second best QB in the Acc be the Number 2 overall pick!
Pats should draft him - let him sit a year
It’s down to patriots commanders or broncos if they move up. I can’t see him on any other team
He sounds like Larry bird in winning time
Really! Tell me please, what has he won??
@@Tiger4life1965what have any of the qbs besides JJ won besides personal accolades. Also mahomes allen Jackson Herbert never won jack in college.
@@lancey8366 You had to state “except” in order to change the narrative. Personal accomplishments in a team sports indicates that your value was superior to others. Jordan Travis was the most valuable player/ qb in the ACC, which is why his team won the Acc and left out of playoffs after his injury despite being undefeated.

I hope the kid falls to NE. Then I hope Wolf is smart enough to draft the kid and not trade back.
He keeps twitching his shoulders

Not acknowledging his body mechanics issues is a major red flag for me otherwise he sounds good. I'm worried he doesn't want to learn to throw differently.
Agree on that!
Exactly, on Jayden’s interview he acknowledged exactly where his flaws were and how he worked on them and got better.
@@som3839 1000% "I don't want anybody to think I'm too good to learn" basically. Meanwhile Maye is like "Yeah man I'm the best this is just how I throw" and I'm like..."Dude...no...."
He's a 2nd round pick at best after that imo lol. I wanted to like Maye and have him prove me wrong but now that's impossible. He's the biggest red flag in the draft for that one. He's too young to pretend he's got anything down when he has the absolute worst mechanics out of all the top prospects at qb. Now I know he thinks like a primitive man and "if it's not broke don't fix it" seems to be his motto based on his interview.
The craziest part is some people tried to twist that interview into making him sound the best when his stock objectively plummeted after Mccarthy sounded much better in his interview.
Personally I think Mccarthy deserves to be drafted over Maye now, same with Bo Nix. Maye can go somewhere between them and the top of the 2nd round/end of the 1st when they take Penix. I still like Penix more, though. All of them are going to be better day 1 starters than Maye who has effectively proven he's not ready to lead a team to anywhere yet. His agenda should only consist of holding a clipboard behind a qb like Flacco/Cousins. Maye is NOT a day 1 starter by any stretch of the imagination, thankfully even the staunchest Maye fans are starting to see it now, however. He's a project pick who doesn't want to learn anything new right now...meh. Maye needs hazed like hell before he'll mature any. I remember Sam Howell was just as idiotic and cocky coming in. UNC inflates their qb's egos way too much, full of hot air. They should know better, their footwork is awful. Maye leans on his arm instead of his hips way too often and mistakes are made because of it.
It's like me pretending I don't need to use my hips to drive a frisbee in frisbee golf. Some "Analysts" think he can do it without his legs. It's hilarious who they'll allow to be scouts these days. 99.99% of them aren't qualified imo. Maye has a big arm but it's meaningless without proper techniques...and a willingness to learn is the most important. If you don't want to learn, you're not going to learn a damn thing. If he doesn't change his tune by next interview he's officially a bust waiting to happen. Right now I project Rattler to have more success than he does until further notice. Maye's lack of self-awareness is a glaring issue and he's clearly too green/baby to notice.
@@maskcollector6949 that’s ok Patriots will draft him sit him on the bench for a year mechanical problem can be solved, his only 21 years old.
@@billshun3963 Behind Flacco or Cousins, 1000%. That's a solid option to me. I'm excited to see Flacco play again, anyways. He's been the buzz as of today but I still think Flacco might end up going to the 49ers or somewhere to contend for a SB.
COMMANDER
Tourette syndrome? He has a tic. I am not saying it is a bad thing, but it is something I notice. He kills it on the field though.
This is an awkward watch knowing that after the interview Simms spends the next month trashing Maye and calling him the 6th best QB in the draft.
What’s up with his posture and general comportment? 😕
This guy’s gonna come in and lead an NFL locker room of grown ass dudes?! He strikes me as a really young guy who absolutely needs to sit and learn.
Drake Maye needs to learn how to annunciate his words man geez sometimes you can’t even understand him. He needs to open his mouth
Love how Simms waits til after he interviewed Maye to totally trash him with his draft board. Hope Simms gets fired for this and his Zach Wilson ovulating last year.
I like me a ole country deep voice QB to be on my team 🤣🤣🤣...you dont get too many of those
Simms says yea me too, in 7th grade my arm was different, lol, its not about you or your awful nfl career
Man... when he talks he reminds me sooo much of Peyton Manning. Slight draw, knows his stuff. Athletic fam. Pretty cool.
The dude looks like he's 16.
Yeah! But nothing wrong with that.
It’s less the way he looks than the way he carries himself. Super young guy.
Sit up straight, young man! This whole thing is a job interview. Some of it is just youth and not being able to help just being a really young guy but you can control your posture.
