Wonderboy has phenomenal control.
I like the heavy breathing at the 3rd kick combo. It's like the beginning of the new Batman movie.
The heavy breathing makes the video 10x more realistic
Camera guy idling like a Frenchie
He’s not twilight anymore, he’s Batman
Lmao. The evolution is wild
5:11 start to hear darth Vader !????
Love those leg combos!! I’m so glad me and my husband got to catch you and Sweet T up at the UFC X while you were going to your autograph session, even though it was just a few seconds you and your bother made us very happy :)
One of my favorite technique Tuesday's!!
I love learning everyone's favorite combo's! 💜
You have magnificent control over your weapons WB! Love watching you work with the next generation! Great vid this week!
6:47. Right on. And a lot of people assume that "hurting" someone means having to knock them out cold or that it should be a fight-ending shot but a lot of the times, all you gotta do is catch your opponent's attention. Just land it, have their brains shake a little bit in there and they'll disengage and question their next move/s. Small wins that turn tide of the fight into your favor.
That's exactly how sparring should be, imo. My sensei has a great lead leg side/rear kick, more than once he's caught me when I'm coming forward and my hands are up. The next day I felt some pain in my abdomen and I couldn't figure it out until I remembered 🤪
Man, love to see these young dudes throwing down on these videos. Between that, and all the genuine support and tips shared in these comment sections, the future of the martial art and sport fighting community is looking bright.
Another banger from Stephen🤙🏾Your vids always give me great ideas for my karate to use when I go to kickboxing, keep em coming please.
Such good info. Great content WB!!!
That last one is definitely something im going to start drilling. It's the first thing I've seen that addresses when someone gets outside the lead leg efficiently.
Ye that last technique is gold
love seeing some of the light contact style techniques getting some love. You can definetely KO people with the sidekick combo's, it's just not something you master first day in the gym like a heavy cross.
Love you man, keep it up
Love these videos!
The tireur who is my Savate teacher calls this "conditioning". You are conditioning your opponent to expect something and once you feel they think they know what's coming you switch it up. Great tips on the jumping switch kick.
I would just call it strategy ^^
It should be used right from the bat.. throw medium kicks over and over from the start, then LOOK down to the opponents legs and kick high... ALWAYS works.. (almost always atleast) xD
Totally different definition of conditioning than I have LOL
Aw Stephen is so genuine and humble letting others shine too 🫶🏻 love to see it 🤍
Hell yeah love this!!
Stephen learning some speed from these point fighting boys! A sensei is never too old to learn!!!! 🙌🏻
Wow early! Keep up these videos man‼️
Love this!!! Time to practice!
Loving it!!!
Awesome video guys!
5:12 Trent sounding like E.T. when he goes trick or treating with Elliott 🤣
Good training man !!
Wow I love everyone sharing a cool combo so cool! :D thanks guys!
Met you at XMMA the other day and totally blanked! WANTED to tell you I’m waiting on you to go into the Hall of Fame, I love your specialist fighting style, and I love what you’re doing with the kids in your gym! Me and my son have watched you for years! He does traditional Japanese Jujitsu, Muay Thai, MMA and wrestling. We live about an hour from Simpsonville and I’ve actually called your gym about privates but they weren’t offered as my son has a build similar to yours and I think pointers from you would be good for his game. Anyway THANK YOU FOR GIVING BOYS A NICE GUY TO LOOK UP TO!
Doesn't get no better watching the best SC fighter and a couple of good dudes
The level of balance and control is off da chain in this video!
YAY! Wonderman!
I'm an 80s TKD guy so you and other kick heavy martial artists are my favorite. Always rooting for my kickers.
I have a question since I just saw you do an axe kick in the intro to this video; why don't we see axe kicks in modern mma? I recently watched an old Jones fight and saw him try two or 3 but he is the only fighter I can recall trying one in a fight.
I’ve been practicing the side kick to a roundhouse to the head that you always do and I’ve been nailing it at practice very tricky move ! (P.s. on my channel I have a pretty sick montage of you ;)
3rd clip with Twilight is trough Serial Killer POV
*Breathing accelerates*
You the best martial artist
Hope your all doing well wb love the vids and fights ✌️
That first one is my favorite lead kick combo. I practice capoeira currently and it's called fente de martelo.
Every time I throw it people always lean into it trying to move away from the first one
I think the only difference is I don't kick for the leg it's more of a fake roundhouse to backleg roundhouse.
I think I'll play around with the low kick more to feel it out
I practice muay thai and I also like to use something like a fake leadleg rounhouse to a backleg roundhouse. I feel that leg kicks don't always make your opponent bring their hands down (they don't actually need it, they just need to check the kick), but a fake roundhouse to the body or head can make them try to block it with their forearms/hands or even catch it.
Set ups, nice!!
Love your videos dude !!! Regards from Spain🏖🏜❤
Hey Mr. Thompson can you please do a video on getting good at kicking with your non-dominant leg? Since my left leg is the weaker one i tend to kick with my right leg.
i've been practicing the lead leg front kick/step into rear high round. (basically using the front kick do gain height for the roundhouse) mostly because my opponents tend to try a lot to grab the leg so they open the head.
also the fake lead leg low kick into a rearleg roundhouse to any height leg, torso or head but mostly to the leg because they don't know where to check after getting hit 2-3 times by this
Technique Tuesday on a Wednesday, yay!
Chun li is proud of you guys.
Can you please make a video on exercise that you do so that anyone can set up kicks like these, please
Im a South-Paw, and I'm better with my lead leg. I only use my back/left leg for a liver kick or a head kick...maybe a rear teep as well. Cool Stuff WB!! 🤙
That last one was nasty. So sneaky. I could see that catching soooo many people off guard.
Awesome
Stephen, how do you manage to deliver lines after doing a bunch of explosive movements its impossible!!
Nice to see you getting theses young guys in your video. They’re a little too WWE promo. But they’re screen presents or swagger will come. Great video.
I like doing a couple hook kicks to the head to get them to block the strikes then a hook kick into a side kick to the body.
I was just watching a video of Bas Rutten doing that, but he used the hand. He would use the open hand like a big right hook, open hand so you get the maximum reach and you throw that a couple times to distract. Then the next time they bring their hands up to block, you follow with a roundhouse into their side at the same time, with the leg on the same side as the hand because your weight shift is loading up on that same side.
@@kbanghart it’s conditioning.
Try a snap , ax kick. First low but not touch ground then drop the ax
the technique is surprisingly more understandable at x2 speed
Stephen my boy Alex just moved out there from Chicago and you sparred, it would be dope to get him in a video!
Oooooooooooh that was close 😮
please do a rarely seen/difficult kick to punch combo :0)
On the time
🔥🔥🔥
Even his leg is so kind that it won't hit the boy..1:56
So basically point style modern tkd or foot fencing can still hurt you ? Cause that's how they fight
Bro you should be in Dagestan training with the wrestlers
nice
Any tips on putting strength on your lead leg or switch kick? I never throw my lead leg other than the low kick in sparring… and the whole reason why I started mma from boxing few years ago is because I saw how cool a power switch kick looked 😂 mines like a floppy ballon slapping
Borrowing from Sensei Seth’s appearances in kicking tips videos on other channels, as well as my own experience-a lot of power will actually come from the standing leg being a big part of the equation.
Make sure your hips are forward of your standing foot, and drive off the ground with it to get that extra power (play around with this, because you can overdo it). Plus, if you want, try some pivots on the ball of your foot as you throw the kick (especially if your stance isn’t as bladed, but be aware of your ankle strength). It’s a few degrees less stable than already having your foot turned with the heel to the opponent as you chamber, but it can help the roundhouse and side kick especially (a little trickier with the hook kick, but doable).
Lead leg kicking with a more square stance a la Muay Thai isn’t a whole lot different in terms of using the standing leg/foot and hips-but the angles change, so your body mechanics aren’t one-to-one comparable.
Regardless, it’s best to remember that the kick is a full-body movement, so using the full structure of your lower body will help to give you that power you seek.
Hope this helps!
@@jonharker9028 I’ll try it today 😂 thanks
1:55 woh 😯😯😯
hello from algeria.OSS
Y'all need to stop having Trent blow up pool toys while on camera😂. Seriously though, love these combos and the subtle trickery as well
I’m waiting for someone to say-I will try this on my grandma
hey can you cover spinning shit so i can get more ninja!!! thx
I stretch daily & practice my kicks daily fir about 2 years now. I can confidently say i have basically the exact same hip flexibility & roundkicks to the head still feel absolutely awful. How many centuries more of this until i start looking like i know what im doing?
Perhaps join a kickboxing gym? I hope I don’t hit the same plateau but I’ve been going hard for 6 months and my goals are the same as yours. Gabriel Varga also has some great stuff, and you can zoom lessons with him.
You probably force the stretch, you should get in position and let gravity do the work
Hi there. Hopefully this is helpful to you.. I totally understand this frustration having experienced returning to TKD after 24 years. My advice is to spend a little time outside of strictly martial arts videos gathering some info about your physiology. Specifically when it comes to stretching effectively and strengthening the muscles that relate to specific kicks. For example I struggle with open splits which effects my side kick so I found that I need to push up with my hands on the ground to make room for the hip joints to be open enough to get a deeper stretch. Combine this with the idea that if you relax, get into the deepest stretch you can, tighten the leg muscles for a few seconds, then repeat (this will likely show instant improvement). Finally practice holding the sidekick extended regularly with your hands up in the proper position so you strengthen the required muscles to kick high. Guaranteed you will see an improvement if you keep these details in mind. Use this logic for other kicks.
Maybe expand the approach? different arts throw kicks different. I don’t know what exactly you practice, but I’m sure you will nail that roundhouse 🦍
Do you warm up enough?
Hey Stephen, did you cut some weight or it's just my impression? Are you preparing for something awesome we should know about? :)
Awesome combos! Thankyou Sir!
Am I the only one who noticed the heavy breathing at 05 : 40 . The 3rd Kick combo
When's WB fighting again :{

Was your man smelling the camera @5:10? hahaha

Cameraman is breathing too loud
Nice. But you cannot do it against everyone... And you should be really athletic to do so... Learn but stay wise.
First??? Yay!
I thought it was finally my opportunity to be first
You're fighting style is too unique to steal moves from lol, But i get the fundimentals of what you are teaching, it ain't rex kwando i'll tell ya that.
Change your hairstyle, shaving thé side doesnt work anymore.
I need to develop my hips so I don’t pull anything lol I have been close a few times now, but I won’t let that stop me! 🥋🔥 🦵
