    Add a barb fitting to the gas tank for the return line.

  • @richlucasjr9116
    @richlucasjr9116 5 років тому +1

    Use brass barb with a threaded male end and drill right next to the cap. Use some plumbers tape and make sure that your male threaded end is tapered. Good luck that should work for you. Also put a peice of thin rubber between tank and pump

    I'd definitely replace the oil filter the paper element turns to dust if left in for too many years!

    You need to run actual fuel line. Those are more for vacuum hoses

  • @NastyMoto

    Love the build progress! Keep grinding Migs! As far as the return line, I would personally drill a hole towards the top of the gas tank and JB weld a fitting to accept that size of hose. I think drilling it into the cap would cause problems in the future.

      The gasoline will eat away at the jb weld

      Seth Krahn from what I’ve tested jb will hold up to gasoline. I’ve used it on gas tanks and it’s still holding fine

      Seth Krahn In some cases yes but I just made a gas tank out of a aluminium water bottle with JB weld and it’s holding up great, I think it just needs to be mixed right and the surfaces need good prep

    You need a bigger fuel tank man!! And get some decent fuel line. By the time you fill up all that fuel line your probably down half a tank. Lol 4 carbs use.more fuel than you think

    G'day Migs I hope your using the correct motor oil for motorcycles if you use friction modified oil , your clutch will slip when under load . For the tank you should
    Get a nut riveting tool , this will make it so you can , drill the top of the tank then put the threaded rivet in then tighten by squeezing the handles together this will seal it's self ,then get a threaded barb with a 90% bend the size you need for your fuel line this should help you . Hey I'm glad you are asking questions things will run smoother when you do , make sure you read all the comments, that way you can understand what we are trying to advise you to do. We are here to help !

    • @malcolmdavis506
      @malcolmdavis506 5 років тому

      G'day mate yeah I suggested he should make the shifter with a pivot point at the top of the shifter leaver and one at the other end where the gear leaver is .
      Unsure if that's on the list , for the return line use a riveting tool and a 90%

    Also check the inside of the hose your planing on using for your naca ducts. It has to be smooth. if it's ribbed in the inside (And probably is) It will be very restrictive for that application and flow little or no air. Since the pressure is very limited.

  • @rickjames4630

    Run a tee fitting before the fuel pump and run the return line to it. Also make sure the fuel lines have slack they don’t need to be tight that’s just asking for them to eventually come loose.

  • @Dan_Kornfeld

    Drain the fuel tank, drill a hole, and mount a compression fitting (something with a gasket tp prevent leaks). You might even be able to use an old petcock valve.

    people have been saying ffrom day 1 to get a jumper pack. Just imagine conecting a jumper pack and starting the go kart or bike vs charging a battery for 4-6 hours, and then maybe starting it. Use your head and be smart here.

  • @nickbarnum2450
    @nickbarnum2450 5 років тому

    Drill a hole in the black part of the tank, and thread a brass nipple into the hole, so then the gas line can be attached to it

  • @challeis1
    @challeis1 5 років тому +1

    Plz use proper fuel line 😟, also get a bigger tank.
    You could put a nipple on the tank top and have your return line attached to it.
    Make sure you use Wet clutch oil if it's not already and replace the oil filter now, if the old ones been sitting that long it'll bugger up all your hard work.
    Get a jumper pack, half your time is spent charging a battery 👌

  • @simonallan9941
    @simonallan9941 5 років тому

    Hey there awesome progress bro 🤗 I'm not trying to be a smart ass but did you remember to fully re tighten up the oil drain bung ? you would be very surprised at how many people do 😲 just put it back by hand just to stop it dripping while they checkout the oil or empty the oil tray when they were originally going to let it continue dripping overnight to get out the real thick gunge/buildup 😉 25 years ago a mate did it with a Honda just like mine and it fell out during a ride 🙄 the bike still run being a Honda but was beyond repair and I always leave the bung in the socket so I will never actually replace it without using the socket and tighten it up completely 🤗 great job and show thank you

    You can drill a hole in the side of the gas tank and put a valve stem in and take out the valve core i belive standard fuel hose is the righ size to hose clamp to the valve stem and that could be your return line thats what i would do

    I would recommend a new filter, the oil might not look extremely bad I personally would recommend it to get more life out of this engine. I think you should let it sit and run for about 20-30 min and drain that oil that you just put in so you can clear out all the old mucky oil and throw on a new filter and put some full synthetic 10w-40 In with a new filter that is meant for full synthetic and let it sit and run for 10 min or so with the new oil then after 3,000 miles replace the oil again but keep it full synthetic, once you switch to full synthetic you don’t want to switch back and forth between regular and synthetic. That’s what I recommend for a clean flush out of that old gross oil. :)

    the pressure regulator is has fuel in line out and return is they a vacume pipe needed to manifold to know when to regulate or is it just like an air compresser would use with the problem you had i wounder if that the problem or maybe the fuel pump is not upto it another idea is a fuel pump for a motor cycle they have a live a neg and a feed wire to the live wire of coil number one to know when to pump and this is how they regulate when the engine was running i could see air traverling up the feed to the carbs so something is not set right and drawing in air

    LOL thats a dead head holley style regulator not a bypass regulator. It has one inlet and 2 outlets . Commonly used on carbs with 2 float bowels. It is not good for low volume because once it shuts the flow it dead heads the pump. You maybe able to rig up one outlet as a leak to avoid dead heading the pump but you will give up to much volume during high fuel demand. Invest in a bypass regulator or try it with no regulator. Those cheap inline pumps come in different pressures maybe find one with 3-4 psi.

    just plug the return line its not needed, i have run the same setup on a cb750 when i ran alcohol, also you bought the wrong pump, it makes to much pressure, the right pump doesn't need a regulator, but having said that you don't need a pump, just mount a gas tank above the engine, the needle and seat in your carbs are for gravity feed.

      Yes , nothing like clutch slip using friction modified oils , bike oils for bikes , I learnt this the hard way , used the wrong oil on my Vtx 1300 and stuffed the clutch plates , that one cost me quite a bit because I was on a road trip when I did it , had to find a Bike shop that had the parts on the shelf , and in Australia that's not an easy thing to do , I had to go 150 miles out of my way ,which isn't that far really , Oz is a big place and Honda dealers are far and few between . I did the swap in a motel car park with minimal tools the motel owner had ,he was a big help though running around getting parts when I needed them . There are still nice helpful people out there .
