I tend to focus more on lines and learn which courses I could cut through traffic from the sides. It’s strategy but I’ll still end up hitting into traffic at the final corners of the race against high grade players😅

I think the kid in your story is terrible in general from poor lining to bad execution of Brake Blocking strategy. I raced a lot of aggressive players on par/better than me in terms of lining & blocking/counterattacks.

Before I played this game, I was one of those douchebags who wants FIA rules to get imposed in WMMT. Of course that's not possible. On the other side, that was the time when I got exposed to some guys' frustration due to excessive slamming and broken hardwares and such. I no longer have that urge. WMMT is WMMT. iRacing is iRacing. NFS Carbon is NFS Carbon. GTR2 is GTR2. I no longer expect clean as f racing from WMMT the way I race in GTR2. Contact is normal and acceptable. The only thing I want to ask from the playerbase is, please be civil. Those hardware are expensive and meant for everyone to play, not just you. Don't break those hardwares. Everyone who plays there wants to play with fully functioning, normal hardware. OR, if you really want to slam excessively as hard and as often as you want, then go get yourself a Logitech or PXN or Leo Bodnar wheel or something.
Boost off/Handicap off: WMMT - Handicap system to help players catch up after an error is turned off. Works when 2 players hold the brakes after track is selected until the race loads, boost off flashes on car roster prior to race start.
I mean in real battle scenario, you still need LINE to win a race (I mean vs FT Players not some low-level story or GUEST). Slam/Block only will get you far but if you bump every corner and every traffic you probably wont make it far against player who know how to line and block. by the end of the day its still racing game, racing line is still the core of it (hence why people do TA) slam/blocking are just the unique quirk what make this game so fun, as long they don't broke the machine x.x
I agree, even in high level play, you still need lining to do well. Hakone is a good example where players MUST have adequate lines to keep up or risk falling behind by crashing a lot.
That's why its important to do TA to learn a map, improve your lines so you drive without messing up too many times. + brake block / soft block & counter when necessary.
My point is you can't use Perfect TA lines in boost off race because of traffic (ex. Hakone). People expect perfect lining since boost off is meant to be Maxi's clean race meta.
But at the end of day, lining is crucial to win and so is adapting to situations regardless of VS metas - FFAs, 1v1s, 2v2s (block & run) / Boost off (adapt lines to traffic e.g).
Remember, WMMT is an ARCADE racer, not simulator. Wangan's clean racing is different than sim/simcade racing.
Tbh I don’t mind the bumping and blocking in WMMT, but damaging the machine is the thing I’d want to fully avoid
Agreed. Excessively slamming, shifting hard, tap buttons hard or stepping on pedals with force is a massive don't for any player.

In most racing games
Its bad etiquette to ram into people but this game lets us do that and have no shame😂

Pressuring rivals by slaloming through traffic is an effective counter strat when done right.
real fact right here, I also see PABST so pro 🙏

As some would put it: Slam when necessary, don't slam excessively 😂

Racing lines are still important in VS Battles along with the ability to block and counter.
Like IMO you need to learn each map not to necessarily become best at them but to be able to understand them enough to drive without too much error.

By "boost off" did you mean "handicap off"?
Yes. Boost off is an alternate term for Handicap Off. The term derived from IDAS3's boost off racing.
I'm sorry but I haven't live so long in the IDAS3 era, what's boost off/handicap off means, is it something like restricting opponent's drive?
Boost off/Handicap off:
WMMT - Handicap system to help players catch up after an error is turned off. Activated when all step on brakes during time/bgm selection, Go All Out flashes on roster screen before race start.
