can't listen to tull now without martin, fabulous player + personality.
I went to a school dance in 1971 (I was 15). The local band, Smoketree, played a cover of
"With You There To Help Me". Went out the next days and bought "Benefit".
Never looked back. Favorite band for 50 Years!!
Same age. 56….born. The first four albums we heard at school. Was my favorite band at that time. Later Wishbone Ash….
Oh, these old times gone but memory is still nice.
Benefit is my favorite Tull album. Saw their thick as a brick tour here in Buffalo New York. It was 71 or 72 gentle giant opened. Huge fan ever since.
Absolutely! When you're that age {me too 15} first impressions set you on a path, although you don't have to stay on it. I saw YES on the 22nd of Dec 1970 in Shrewsbury so that sort of set my prog rock course although I'd already heard 'This Was' at my mates house when we used to go through his big brothers record collection.
Wow!!! Benefit was my intro into all things Tull. Saw them many times since TAAB on. Looking to see Martin Barre come to Chicago area with this incarnation. Very impressive already. All hope is not lost. This band does it for me!
Martin Lancelot Barre. What a cool name for a British guitar god. What a cool name period. He really got better with time. Surpassed many of his fellow guitarists from his generation.
What a great show! The singer was close enough without mimicking Ian. Well done and great band, especially with Clive Bunker in the mix. Barre, well, he's a legend and one of the most underrated guitarist ever...period.
It should be mentioned here that one of the drummers is original Tull drummer Clive Bunker and the keyboardist is Dee Palmer, Tull keyboardist on Songs From The Wood, Heavy Horses, & Stormwatch. Dee also did all of the orchestral arrangement on every Tull album up thru Stormwatch.
Yes I was wondering about her, so thank you for writing that.
A very good choise for the band then.
@@ytusersumone And Dee was once a he ! David Dee Palmer.
Would love it if Martin could get John Evan to come out of retirement and do a gig or two some day. Aside from Ian and Martin (and perhaps Jeffrey in his zebra getup), John was one of the most visually distinct members of the band from their heyday with his ice cram man outfit and crazy grinning.
@@AK99581 think John can't play now sadly due to arthritus, he was tremendous in his day
Palmer WAS PROG for Tull!!!
Clive Bunker is still a fantastic drummer.
one of the worlds best guitarists...... jut missing that flute..
he plays what he's told. that's why this sucks
@@booneswinehart5855 BIG TIME, it sounds like a pub band who are drunk.
You fall on your head ?
@@booneswinehart5855 ? It's his band!
@@ianwilkinson4602 - and the vocals…BAD.
Love the song choices. Ian wouldn't live in the past with all the great tunes from the first three lps. Loved hearing the tunes that put Jethro Tull firmly on my radar back in 1968-9
Very well done ! As a Tull fan,I would go to a Martin show before Ian.I like the addition of Clive, Dee,and the ladies, not to mention the rest of the band.
Going to see Martin + band, Clive and Dee this weekend, looking forward to it...Dan Crisp, the front man, seems to have adopted Ian's mannerisms and range pretty well as unfortunately Ian cant hit the highs anymore...always a great writer, acoustic guitarist, and flutist tho. Looks like Martin still has his chops and amazing energy for his years, nice to see and hear. Saw Tull many times in the 70's so this band should be fantastic to see at the small intimate Narrows Center in MA.
Great to see Clive behind that drum kit!!
Martin Barre is still my favorite rock guitarist in the world!
Martin is still just phenomenal
Pure progressive rock , excellent Martin one of the best guitarist ever existed .
Just saw them front row last night in Arlington, TX. Crisp was spot on except when his guitar strap broke and he didn't miss a beat singing. So many of Ian characteristics and great job with his singing...great guitarist as well. Of course Martin is so talented. What great guitaists I saw!!! Full of energy and humor. Fabulous show!
Last show I saw before the Pandemic in São Paulo, Brazil, March 2020. Spectacular, sensational. Martin Barre is of extreme professionalism. Flawless show!!!
Return to Brazil Martin Barre!!!
ABSOLUTELY GREAT MUSICIAN SAW THEM LAST NIGHT I M STILL SHAKEN
Fabulous - cant wait for gigs to start up again so I can travel to see such talent!
Thanks! I was the video narrator. It's great to finally catch a bit of my stuff. LOL
Please power on. We can't get enough. Thanks Martin and Band Love you all.
73 years old and still has that same infectious energy ! What a great guitarist and a very personable guy.
Wonderful concert, all musicians of Tull's history remembered, 👏 beautifully performed
Martin Barre - one of the most unterrated Guitar Players of all times !
That was fabulous thank you, really enjoyed the music and performance
Jethro Tull lives in this music, dummies!
And he happened to be Scottish! Prove me wrong.
Martin's band is so much better today than they were when this was recorded. you just wouldn't even believe it, how good they are now.
A great show from Martin and his band as always! My only complaint is the camera operators. They didn't show Martin enough, especially during his solos. However I am glad Becca Langsford and Alex Hart got a lot of camera time because they are quite nice to look at lol.
G E I L gespielt. Toll die Tull ohne ihren Egomanen zu sehen. Richtig erholsam.
Martín, has hecho un nuevo tull Jethro, brillante, furioso y amable. gracias de Argentina.
I cannot thank You enough. Very, very Cool, indeed. I appreciate. :)
Love Martin's playing. Love Tull. All I can say is: "Get that up ya, Florian...!"😆
Shepherd's Chapel Network !!!!!!! Pastor Murray is an Anointed Servant of GOD who teaches the Word of GOD with Authority!!!!!!!
All kinds of excellent.
Finally, what would Jethro Tull be like with two guitars !!
And without a flute!
The first 5 lps?! Also Martin plays flute so my question is....why not here?
@@plantfeeder6677 maybe he doesn’t want to remember Ian. This egomaniac monster. Have you seen DVDs from JT? Terrible!
Music is great but Ian is mostly the only person filmed. Terrible!
@@thommyh.4492 Yes Ian Anderson IS Jethro Tull. It's hard not to focus on the crazy looking freak on stage. I certainly am no fan of his decision to fire Glenn Cornick. He did write some very original and unique stuff in their first 5 lps though. The rest not so much. But their live shows I always thought were entertaining except for the Passion Play tour....that sucked. Got dragged to two other shows after that. Both thankfully better because he stopped playing crap from Passion Play
Delighted to find this, the new IA cd has encouraged me to look more closely at what Martin is doing, great music.
The most tull you’ll you’ll see in the same room right now. If theyre still going I might check ‘em out. Haven’t seen tull since ‘95…
What a brilliant concert
Thank you from your humble video background narrator. Cheers from Canada.
Fenomenal, mesmo sem a voz, flauta e gaita do Ian Anderson! Para mim, M. Barre é um dos maiores guitarristas do rock, blues e folk.🎼🎸
I love the song Aqualung. It’s played so fantastic. The singer meets the mood and Martin plays as he was 25. fantastic.
I love the multi-media with live presentation! "All kinds of excellence"! Good to see you again!
Einfach geil.
What a pleasure to hear this songs with proper singer and vocals after almost 40 years of unlistenable strained vocals!
A few years back Ian did a "Thick as a Brick" anniversary tour and had a vocalist do 90% of the singing and it was fantastic! He still got the spotlight on all the flute solos. He should stick with that format.
He is not a very good vocalist. Martin needs to step it up.
@@MyVeryHappyDay I don't agree, I think vocalist is fine.
@@fastrelief - I don’t agree. He is forced and not enjoyable. Disappointing because I love the music and arrangements. Great band, sucky vocals.
@@MyVeryHappyDay That's just your opinion. Being used to Ian's awful vocals I find these vocals a breath of fresh air. I do think he does a fine job.
Benefit for me was the great Jethro Tull album.
I like the video screen stuff but, not enough of the band. Hardly any on Martin. Really bad camera operators. WTF?
Agree.

I think the most important musician is the drummer, because drumming changes for every decade. Original drummer wow.
This is my first time watching this band performing, I like the vocalist, he look cool, great vocal and unique style. Love the new style of Song for Jeffrey xD
Matin has a great new band!!
Historic.
I am not a Jethro Tull fan,but this was AMAZING...Really Great!!!!!!
Opening tune is Fn sick!!!! After that it gets better.
Have the crowd been handed out Valium?
Jethro Tull at thier best
Great!!!
Too much indistinct film and not enough focus on the performers Bunker et al and Martin Barre in particular playing his beautiful PRS….
Nice imitation of Ian Anderson Voice
But All hail Ian! All this amazing music came out of Ian's mind!
Yes true but Martin John Glen Barrie Clive and Dave arranged and developed it
Martin Barre wrote many musical interludes, notably the rock into to Minstrel in the Gallery.
Read interviews with some of the old members, not everything came from Ian's mind, he had plenty of help from the likes of Martin Barre, John Evan, Dave Palmer, etc. The way it usually worked was Ian would come to the band with a bare bones song (usually just acoustic guitar and lyrics/melody), and then the entire band would sit down and develop the songs, including adding their own musical bits and pieces into it. It's true that Ian was the spark that lit the fire and should always be considered first among equals in Jethro Tull, but the music would not have been the same without the input from the other guys.
@@AK99581 Well said, the band certainly developed and arranged a lot of the music, particularly the Thick as a Brick, Passion Play Warchild era. Reckon nearly 100% of the lyrics were Andersons though.
Yes .... despite the greatness of the others in this great concert.....don’t forget Ian. Tull was more than good musicianship. Martin is still one of the all time best!
I'm the old rocker 🤘
Music licensing info is incorrect. This is To Cry You A Song, not War Child.
No song list ..
w00t! 600!
Would anyone share the name of the musicians???
Clive Bunker and Darby Todd on drums; Dan Crisp on guitar and vocals; Dee Palmer on keyboards; Alan Thomson on bass; Martin Barre on guitars; Alex Hart & Becca Langsford (vocals & on whatever)
So much better that Ian's shows have been of late. A much more powerful sound. The vocals could be better, but still stronger than Ian's voice of late.
Poor old Martin, runner-up in the intro to JETHRO TULL....Hahahahahaha. Still and all sounding excellent here
Tony Iommi Guitarist of Black Sabbath was impress of Martin solo in Aqualung
Jimmy Page was in the studio when he recorded the solo.
Do they still have a flute player? I don't see one but I haven't listened to the whole thing yet. Was my favourite part of Tull. ❤
Dan's GTR is mimicing the flute using EFXOR at least it seams to me 😀
@@Jermeister12 oh OK, thanks very much. That explains it. The sound is there, but I don't see a flautist.
@@robynzelickson6164 Robyn I did not say anything about being a flautist .I said he's mimicing the flute with his GTR playing . Maybe I'm wrong 😀.
@@Jermeister12 sorry for the confusion. I was hoping that there was a flautist but I guess there isn't one. Just was asking.
@@robynzelickson6164 Actually Robyn it isn't this Video where I noticed it . There was another one that I noticed it in 😀
I'm no music student just an old crusty dude from Ga😄😄Who has been listening to these songs FOREVER.😀😀
If they just got Paul Forrest to do the vocals, this would be absolutely perfect!
Ian is the One.

Got love seeing Dee being able to play tull songs while being her true self :)
That means a lot, coming from someone named Taco Facefart.
@@MyVeryHappyDay very true :)
Meus parabéns eu gostei muito do seu canal e da música eu também tenho um canal de rock no UA-cam que falo sobre discos de vinil cds e dvds de rock
Do not adjust your TV that is not Rick Wakeman
i cant listen to it without ian... although the music is really good. atleast this should have been karaoke style so i could SING INSTEAD!
Sounds Great.
Sadly Ian threw him out because on Howard Stern he was pointing his guitar towards a Jupiter Satellite. Anyway poor Ian’s loss, as he is severely straining on the vocals arena.
Broadsword Baby !
Catfish Rising Stormwatch
I was there at the best !
If you need the flute parts I Am now available.
Under Wraps !
Nice tight band. Martin should hire someone who can sing.
I lost count how many times could the editor cut *away* from Martin riffing only to focus on another player, or that god-awful B roll. Great music, bad editing.
Blows Ian's band off the stage.
You must be soft in the head, most of them were in Jethro Tull at one time or another.
@@ianwilkinson4602 First of all, Ian Anderson's current band is NOt Jethro Tull - even he doesn't call them that. Second, the only people onstage in this video who were ever in Jethro Tull are Martin Barre, the guitarist, and Clive Bunker, who was guesting and does not normally play with them (which is why there are two drummers onstage, the other guy is their regular drummer, or at least was on the two occasions I have seen them). So, apart from being almost totally wrong - great comment! You obviously are not a big Tull fan.
@@shaunkelly9860 Dee Palmer the keyboardist was also with Tull for a period, but what I thought you were implying was that this "combo"was better than the actual Jethro Tull :-) which I thought was a little surprising :-) also I was not aware that Ian had a new backing band as I haven't been following his progress or otherwise. Cheers look after yourself.
@@ianwilkinson4602 Didnt recognise him/her without the beard. No, I didnt mean that, although it us better than the last incarnation of Tull, after Martin left. The last REAL Tull was the lineup in this video in my opinion - but they still don't even get close to the TAAB - Stormwatch band.
@@shaunkelly9860 I only came across this by accident really, I can't say I am impressed one bit. So these days I only listen to the older recordings of Tull when everything was hunky dory, anything else is too distressing. A band I am taken with at the moment, and about as far from Tull as you could possibly get, is called SLIFT and most recent album is UMMON, they are from France. Cheers.
Luv ya! ua-cam.com/video/2qpy1KRD7Dk/v-deo.html
The least gifted of the musicians, myself, is the drummer. He shows his limits particularly in Songs from the Wood and Heavy Horses. But maybe it's impossible to play like Barrie!
Who is Barrie? I don't know that guy.
@@martincarman1725 Barriemore Barlow is that guy!
@@rexormax1925 gotcha, danka
Rexor
R u on something ?
The drummer here is spot on.
Do you honestly rank the musicians as you watch? Darby is an excellent drummer. After all Martin chose him and Martin's worked with some of the best.
Band sounded great. Audio quality for a live concert was top shelf. The video was disappointing. Somebody went way overboard with meaningless effects. It's a live concert. Just show the band playing.
Reminds me Skynrd
No, that is not even close to Ian Anderson.
Some things have to stay in the past!
Great to hear this music live again. Nice also to have someone singing Ian's parts so well. The last Tull concerts I went to (with Ian) showed his voice wasn't as strong as it was in the old days unfortunately. Still great musicianship of course. Martin hasn't lost any of his magic and what a great line-up.
i whished, Ian had done the vocals. Love the arrangements but the vocal part is annoying
Unfortunately I.A. has not the best voice any more. I still appreciate that he is writing and performing new music though.
If you'd heard him lately you wouldn't wish to be singing here. His voice is completely shot.
Both Martin's band and Ian's band are mere cover bands, as much as I hate to say it.
Martin is a fantastic guitarist but watching that singer try to mimic Ian Anderson is just sad!!
I was definitely a big time Tull fan! Seen them many times. Also played in some great bands. So I watched this video with a open mind. " Can't do it" The singer just does not have it! And no Ian! Glad I did not go see them in Northampton Mass. last night! Would have been a early night for me. Yes! Our our guitar hero still has it! Martin! You get a A for trying! And you still play with the best of them.
I bet your grandfather wasn't as cool as Martin!
I saw this band live last year and was disapointed. I was really hoping to hear some of the Tull riffs but it was all stuff I haven't heard. I guess he is copyrighted out of this music. The singer was annoying -trying to do the Anderson eyes but he just looks like Stephen Miller.
Ian lost his voice. Dan Crisp never had one. And I agree, he looks like Ediie Munster meets Renfro.
Hoping to hear the Tull riffs? What do you think you're listening to?
@@KidsOnCampus2 The show I saw was in Peterboro and there were no Tull numbers - just a lot of noise. There were so many people lookig at their watches looking for a merciful end.
Martin has several albums of solo material, which usually makes up the bulk of his set. He has been performing Tull music on recent anniversary tours. It seems odd that people going to see Martin Barre would be unfamiliar with his music.
This is ridiculous. Anybody that saw Tull in the 70s remembers ONE thing about that concert. IAn Anderson WAS the show........period. You cant mask the fact hes not here with a lot of old movie footage. PATHETIC
Beg to differ....Ian was
Ian can't sing like that anymore.
Singer so bad wants to sound like Ian.
This could have been an excellent gig, with a better mix. What a shame. Same set as Tull did at Lugano. Clive Bunker still has it, and Dee Palmer screwed himself up. He, or, she, looks horrible.
Honestly I love Martin, but this is a real downturn compared with Tull.
It is lacking Ian Anderson’s musical genius
Have you seen Ians band, it's not as good as this in all areas
alien Grey it's the best we can do in the circumstances. I think this is superb.
David Fox all things come to an end mate. Tull had their success for 40 yrs. It was great no one can carry on forever and the classic rock scene isn’t what it was.
alien Grey totally agree. What I find strange is that when groups split the guitarist tends to stick to the 'pure' music whereas the singer tends to go for the more commercial stuff. Cv Steve Hackett and Genesis.
As Ian himself said in 1968, " But things change......don't they". Just glad Martin has kept the spirit alive.
The truth. Looks like Martins got his village mates in to form ........ a shadow of Tull . Only a pale one. Shame.
John, David and co got this old guy into their band who can't sing for shit, but plays a mean flute, still a terrible band as well.
Dee fucking Palmer: the only reason Tull achieved prog goddom!
That is the silliest thing I have ever read, we all know he played a part in Tull's sound for a period but that is it. Without Ian Anderson's writing abilities there wouldn't be a Jethro Tull at all. The "only reason" my a#$e.
Great show... just wish that whomever edited the video didn't over-use the b-roll. Rather see the band than a bunch of stock footage that looks great behind the band on a big screen as a back-drop, but not as a focal point in a video.
