@@laurenofalltrades ty i am doing taste of royal based on your video/recommendation. i am curious what substitutions they will give me because i dont want to eat seafood
I have done chops grille twice on Harmony of the Seas, opposite way around to you guys. Did dinner on there with my wife and on a separate cruise lunch with my son. I have to say I thought the quality was the exact same and the only real difference was a narrower selection at lunchtime. I have to say for half price lunch is a good deal just dont be telling people that.
I made a reservation. I imagine they take walk-ins but only when they're not sold out. It was definitely sold out on my cruise. It's possible you could wait until you're onboard to make the reservation. But I guarantee you can get a better price if you book it on a holiday when they're running sales. I found the best price on black friday. I haven't found the same to be true for NCL or Carnival. But Royal legit discounts stuff like this. I also the best price for the soda package and Thrill Water Park (at Cococay) on black friday.
@LaurenOfAllTrades Thanks, Lauren. We have the Ultimate Dining Package for a NOV sail date and were aware the reservations for dinner (ASAP after getting onboard) was a must. I just wasn't sure of the lunch - thank you!!
Sadly, unlike Princess and Carnival, when sailing in Australian waters, RCCL just takes its USD price and converts to AUD at roughly the current exchange rate and this makes things very expensive for Aussies as the current exchange isn't great. For instance, just off Majestic Princess and their Crown Grill dinner cost us A$40 per person. Dinner for us on Ovation next month would cost us A$93.65 pp if prepaid online before sailing or A$110.18 pp booked on board. The Princess Plus drinks package cost A$59 per day and includes wifi, whereas the RCCL package is A$106.81 per day prepaid or a whopping A$142.42 per day bought onboard and that doesn't include any wifi! So this review is very helpful as lunch at Chops is probably the most affordable specialty option we can take.
So glad it was helpful! We haven’t been to Chops, but based on the steakhouses on Carnival and Norwegian, we didn’t feel like we missed out by doing the lunch instead of dinner. Thanks for watching!
Did you end up having a reservation for lunch I have the unlimited dining package and was curious if this is something I could just walk into without a reservation thanks :) cruising in January
Definitely make a reservation. It was sold out. I don't know if it was sold out at the beginning of my sailing. I reserved it months in advance. Thanks for watching!
We each got two appetizers. Husband got two sides, I only wanted one. I don't remember and can't understand in the video what our server said when I asked about them, but it kind of seems like they'll let you get whatever you want.
Thanks! I love your food reviews! 😋
That’s so nice to hear! Thanks for watching!
Great video. Thank you
Thanks! Thanks for watching!
yes - Chops lunch is totally worth it. Great food, lots of choices and very reasonably priced. We book it on any cruise that offers it.
I completely agree! I have it booked on my next RCL cruise :)
Thank you for the info.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching :)
nice. i am very tempted to go
I recommend it! However, I recommend Taste of Royal more if you were to only do one or the other.

Good to hear that the quality is the same at lunch and dinner. You're right, I should keep it quiet so that it doesn't sell out all the time!
Great review- thank you! Did you have to make a reservation for lunch, or was it a walk in?

Is it possible to order two mains? I would like to try the filet mignon and the hamburger
At their specialty restaurants, they only let you get one entree per person. Thanks for watching!
How many appetizers can you get and how many sides
