It's really sad to see casuals disrespect Bivol because he doesn't 'finish his opponents' or fight 'big names'. If you're a fan of boxing, you're a fan of Bivol. It's almost unfair how good his footwork and his left hand are. The movement of his left hand makes it seem like he's fencing with it.
Unfortunately the casual fanbase is pretty dull in terms of their knowledge, the 2nd most streamed fight of 2021 was Floyd Vs Jake Paul and I was reading comments such as "when is Jake gonna challenge the other Welterweight champions for the title etc." Like what?

Bivol mentioned at the end that he has a "soviet union style". You can check a channel here on youtube called "Frolov's Boxing". The man teaches Soviet-style boxing. From your description, I think that you will enjoy his content and the style a lot, it's incredibly fluid and dynamic.
Simple is the wrong word. Footwork is the most difficult and complex thing to master in boxing. Most fighters even elite ones only know how to fight forward. Rarely anyone can fight backward like Bivol. To my eyes, Bivol's style is much more complex than anyone else.
Bivol’s background is from the Soviet school under Isaiah. He passed away 2019 but his son carries on the school in Saints Petersburg. He has YT channel & U can watch the soviet boxing training in the 90s on youtube fyi.
I’m glad someone understands Bivol rhythm. I’ve been explaining to my friends that Bivol rhythm is underrated. For casual fans he looks like he just throwing some punches and combinations. But from ringside it’s very hard to predict what’s Bivol move bec it’s very random. Bivols combinations of his punches and footwork of in and out and his feints makes him very hard to read. Not to mention Bivol is well all around boxer. He has power, defense, tremendous stamina, ring IQ and EQ and can take a punch.
It's a shame Bivol missed an awesome career due to poor agents and nearly zero exposure earlier on... Perhaps the best boxer, technically and wonderful to watch working opponents... Now in his 30s and with such dangerous experience, the best opponents will avoid him until he's too old and passed his prime
Crazy how good they studied Canelo that impenetrable high guard got Canelo frustrated and simply was hitting with some good shots at times as well. Im a huge Canelo fan but Bivol did his thing 💪🏻 much respect to him
ima tall guy (6’) with about a 74” reach. after watching him beat up canelo i fell in love with his style! been moving more in the ring than usual and it feels good ! definitely recommend any tall fighters to put your game on this man!
He should be a big star and had 2-3 huge big money legacy fights in Las Vegas and Madison Square Garden by now. The fact that he hasn't is an indication of how weak a lot of divisions are in boxing.

I can't remember someone who was effective that far outside, his jab as someone noted looks like he is fencing, but his timing is remarkable. It is not that he isn't fast it is that his timing is better than his speed. Canelo looked bad against him couldn't figure out the rhythm. Impressive boxer.
Yes, he is almost always on the move and it takes some stamina. Also, watch his right hand - always up and close to his head when he is attaching and stepping out of range. It serves two main purposes: 1 Defense and 2 Excellent left hand power/balance/coordination. He is never "hanging" on his lead foot ... or the back foot for that matter. Always balanced. Much easier and quicker to move around.
His style is kind of hard for Canelo, but he does have openings. So I think it's very close to a 50/50.... All depends on how Canelo approaches this in and out movement. Where's he's patient and just works or if he gets impatient.... Because I see bivol touching Canelo a lot till Canelo gets mid range, if he can....

Good fighter I don’t know what’s up with him lately haven’t been impressed by his fights for awhile at one point I thought he was the one to beat canelo but he just seems to coast fights without taking many risks now just as long as he thinks his hand will get raised
I get the frustration from a fans point of view. But put yourself in his shoes and it is working for him. Plus he isn't taking too much damage, unlike other guys that sit in pocket and get beat up bad.

Every fighter has their own rhythm. Some better then others! I plan to do a video on this eventually so hopefully it can help you out further. But getting your own rhythm takes time, you can’t just get it over night. That’s why when you watch beginners, they look all over the place when they first start…no rhythm or ability to change rhythm or identity the opponents rhythm.

The combination of the eastern fundamentals and American boxing brilliance is deadly. That’s why most Europeans who have gone to the USA to train have dominated. That’s why I cannot understand why AJ never figured some5hung so obvious. He only had to look at history. Even recent history is full of examples, the Klitchkos, Kovalev, Fury, Lennox, now the latest wave. It’s absolutely career suicide what AJ has down by sticking with McCracken and basing himself in the Uk. I think it’s too late for him to rescue his career. Usyk will beat him again and he’ll be scrapped. He might con some people that he could beat Fury and make a tonne of money whilst getting schooled. Then he will walk away a very rich man.

IMO Dmitry Bivol, with his "impeccable judgment of distance" is the next most exciting boxer to watch (now that my idol Pacquiao is retired).
